I figured we needed a thread specifically about the media.

There was a very big correction recently by the Washington Post.

That story was supposedly "independently confirmed" by CNN, NBC News, USA Today, ABC News, & PBS News Hour. How could they all have gotten the quote wrong if they actually independently confirmed the story?

Why do all the errors always go in one political direction and not closer to 50/50?

That is why I am not a member of either party. The hate and intolerance and fear mongering from the left is just as intense.

Can you please describe the behavior from the left that you think is the same or similar as the behavior of white supremacists and neo-Nazis who support the GOP?

And I never said you were part of the party. I said you support the GOP, which you do by voting for them.

Absolutely no self awareness given your last part mentioned false equivalency. You really do consume and believe all the right wing rhetoric.

Just to show how to right TampaJoe is, Rich McCormick a Republican congressman in Georgia's 7th district. He tried this same false equivalency BS, and was loudly boo'ed by Republicans. This district is a safe Republican district, and very red. The crowd appears old, and white. This is the GOP base. Below is the video, you can hear the Biden answer about a minute in.

It's a good reminder that the conserative posters on this board are far more extreme then actual conserative voters.

I’m betting pretty much anyone who disagrees with you on anything is considered extreme in your point of view. That’s all this proves.

You must have missed this question:

Nope.

It is extremist to actively circumvent congress to achieve idealistic goals. I'm not gonna waste my time pointing out Republicans actual actions.

It is extremist to believe elected officials are above the law. I'm not gonna waste my time pointing out Republicans actual actions.

It is extremist to believe that our Constitution is just a suggestion. I'm not gonna waste my time pointing out Republicans actual actions.

It is extremist to openly defy the will of the courts. I'm not gonna waste my time pointing out Republicans actual actions.

It is extremist to hold conventions for like minded extremist (CPAC). Show me the Democrat equivalent.

Project 2025 is an extremist playbook written by radical right wing extremist that are working within this radical extremist administration.

The Republican Party is a party of extremist and if there are any moderates left, they will face a primary opposition from a radical right-wing extremist.

That question has been asked and repeatedly ignored.

I tend to support the conservative point of view and quite often that point of view is best represented by the GOP candidate. I support conservatives. I don’t support every idea put forward by Republicans. I haven’t supported the Republican nominee for POTUS in the last three elections. So obviously I don’t support the GOP. I differ with them on several issues.

The same can be said for Dems. I also disagree with them on a great number of issues. Party politics in this country is corrupt and self serving in my point of view. I am disgusted with both parties and believe this country deserves much better.

This not only fails to answer the simple question I asked you, it also completely undermines your claim to not support a party because you aren't a member. If you vote for Republican candidates, you are voting for the party that is actively supporting the actions that you claim disgust you (without actually articulating what those actions are). You are dishonest, Joe. Not just with us, but with yourself as well.

If I vote for a candidate then I support the candidate. That doesn’t equate to support for a party. I’ve voted for Dems before and I doubt you could make the case that I support the Dem party. Your logic fails.

Let's say you vote for Candidate A to go to the Senate. The president nominates people you deem unqualified for the positions for which they are nominated. Candidate A votes to confirm the unqualified person.

Your vote for Candidate A directly supports the president's unqualified nominee.

Let's say you vote for Candidate A to go to the Senate. The president begins to act in a manner you deem corrupt and self-serving. Candidate A does nothing to hold the president accountable via oversight, public pressure, withholding key votes, or any other action available to them. The president continues to act in a corrupt and self-serving manner.

Your vote for Candidate A directly supports the president's corrupt and self-serving actions.

If you can't understand how your vote supports these things, that is nothing more than your inability or unwillingness to apply the bare minimum amount of critical thinking to your actions.

A lot of words to basically say “both sides are equally bad”

I understand I don’t control each and every policy position a specific candidate from either policy does or does not support. If we wait to vote only for someone who we agree with 100 percent of the time, then we will never vote. I don’t agree 100 percent with either party and I haven’t met a person with whom I always agree.

My critical thinking ability leads me to severely question your logic. If we are only to vote for candidate with whom we are in complete agreement or whom belong to a party with whom we completely agree, that’s as totalitarian and autocratic as it gets. Is that what you want or is it okay for us to agree on some things and not on others? Isn’t that what it means to live in a free country? Isn’t that what Democracy is all about?

Tell me. Do YOU agree with every policy position of every candidate you vote for? Do you agree unconditionally with every policy position of party to which they belong?

I never said anything about only voting for ideologically pure candidates. All I am saying is that you are refusing to see that if you vote for someone, you take responsibility for your vote in the good times and the bad.

I have never agreed 100% with any candidate for whom I have voted. I also acknowledge that if I were to view a candidate or party as corrupt or self-serving and they disgusted me, I would have the courage of my convictions and not vote for that party. You can't say the same.

I don’t vote for the party. I’ve said that several times.
