The ironic thing is Moms for Liberty is one of if not the driving force behind all these book bans and anti CRT in schools
    ==========================================================================

Conservative political organization Moms for Liberty recently won its case against a Florida school board and was awarded over $500,000 in the settlement.

The lawsuit began in November 2021, when Brevard Public Schools (BPS) tightened its public comment policies that shortened speaking times, controlled when certain topics could be discussed and banned signs from being raised during meetings.

The case centers on allegations that the board discriminated against people and silenced those who opposed the board's views on topics such as face masks and gender-affirming policies.

Moms for Liberty was awarded $568,000 from BPS, which the board approved last week.

"Parents and community members have a First Amendment right to hold their local school leaders accountable during public meetings," Brett Nolan, senior attorney at the Institute for Free Speech, which represented Moms for Liberty, said. "We hope that this substantial fee award will make other government officials think twice before silencing speech they don't like.".....................

It's not irony, it's blatant hypocrisy masquerading as "free speech". They want free speech for themselves, but controlled speech and expression for everybody else that doesn't align with their right wing totalitarianism. And it's supported by a right wing judges who will never call them out on their hypocrisy.

SAND LAKE, Mich. (AP) — A federal appeals court on Tuesday ruled in favor of a Michigan school district in a dispute over free speech and "Let's Go Brandon” shirts, clothing that took a jab at then-President Joe Biden.

The mother of two boys, who got the shirts as Christmas gifts, said her sons' First Amendment rights were violated when they were told to take off the shirts at Tri County Middle School in 2022. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals disagreed in 2-1 opinion.

“In the schoolhouse, vulgarity trumps politics. And the protection for political speech doesn’t give a student carte blanche to use vulgarity at school — even when that vulgarity is cloaked in innuendo or euphemism,” said judges John Nalbandian and Karen Nelson Moore.

In 2021, an obscenity directed at Biden was being chanted at a NASCAR race, though a TV sports reporter said it was “Let's Go, Brandon.” The line suddenly became popular among Biden's conservative critics.

The school said it wasn't prohibiting political messages, just vulgar ones. There was evidence that some students wore clothing that said, “Make America Great Again,” or had messages supporting President Donald Trump.

Judge John Bush disagreed with the majority opinion and said the wrong legal standard was applied.

“The phrase at issue here is a euphemism for political criticism. It contains no sexual content, no graphic imagery, and no actual profanity,” he said. “To the extent that it implies an offensive phrase, it does so obliquely — by design.”...............

DALLAS (RNS) — “Welcome to the fight,” said commentator Allie Beth Stuckey as she greeted the 6,700 conservative Christian women assembled in the Dallas, Texas, arena on Saturday morning (Oct. 11): “The fight for truth, the fight for our Christian faith, the fight for our children, the fight for the nation.”

Among Stuckey’s hundreds of thousands of social media followers, that fight is often waged in podcast recordings, comment sections, PTA meetings and local elections. But this weekend, the battle converged in the Dallas suburbs during Stuckey’s second annual “Share the Arrows” women’s conference, where throngs of Bible-wielding Christian women gathered at the Credit Union Texas Event Center to be inspired in person by their favorite online influencers, including Jinger Duggar Vuolo from the hit show “19 Kids and Counting” and homeschooling “momfluencer” Abbie Halberstadt.

Held just one month since the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the event also served as a rallying cry for women whose faith has been reignited by the death of the far-right political activist.

“There’s a new ache in all of our hearts since Charlie passed, and we’re just so excited to keep this fire burning. This is a great way to rekindle that in all of us,” Rachel Jonson, a 28-year-old mother from Corinth, Texas, told RNS as she sat near the back of the arena, rocking the infant wrapped to her chest.

To these women, Kirk was an evangelist turned martyr who died for defending conservative beliefs about Scripture, family, abortion, gender and sexuality that they, too, hold sacred. In the weeks after Kirk’s passing, the conference saw a swell of more than 2,000 women purchase tickets. And the conference aimed to equip these women to boldly enter the fray of the culture wars. Though Stuckey argues the battle is primarily about defending biblical truths, she says political engagement is a byproduct.

“This is a fight to which every single Christian is called, and it’s not fought on a physical battlefield or even only in the public square,” said Stuckey from the conference stage. “This is a spiritual battle that is waged in our homes and in our neighborhoods, at school, at your job.”

An hour before the event’s 9 a.m. start, thousands of women formed a line wrapping around the event center, clutching notebooks and the clear bags dictated by security protocols. Once inside, attendees were greeted warmly by sponsors in pastel-colored stalls peddling natural cosmetics, Bibles, nutritional supplements and merch with quippy sayings like “you bet your stretch marks.”

Nearly everyone who spoke with RNS said they were excited to be with likeminded women. Waiting in her seat before the event, Anna Tumulty, 40, from Springtown, Texas, said she brought her daughter Lily to the conference for her 16th birthday “to help prepare her for her future walk with Christ, and to prepare her to face the problems in today’s culture.”..............

Opus Dei is definitely right wing nut territory. Good to see the new pope has noticed.

Opus Dei was founded by fascists who were run out of Spain after the Spanish Civil War. Those fascists in Spain were directly involved with both the Nazi's and Mussolini. The similarities between current Republicans, Jim Crow south, the Nazi's, Mussolini and Opus Dei are not just a coincidence. They are all part of the same poisonous family tree.

Stephen Miller, the MAGA firebrand credited with shaping President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda, accused Illinois Governor JB Pritzker of being a “moron” who “hates America” during his latest on air rant.

During an appearance on Hannity Wednesday evening, Miller's initial calm disposition visibly transformed as he sounded off about “Democrat politicians,” “judges,” and “prosecutors” clamping down on Trump’s controversial anti-immigration and crime agenda.

Miller raised his voice further after host Sean Hannity asked about Pritzker, who has insulted the president on social media and filed lawsuits seeking to thwart Trump’s efforts in Chicago.

“He’s a fool and he’s a moron, but also most importantly, Sean, he hates America,” Miller said. “You can’t love your country and then fight President Trump to keep murderers murdering.”

Like Trump, Miller has characterized most undocumented immigrants as violent criminals – though most evidence does not support that claim.

Miller continued to shout about Pritzker’s unwillingness to work with the administration, claiming the governor “wants to protect the murderers, the people that are shooting dozens, and dozens of people every single week.”

Even as Hannity’s outro music sounded, signaling that a commercial break was approaching, Miller continued his diatribe.

“Chicago is more dangerous than Baghdad. It’s more dangerous than Mexico City. So shame on Pritker and God bless President Trump for fighting for the citizens of this country,” Miller continued as the music got louder.…….

He is quite simply, mentally ill.

The culture wars over the Super Bowl halftime show are growing desperate. Some on the right continue to cope with the selection of Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny as the halftime show's headliner. Although Bad Bunny is one of the world's most popular artists, conservatives - including President Donald Trump - have blasted the decision.

Now, in a gambit that is almost certainly preordained to fail, some country music fans have turned to Change.org to lobby for a new headliner. The proposed replacement? Seventy-three-year-old country music singer George Strait, nicknamed the "King of Country," from Texas. At the time of writing, the petition had more than 27,000 signatures.

"The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt," reads the text of the petition, in a suspiciously GPT-esque tone. "Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football's biggest stage. Again, George Strait embodies unity, tradition, and the timeless American music that truly deserves the 2026 Super Bowl spotlight."

It's worth clarifying that Bad Bunny, having been born in Puerto Rico, is a U.S. citizen. Although Puerto Rico has a distinct culture and national identity, it is part of the United States, a detail that one Fox host forgot when she declared that Bad Bunny was "not an American artist."

To say the loud part louder: Strait is white and from Texas. Bad Bunny is Puerto Rican and performs almost entirely in Spanish. The fight here is over what constitutes "American culture": country music or Latin trap. (Spotify listener data seems to favor Bad Bunny on this one, as his billion-play "DtMF" has over three times as many streams as "Amarillo by Morning.") ................

American culture? What the actual fork does that mean?

The halftime show is entertainment while people go to stuff their faces or go to the bathroom. It is not there to unify anything. As for family friendly? According to who? Whose values?

    Fork these people.

It's going to be hilarious when the game is over and it comes out that the halftime show was the most watched ever.

I don't like Bad Bunny's music (though have enjoyed his acting appearances). It's just not my genre, so I won't be watching the halftime show. But to deny his popularity is idiotic. This was a business decision to get more of the world watching than just the US. And it will work. It will generate tons of revenue, and it will be the most watched ever.
