A couple of days ago, one of the main US-MX border points of entry was blocked by 1000's of migrants demanding entry into the country, which caused chaos for those who lawfully cross the border on business, for work, or for delivery of goods, both ways.

Lawful border crossings are getting progressively worse across the border, and drug cartels are finding it easier to move product, as the CBP has to transfer personnel and efforts to the processing of migrants.

It's not different on MX's South border. Yesterday, ~5000 migrants stormed into Chiapas all the way to the INM building (INM is immigration) running over fences, barricades, and elements of the National Guard. They are now taking over an ecological park in Tapachula, Chiapas, which it's going to be severely affected, as it's been the case with just about everywhere migrants squat.

Unfortunately, Juan Trump (that's Donald Trump's pet name for the President of México) was bamboozled by his "friend" Donald into making MX a "lobby" for migrants trying to reach the U.S.

Many people would argue that migrants are "good for the economy", but that is not always the case. Billions of dollars leave the U.S. economy every year, because migrants send money from the U.S. to other countries to support families there. The biggest destinations are India and MX, to the tune of 100 billion dollars in 2023 alone, according to the Bank of México (kind of like the MX version of the Fed). These billions of dollars do not circulate in the U.S. economy.

Speaking of inflation, the past year, the U.S. dollar has lost ~20% of its value against the MX peso. One of the main reasons for it, is the amount of money being sent to MX from the U.S. And MX is the U.S. 2nd largest trading partner.

Gregg Abbott is a lot of things, but I don't blame him for his attempts at curbing the hordes of people demanding entry into the U.S., even the busing of migrants to other States, making some put their money where their mouth is, like the Mayor of NYC, who was so welcoming of migrants, until he he got a taste, then went crying to the federal government for more money, while the shelters were at full capacity; shelters which BTW serve the NYC poor as well.

And please, no one mention a wall. There is a wall. A wall can be climbed; a wall can be dug under.; holes can be punched through walls.

Maybe one day Americans will wake up to what a complete and total failure the Republican party is and has been for some time now.

They are completely incompetent and utterly incapable of governing.

Why doesn't Biden just close the border?

Is that Trump's grand plan to solve the "border crisis"? Close it until some group sues the government, wins and forces it to open back up (because of laws, you know that thing that governs us). Then just ignore the SC ruling like Texas is doing?

What duty is Trump dereliction exactly? He is a private citizen, as per his trials. Why doesn't Biden just close the border?

I was told Kamala was going to fix all of this a few years ago. Are we surprised it got worse with her in charge of this?
Biden wants the border open for the votes for whenever they eventually get amnesty passed.

Kamala has been to the border once maybe?

Biden wouldn't know if he was at the border or in Delware.

Please, if the President could unilaterally close the border Trump would have done it, but he didn't b/c he can't. The President doesn't have that authority. It's against the law.

Basically what we're seeing here is the lie that some people actually ever cared about the border at all.

Ironically, Republican rhetoric has a lot to do with why we have a surge of asylum seekers. They've been advertising to the world that we have open borders now, they basically are telling everyone to give it a go.

Every sentence a lie. Do you get paid by the word?
He has no credibility. Most of us try to sincerely debate. He seems to think this is a Fox audience that will easily swallow whatever nonsense is said without checking veracity.

Come on Jim. Do you think we are talking about literally closing the border so nobody comes across?

What we mean is controling the flow of all the people coming into the country now. All the executive order that Trump had used for Immigration Biden got rid of immediately.

Republicans are the reason why we have a surge of people coming to the border? That's hilarious

I know bills can have the opposite name of what it really does so I looked up the bill.

This bill makes driving while intoxicated or impaired a ground for (1) barring a non-U.S. national (alien under federal law) from admission into the United States, or (2) deporting the individual.

The bar to admission shall apply to an individual who has been convicted of the offense or has admitted to having committed the acts which constitute the elements of the offense. As a ground for deportability, the individual must have been convicted of the offense.

I would vote against this bill as well.

See, Republicans are smart knowing that the vast majority of their supporters won't notice or care that the bill refers to ALL aliens, even legal/resident aliens. That way people who even might want to vote in favor would vote against it and Republicans can point to those voting against it as "hey they don't want illegal aliens deported if they get a DUI!!"

The bad thing is that the bill passed and it's now up to the Senate to fix this very badly worded bill.

(Video wants to autoplay 7 minutes in, but the relevant part is at 1:54)

I'm for increasing DUI penalties, but deporting someone for it if they are here legally is a dumb idea. I mean, do you think US citizens should lose citizenship if they get one DUI? That if you got a DUI once when you were 22 but now are 45 and want to move to a foreign country, should that country be able to flag you as inadmissible for that? It's just a dumb idea for what it is really intended to do.

"I would in fact ensure that there is, we immediately surge to the border all those people that are seeking asylum. They deserve to be heard. That's who we are."

Quick...which law (or laws) make it illegal for people to request asylum and have their claims heard by the US government?
