This could go in several threads but deserves one of its own. Apparently, the suspect got into the home and was looking for the Speaker. The police saw some of the attack and the spouse is in surgery. Social media accounts point to him being an election denier. This is pretty forked up.

Politics aside, an able bodied man getting *punched in the face by a neighbor is a bit different than an intruder with a hammer breaking in and assaulting an 82-year-old with it, no?

The thing is...rand Paul got tackled because he's an arse and a terrible neighbor. It had nothing to do with politics. His neighbor was angry because he had asked Paul about some mess near his property. And the incident had to do with that dispute.

And the irony is this. Paul argues that socialized healthcare is worthless. But he traveled to Canada for a meshless procedure that wasnt available in the US for a hernia resulting from that incident.

That's a great reason to excuse an assault. He was a terrible neighbor!

I would say this is somewhere more in the ballpark (pardon the pun, swear it was an accident at first but now I'm leaving it) of the Scalise shooting but probably doesn't rise to that same level only because he ain't Nancy.

The conversation was about an attack with political motives. My point was that Paul was a shirtty neighbor and person. that was the reason for his neighbor assaulting him. Not political....get it? Reason != "oh that neighbor is justified in beating Paul up" if that isnt clear enough. And if its also not clear...i do think Paul is a shirtty person and a hypocrite if you didnt understand my commentary on socialized healthcare.

Tackling someone your age because a neighbor dispute vs hitting an 82 year old in the head with a hammer because "StOlEn ElEcTiOn!!!!

Or battery vs assault with a deadly weapon/attempted murder (the hammer becomes a deadly weapon once you use it to hit someone in the head with it, and when you hit someone in the head with a hammer, pretty much is attempted murder)..

Thanks for the life tip. I wondered why they are usually correct when the mainsteam is so corrupt. Your right, it must be because of Shapiro. He is a great thinker for sure. Now I know where to get my news.
I am curious how this plays out though. I am not too sure I would trust Vice either though. I would imagine he is a religious zealot. Just not buying a Christian one, maybe a lefty religious zealot is more likely.

You have a good point about his post. But, we really aren’t tribes, much as you want us to be. We are all just people who have different opinions. I think the rights’ takes on this have been especially egregious. The one I posted, plus plenty more speculating on worse things.

A punch between two grown men over a neighborhood dispute (even if it results in broken ribs), just isn’t the same as a home invasion with a hammer attack.

And, whatever he was years ago doesn’t really pertain to now. He seems to have recently gone the way of QAnon, stolen elections, and other right wing claptrap. Sorry, the right has to own this particular nut job.

(BTW- the house in Berkeley with the BLM and rainbow flags isn’t his house.) it was an old address for him, IIRC. The current resident is no doubt thrilled that right wingers have taken to pushing that particular piece of disinformation.
