I figured we needed a thread specifically about the media.

There was a very big correction recently by the Washington Post.

That story was supposedly "independently confirmed" by CNN, NBC News, USA Today, ABC News, & PBS News Hour. How could they all have gotten the quote wrong if they actually independently confirmed the story?

Why do all the errors always go in one political direction and not closer to 50/50?

NBC hosts had a public meltdown over their network hiring former RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, citing an appalling conflict of interest.

These same people were silent when their network hired:

    -Jen Psaki, former Biden spokesperson
    -Symone Sanders, former Biden/Harris aide
-John Brennan, former head of the CIA
    -Nicolle Wallace, former Bush/Cheney spokesperson
-Countless other trained liars of the US security state

Greenwald: This is part of "the liberal ethos that is so important to understand...

The reason they never objected to the hiring of obvious Democratic Party spokespeople and the heads of the CIA, the FBI, the NSA... is because they don't regard those US security state agencies as menacing or dishonest. They regard those as their benevolent allies...

There's only one entity, one institution, in the eyes of news corporations that are a bridge too far, and that is people who are associated with the Trump-led Republican party."

At least this gave us the priceless spectacle of Chuck Todd lamenting that NBC would lend its sacred "credibility" to someone like Ronna McDaniel.

Greenwald: "Every poll shows that there are few institutions held in lower esteem than large media corporations like NBC... They don't have any credibility in the eyes of the American people...

These people live in a dream world where they're respected and beloved and trusted by the public."

The funniest part was when Chuck Todd said they were lending NBC's credibility to McDaniel.

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 NBC doesn't have any credibility outside of Washington DC and partisan Democrats.

    Greenwald is an idiot.

Ronna pushed and continues, so far as I know, the lie that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump.

A member of the Qatari royal family invested roughly $50 million in Newsmax, according to documents and representatives for the media company and the royal, in a moment of acute Middle East tensions during the Trump administration.

The investment bolstered a key conservative media outlet at a time when Qatar was facing intense diplomatic pressure from its neighbors and seeking allies in the United States.

At the time the investment was made, a coalition of countries led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had established a diplomatic and economic blockade against Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorist groups across the Middle East.

Qatar had counted on its relationship with the United States for protection, but President Donald Trump initially sided with its regional rivals, praising their move in 2017 and criticizing Qatar for funding terrorism.
In 2019 and 2020, Sheikh Sultan bin Jassim Al Thani, a former Qatari government official and the owner of a London-based investment fund, Heritage Advisors, invested in Newsmax. The investment has not been previously reported…….

In other words, the article went over exactly like it was intended to to, they just didn't expect to get called out on it

The conservative Daily Caller publication has retracted an article that claimed President Joe Biden was responsible for enacting a policy of banning religious-themed Easter eggs at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

In a correction note that appeared on the story, the publication acknowledged what assorted media fact-checkers had pointed out — that prohibitions on religious-themed Easter egg artwork at the event stretched back decades.

"Following the publication of this article, the Daily Caller became aware of additional context that undercut the central assertion of this article and its newsworthiness," the publication wrote.

"The ban of religious symbolism on eggs as part of the White House Easter egg art contest has been longstanding, dating back decades, and the Biden administration did not make any modifications to this rule.

"While the Caller did not explicitly state at any point that the rule was new, this additional context rendered the main thrust of the article misleading to readers, who could reasonably have come to the conclusion that the rule was new."

The article itself was used by many Republican politicians, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, to accuse Biden of waging a war on Easter despite the fact that Biden, a practicing Catholic, paid tribute to the holiday this week by saying that "Easter reminds us of the power of hope and renewal, sacrifice and resurrection, but mainly love and grace toward one another............

Since when does this site ever retract anything? And yes, the article already had the intended effect. Peice of work web site.

Fox News is rejecting a call from Biden administration officials to retract coverage of the policy on Easter egg art used during the White House’s annual holiday celebration earlier this week.

The White House has throughout the week forcefully pushed back on coverage across conservative media of the Easter Egg Roll, some of which incorrectly claimed the administration instituted a new ban on religious symbols for designs on eggs — a ban has been in place for decades.

The administration offered rare praise earlier this week for the conservative website The Daily Caller, which retracted a story that said the Biden White House “banned children from submitting Easter eggs with religious themes” for its Easter art contest Monday.

Administration officials have complained to Fox News leadership over stories published on the outlet’s website regarding the eggs, the online news outlet Semafor reported.

“We stand by our reporting as it accurately quotes the ‘2024 Call for Youth Art’ flyer which states Easter egg design submissions ‘must not include any questionable content, religious symbols, overtly religious themes,” a Fox spokesperson told The Hill on Thursday. “The story also includes on the record comments from American Egg Board President & CEO Emily Metz who explains that these longstanding guidelines are due to USDA rules.”

The Fox story, originally published Friday, notes that “after publication of this article,” Metz told Fox “that for the past 47 years they’ve partnered with the White House.” ..........

Because Fox isn’t news but agitprop?
