It looks like he's going to be on the ticket in November. I think he should get his own thread. He's about to become well funded, and it's going to be a professionally run campaign no doubt. I don't think it's out of the question that he get's Perot like numbers, and even if he get's 1/4 of that it could be a disaster for the Biden campaign that is probably looking at a few thousand votes in a few states turning the election anyway.

There is going to be money behind this campaign from all sorts of angles. No matter what anyone thinks about RFK, it would be a terrible mistake to not take this campaign seriously. He might take some from Trump for sure, but he's going to take more of the anti Trump vote from Biden, and Biden can't really spare any votes. Not all people who were going to vote for Biden would disagree with the things RFK has said about vaccines, and he's not going to be spending his time campaigning on just vaccine skepticism.

There are many more people voting for Biden who aren't enthusiastic about Biden than there are on the other side.

Asuper PAC supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has begun polling his support as an Independent, one of the strongest indications to date that the long-shot Democrat is set to announce a party affiliation switch.

The poll, conducted by the firm John Zogby Strategies and commissioned by the American Values 2024 PAC, comes amid growing speculation — fueled by Kennedy himself — that he will leave the Democratic Party in the upcoming weeks.

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. held talks this month with former president Donald Trump about endorsing his campaign and taking a job in a second Trump administration, overseeing a portfolio of health and medical issues, according to four people familiar with the matter.

The discussions, which began hours after the attempted assassination of Trump at a rally on July 13, did not result in an agreement amid concerns in Trump’s orbit about the complications of promising a job in exchange for a political endorsement, according to the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private conversations.

“All I will say to you is I am willing to talk to anybody from either political party who wants to talk about children’s health and how to end the chronic disease epidemic,” Kennedy said Monday in an interview, adding that Trump has been more open to him than the Democratic National Committee. “I have a lot of respect for President Trump for reaching out to me. Nobody from the DNC, high or low, has ever reached out to me in 18 months. Instead they have allocated millions to try to disrupt my campaign.”.............

    This dude here...

And the fact he's having this conversation with Trump acolyte Roseanne Barr further supports he's a plant for Trump more than anything else.

For anyone interested, the main story of tonight's episode of Last Week Tonight with Jon Oliver is RFK Jr. There's a lot more crazy to the RFK Jr. than I had previously known.

A judge ruled Monday that independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr falsely claimed a New York residence on nominating petitions, invalidating the documents he needs to appear on the ballot in the state.

The ruling from Justice Christina Ryba after a short trial in state court is expected to be appealed. If upheld, it could open the door to challenges in other states where Kennedy used the address in New York City’s northern suburbs to gather signatures.

The lawsuit backed by a Democrat-aligned political action committee claims Kennedy’s state nominating petition falsely listed a residence in well-to-do Katonah, while he actually has lived in the Los Angeles area since 2014, when he married Curb Your Enthusiasm actor Cheryl Hines.

Kennedy argued during the trial that he has lifelong ties to New York and intends move back.……

How many states has he actually qualified to be on the ballot? I know there were at least 2 where they were finding signatures were collected fraudulently and his petitions were in danger of being denied.

hmm I don't know if this wouldn't actually cause more harm than good

It favors Trump. Most of the remaining RFK voters are Trump voters.

Adm Akbar has a very famous thought about this situation!

How many states has he actually made it into the ballot? I know he’s being investigated for fraudulent petitions in a couple states, and lost his right to appear on the NY ballot by lying on the application.

he's officially on the ballot in 17 states according to this article. Personally, I wish he was on the ballot in all 50 states.
He'll hurt Trump and not Harris

Seems like RFK's VP pick is smarter than he is in realizing RFK would pull more votes from Trump

“There’s two options that we’re looking at, and one is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and [Tim] Walz presidency because we draw votes from Trump,”

“[Or] we walk away right now and join forces with Donald Trump … and we explain to our base why we’re making this decision.”

Not long after Shanahan’s comments were made public, Trump told CNN’s Kristen Holmes in Michigan he would “certainly” be open to giving Kennedy a role in a future Trump administration.
