    Well, Biden's performance left a lot to be desired there. He didn't really do a lot to give me confidence that he acted on the up and up with Tara Reade. There's plenty of problems with her story, but Biden didn't do a great job explaining himself either.

    He really either needs to open up completely and let people examine everything. Or make a public apology to Kavanaugh.

    If I had to guess, he's probably made a number of women feel uncomfortable over the years and Tara Reade is one of them. And I wouldn't be surprised if Tara complained about it, he made her position at work worse. If that's the case, it's certainly terrible, but it isn't rape. However, if he actually sexually assaulted her that should clearly be red line no one would cross, right?

    There's no way in hell I'm voting for him if I believe he's guilty of rape. That's an easy one for me.

    This is the flip side elected Democrats were apparently too dumb to foresee back when they went all in against Kavanaugh with no real evidence.

    If all's fair Biden will be ripped to shreds as well and we'll probably ultimately figure out that we can't really figure out anything.

    And she says she filed a complaint....that no one, including her can find a copy of....even though she apparently has all of her records from when she worked there. Odd that she didn't keep a copy of the complaint....

    But, then again, she didn't mention her recent allegation in that complaint....One has to wonder why.

    I'd definitely say there's at least a decent chance she's lying.

    She deserves to be heard (eh not really if she's lying, but you know) but unless she can produce evidence or we end up with a Cosby type situation, I don't think I'll find it more likely than not that she's telling the truth.

    There is a lot more corroborating evidence for Reed's story then Ford's. That's not even the biggest issue with all this. If you truly believe that something unsavory did happen. Which based on the King call, and the additional witnesses it appears it did. When you lump all this in with Biden's role in the Clarence Thomas confirmation, and all the gropey stuff caught on camera over the years. That's an attack ad that almost writes itself.

    So this is solely based on an anonymous call to King? That could be assessed to anyone in Congress at the time if even true about at all?

    Because all the other stuff is really a she said then twenty years later she said something different.

    So, I've read a lot more about Tara Reade and the history of her accusations, and she really is all over the place. Based on what I've read, I don't think it's likely that Biden assaulted her. However, I also don't mind him twisting in the wind a bit - there needs to be a good push to figure out how to deal with accusations of sexual assaults. Based on my understanding at the time, Biden pushed for a more blanket "believe all women" position when it came to the Kavanaugh accusation. So, I don't mind it coming back to bite him a bit.

    Sexual assault accusations are really hard, because there's such a stigma when it comes to reporting them that many assaults go un-reported for a really long time. So, I think it's important to provide a safe platform for women to tell their stories when it comes to powerful men being accused. At the same time, we also need to understand the nature of the political climate that can draw these stories out. And the nature of sexual assault itself makes it hard for victims to remember things accurately. I don't think there's a one size fits all solution, but I think having a rational consistent process for dealing with them is important.

    I agree that Reade's claims are highly suspect. As were Ford's and the other Kav accusers' were just as bad or worse.

    I had hoped that by getting a taste of their own medicine that the believe all women crowd would realize what a ridiculous proposition that is.

    I should have known better. Even in the middle of all this Biden has declared that if elected he will go back to the Obama administration's Title IX standards for "evaluating" sexual offense claims on college campuses.
