Anxiety surges as Donald Trump may be indicted soon: Why 2024 is 'the final battle' and 'the big one'

WASHINGTON – It looks like American politics is entering a new age of anxiety, triggered by an unprecedented legal development: The potential indictment of a former president and current presidential candidate.

Donald Trump's many legal problems – and calls for protests by his followers – have generated new fears of political violence and anxiety about the unknowable impact all this will have on the already-tense 2024 presidential election

I’ll reframe this is a more accurate way, Are Presidents above the law? This new age was spurred into existence when home grown dummies elected a corrupt, mentally ill, anti-democratic, would be dictator as President and don’t bother to hold him responsible for his crimes, don’t want to because in the ensuing mayhem and destruction, they think they will be better off. The man is actually advocating violence (not the first time). And btw, screw democracy too. If this feeling spreads, we are In deep shirt.

This goes beyond one treasonous Peice of work and out to all his minions. This is on you or should we be sympathetic to the idea of they can’t help being selfish suckers to the Nation’s detriment? Donald Trump is the single largest individual threat to our democracy and it‘s all going to boil down to will the majority of the GOP return to his embrace and start slinging his excrement to support him?

The difference between the two is that Biden never went on a rant about wanting to annex Canada

or claim Haitians are eating people's pets, or talk about Arnold Palmer's giant penis for 10 minutes, or sway to music for forty minutes during a rally, or think people don't know what groceries are, or rename the Gulf of Mexico, or a million other stupid things

If any other politician, regardless of party had done or said those things their career would be over.

    I've said this before

when Trump rode down that escalator and said that Mexico was sending rapists and murderers my exact thought was "Well, this won't last long"

Other gems from that 2016 campaign

"I like people who weren't captured", "Only I can fix it", "Lock her up!", attacking a gold star family, attacking a Mexican American judge

Donald Trump should have been laughed out the room, and gotten like 1% of the primary vote and withdrew soon afterwards

But alas, that's not what happened

Sorry, but Trump was absolutely not the lesser of 2 evils between him and Harris. Biden wasn't the candidate. The what-ifs are neither here or there.

Neither were the best candidates, but let's focus on the actual candidates, not what should have been.
People choose that which they want to focus upon. I never said Trump was the lesser of two evils. Clearly alot of folks did make that choice. I never said Harris was the lesser of two evils. I will say that neither Harris or Biden or Trump is the best their resective oarties have to offer and yet that was the choice we were left with.

Both parties are focused on appealing to their base. The folks in the middle are left to choose between the lesser of two evils or to take a pass. So we can look forwrd to another 4 years of hyperpartisan warfare.

YOU said the lesser of two evils.

For me, it wasnt a "lesser of two evils" choice in 2024. Apparently for you, it was. And you chose the GREATER of the two.

and LOL at the "best" - in a utopia, yes you would have the "best of the best" - but what you do have is candidates and understand who they will surround themselves with ( because a CEO/POTUS is only as good as those immediately around them)
And in 2024 you KNEW who Trump would surround himself with as well as Harris.

And you chose Trump and his choices knowing full well what his plan was. If you were hopeful that his campaign promises were "exaggerated" , after so many people were telling you he was serious, but you simply couldnt believe it because for whatever reason you aligned with that candidate as the LESSER of two evils between he and Harris. You were conned.

Now you get to reap the consequences of your choice and watch your every day expenses rise, your wealth decline with no true action plan to lower prices/increase your wealth.

and yes we arent talking about insurance, but the analogy is correct. You SHOULD have access to the BEST INSURERS, but you DONT.( Because of your risk/exposures the BEST INSURERS DONT WANT ) So now you have to CHOOSE between LESSER INSURERS or simply go uninsured. Same scenario here.
I didnt choose Trump. Never have. Never will. I wouldnt pull the lever for either candidate.

Trump is touting a Trillion dollars for military spending in the upcoming budget.

“Nobody’s seen anything like it,” Trump told reporters. “We have to build our military, and we’re very cost-conscious, but the military is something that we have to build. And we have to be strong because you’ve got a lot of bad forces out there now.”

Huh, other countries hate us now because we are wrecking everyone’s economy? What a coincidence.

Donald Trump’s private club is set to receive nearly $2 million in taxpayer-funded upgrades as spending on education and public health is gutted and entire federal agencies are eliminated by DOGE.

The Secret Service has issued a purchase order to install new “security enhancements” at Mar-a-Lago, the president’s members-only Palm Beach, Florida, resort that doubles as his personal residence, according to a review of federal contracting records by The Independent

The $1.82 million outlay, which was finalized on March 10, comes amid a period of massive upheaval during which DOGE — billionaire “First Buddy” Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency — has zeroed out budgets for, among other things, pediatric cancer research, emergency food assistance, and public libraries, while unilaterally firing tens of thousands of IRS employees, cybersecurity specialists protecting American infrastructure from foreign threats, and “disease detectives” at the CDC.

In an email on Tuesday, Secret Service spokesman Nate Herring told The Independent, “Over the years, the U.S. Secret Service has continuously invested in security enhancements at President Trump’s residences. For operational security reasons, the Secret Service does not discuss the specific means and methods used to conduct our protective responsibilities.”………..

Of course. I'm focusing on the reality of who the 2 candidates were.
I never said Trump was the lesser of two evils. Clearly alot of folks did make that choice. I never said Harris was the lesser of two evils.
You're saying they were 2 sides of the same coin right?
I will say that neither Harris or Biden or Trump is the best their resective oarties have to offer and yet that was the choice we were left with.
We're not in fantasy land. The real world is made up of flawed people. They aren't all equally flawed. And it looked crystal clear who the more deeply flawed candidate was here. But since you apparently think there's no difference between the two, so here we are.
Both parties are focused on appealing to their base. The folks in the middle are left to choose between the lesser of two evils or to take a pass. So we can look forwrd to another 4 years of hyperpartisan warfare.
We all have a choice to make. Taking a pass is a choice I suppose. A cop out, but still a choice.

You are acting like he wasn‘t headed to the nomination. Democrats didnt vote him out. They had already voted him in. He had all the delegates. And then the debate. Then it became apparent to a few prominent Democrats that the gig was up and they all but forced Biden to drop out. They couldnt gaslight the general public any longer. Had it not been forthe debate, Biden would have been the nominee. He had the delegates. And you would have supported and defended that decision.

I get it. I woudnt have voted for Trump either. But up until the debate, Biden was the nominee. And he was not fit for the job. Obviously.

Both parties need to up their game. I dont think we can continue to operate in sucha highly divisive and hyperpartisan environment. Political disagreements shouldn't devolve into violent confrontations. Lincoln spoke of a house divided. We are there.

The Democrats did by getting rid of a guy that was showing signs of being incapable of doing the job. Can you say the same about Republicans? No, because they didn't do it when they had the opportunity. And every single person who voted for GOP candidates at the federal level, whether they voted for Trump or not, owns the responsibility for not demanding that their party give the country a better candidate. That's the part you can't try to talk past- for all of your claims about Biden being unfit, he was forking replaced and an obviously senile Trump wasn't. And you voted to enable it.
