A couple of days ago, one of the main US-MX border points of entry was blocked by 1000's of migrants demanding entry into the country, which caused chaos for those who lawfully cross the border on business, for work, or for delivery of goods, both ways.

Lawful border crossings are getting progressively worse across the border, and drug cartels are finding it easier to move product, as the CBP has to transfer personnel and efforts to the processing of migrants.

It's not different on MX's South border. Yesterday, ~5000 migrants stormed into Chiapas all the way to the INM building (INM is immigration) running over fences, barricades, and elements of the National Guard. They are now taking over an ecological park in Tapachula, Chiapas, which it's going to be severely affected, as it's been the case with just about everywhere migrants squat.

Unfortunately, Juan Trump (that's Donald Trump's pet name for the President of México) was bamboozled by his "friend" Donald into making MX a "lobby" for migrants trying to reach the U.S.

Many people would argue that migrants are "good for the economy", but that is not always the case. Billions of dollars leave the U.S. economy every year, because migrants send money from the U.S. to other countries to support families there. The biggest destinations are India and MX, to the tune of 100 billion dollars in 2023 alone, according to the Bank of México (kind of like the MX version of the Fed). These billions of dollars do not circulate in the U.S. economy.

Speaking of inflation, the past year, the U.S. dollar has lost ~20% of its value against the MX peso. One of the main reasons for it, is the amount of money being sent to MX from the U.S. And MX is the U.S. 2nd largest trading partner.

Gregg Abbott is a lot of things, but I don't blame him for his attempts at curbing the hordes of people demanding entry into the U.S., even the busing of migrants to other States, making some put their money where their mouth is, like the Mayor of NYC, who was so welcoming of migrants, until he he got a taste, then went crying to the federal government for more money, while the shelters were at full capacity; shelters which BTW serve the NYC poor as well.

And please, no one mention a wall. There is a wall. A wall can be climbed; a wall can be dug under.; holes can be punched through walls.

Do you think the Border Patrol Union supporting the bill somehow negates the parts of the law that's receiving criticism?
Every criticism I’ve seen you post so far has been a lie or mischaracterizing it. They say it’s not perfect, no legislation ever is. But they also say the truth - that it’s a damn sight better than what we have now and it should be passed quickly.

This is far more than Trump could ever get. Which is part of why he won’t let his puppets vote on it. It would pass and he couldn’t take credit for it, so he has to exert control and kill it. That it would help the situation at the border is just something he doesn’t give a damn about.

I know you can read and Hawley said:

Did I mention this border bill gives taxpayer funded lawyers to illegal immigrants.

Hawley didn't say all illegal immigrants. Murphy said it.
Hawley is mischaracterizing it. He knows it is only unaccompanied children, and almost nobody would have a problem with that. Who would want unaccompanied children to go without representation? So he cannot say it correctly, because that wouldn’t outrage anyone. So he is dishonest about it in order to outrage.

He is a lawyer with an Ivy League degree, he knows how to be precise with language. He chooses to be vague to pander to people like you.

The Biden Administration gives NGOs millions to help facilitate the invasion of illegal immigrants.

AUSTIN, Texas — As the Center for Immigration Studies recently reported, a United Nations-led “Regional Refugee and Migrant Response Plan (RMRP)” calls for more than 200 nonprofit groups to dole out $1.6 billion in cash debit cards, food, clothing, medical treatment, shelter, and even “humanitarian transportation” during 2024 to millions of U.S.-bound immigrants in 17 Latin American nations and Mexico.

But suspicions that the administration of President Joe Biden is directly footing the bill for at least part of facilitating the most voluminous mass migration crisis in U.S. history, now in its fourth straight year, can now be confirmed.

A follow-up CIS examination of the more than 30 faith-based nonprofits among those UN NGO partners — representing Jewish, Lutheran, Seventh Day Adventist, Catholic, and nondenominational evangelical organizations — shows that the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have been mainlining taxpayer funds to these groups, which then distribute them to keep hundreds of thousands of migrants comfortably moving toward illegal U.S. southern border crossings.

Record Taxpayer Support of UN Spearheading Agencies

UN budget documents, federal grant-tracking databases, and other public sources show that the State Department’s PRM and USAID also have poured taxpayer money into at least the other religion-oriented NGOs that CIS selected for examination, including Catholic, Lutheran, and Seventh Day Adventist groups. The list of participating NGOs comes from the UN’s 2023-2024 Regional Refugee and Migrant Response Plan (RMRP), which lists more than 200 of the groups on p. 268.

The Center for Immigration Studies has exported that list here to make it available for further public study. Another 20 new NGO groups signed on for the coming year, although they are not readily identified.

But the State Department and USAID also sent historic volumes of cash to the Latin America project’s main United Nations overseers, which also pass that aid straight to migrants: the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization of Migration (IOM).

The State Department’s PRM and USAID have given IOM $1.4 billion in just the last 12 months, by far the most on record
, according to USAspending.gov, a database that tracks federal spending. PRM is also the biggest donor to UNHCR, which is among 15 different UN agencies that will spread money and aid all along the migrant trails of Latin America. This is part and parcel of a State Department agreement to a “2023-2025 Framework for Cooperation” with the UNHCR to pay into the effort and to politically support its goals. The State Department openly acknowledges issuing guidance to field staff on budget and planning coordination for the Latin American effort, and it has turned over operation of major U.S. government policy initiatives in Latin America, such as an expansion of “refugee” centers and management of a no-interest “international travel loan” programs.

The State Department’s PRM, USAID, and UN agencies all see this straight-line pass-through of American taxpayer assistance with “multilateral organizations” as “social and economic protection and risk reduction” for vulnerable stateless people “forced” to flee home countries, as the 2023 PRM grant to HIAS put it.

So, even if this is true, this only serves to make passing the bill even more urgent, right?

I don’t believe this is anything but inflammatory nonsense. But say it is true - then pass the bill, Biden has promised to sign it, and close the border. Lankford himself said if this bill had been in place the border would have been closed for the last 4 months.

There isn’t any reason not to pass the bill, except that Trump said no. That’s it. He doesn’t care about anything except himself. That’s it.

If this amount of miagration was happening in Africa, the UN would already have refugee camps set up.

We need to get refugee camps set up either in Southern Mexico or Guatemala so that these people can access the refugee process.

We have numerical limits on the number of refugees we can take, but it would also allow for these people to be relocated to Canada, Mexico, or even Europe. They might have to live in the camp for years before they get a spot somewhere, and many of them probably wouldn't want to go to Europe, but it would at least be an orderly process.

The Southern border of Mexico is a much better spot to try and control movement than the US southern border. It is about 1/5 the size.

When or if immigration gets slowed down like certain people want it, and these big Corporations can't get their cheap labor as easy (farms, orchards, chicken/beef plants, etc) and have to start paying more money (ie minimum wage) we are gonna see prices sky rocket. It will take a while before that happens, but then all these anti immigration people are gonna lose thier minds when the price of Apples and chicken are now 3x the price and will blame everything except the real reason.

His list doesn't include one one of the worst parts of the bill. It requires all legal challenges to heard by the left wing DC circuit. Why would they want to circumvent the normal legal process?

Senator Lee Releases “Dirty Dozen” Disasters in So-Called “Border Deal”

The proposed border deal will not secure our border. Passing it into law would worsen the border crisis. Here’s why:

    1. CODIFIES CATCH AND RELEASE: Gives the Secretary of Homeland Security unchecked authority to release an alien into the United States under ineffective “alternatives to detention.” The illegals only have to express “credible fear” of persecution or the intent to apply for “protection determination.” (SEC. 235B)

    2. ALLOWS UP TO 1.8 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS TO ENTER BEFORE TEMPORARILY CLOSING PARTS OF THE BORDER: The Secretary of Homeland Security is only required to shut down the border if there are 5,000 average illegal crossings over a consecutive seven-day period or 8,500 in a single day. The Secretary may shut down the border if crossings are at 4,000 daily average over a consecutive seven-day period. Even during a border emergency, this bill requires the administration to process a minimum of 1,400 illegal immigrants a day. This is 400 more per day than Obama’s DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson said constituted a crisis in 2019. (SEC. 244B)

LOOPHOLES: Does not count any unaccompanied alien children from non-contiguous countries, suspected trafficking victims, aliens who are determined “exempted” based on decisions by ICE, or aliens who meet screening criteria for asylum. Also allows the reopening of the border once encounters are at 75% of the number that caused the shut down, so if the number was 10,000 per day, it only has to be reduced to 7,500/day to reopen.

LIMITED DURATION: Limits the number of days each year where authority to shut down the border can be in place: 270 days in first calendar year, 225 days in the second year and 180 days in the third year. The period that this “border shutdown” is mandatory decreases – in year one, the first 90 days are mandatory; in year two, the first 75 days are mandatory; and in year three, only the first 60 days are mandatory.

PRESIDENTIAL DISCRETION: Allows the president to reopen the border any time it is in the “national interest to temporarily suspend the border emergency authority” for up to 45 days.

    3. FUNDS SANCTUARY CITIES AND NGOs SENDING ILLEGALS AROUND THE COUNTRY: Includes $1.4 BILLION for more FEMA grants to NGOs that provide shelter, transportation, legal advice and other services to illegal aliens and $2.3 BILLION to HHS for Refugee Entrant And Assistance, a slush fund for services to unaccompanied alien children.

    4. SUBSIDIZES FREE, TAXPAYER-FUNDED LEGAL COUNSEL TO ILLEGAL ALIENS: Orders the Secretary of Health and Human Services to ensure that “all unaccompanied alien children who are or have been in the custody of the Secretary of Health and Human Services or the Secretary of Homeland Security…have counsel to represent them in legal proceedings” and free legal counsel for any illegal alien who a judge determines is mentally “incompetent.” Mandates that the government provide legal counsel for UACs 13 years old and under. (SEC. 3512-3513)

    5. EXPANDS PAROLE INSTEAD OF LIMITING IT: Does nothing to meaningfully limit President Biden’s abuse of parole. The language makes a fake exemption that seems to sanction Mayorkas' current abuse of parole. Under this bill, Mayorkas can parole in all these groups with the implicit approval of Congress. It also creates a dangerous EXPANSION of parole by saying it can now be granted for anyone the DHS Secretary determines has an “urgent humanitarian reason” to stay and any “culturally important purpose warranting the alien’s presence in the United States on Tribal land located at or near an international land border.” (SEC. 3146)

    6. INCREASES GREEN CARDS BY 50,000 PER YEAR FOR FIVE YEARS: This includes 32,000 family-based green cards and 18,000 employment-based green cards. Hurts American workers by importing cheap foreign labor. (SEC. 3402)

    7. WORK PERMIT FOR ADULT CHILDREN OF H-1B VISA HOLDERS: Hurts American workers by providing indefinite work permits to an estimated 250,000 adult children of H-1B nonimmigrant visa holders who will be competing for jobs with recent college graduates. (SEC. 3403)

    8. IMMEDIATE WORK PERMITS TO EVERY ILLEGAL RELEASED FROM CUSTODY AFTER THEY PASS AN INITIAL SCREENING: Current law requires a 6 months waiting period after filing an asylum claim before you can apply for a work permit. Under this bill, applicants are granted an IMMEDIATE work permit if they pass the initial asylum credible fear screening. (SEC. 235C)

    9. NOTHING TO DEPORT ILLEGALS: Does not require the President or Secretary of Homeland Security to deport anyone.

    10. AFGHAN ADJUSTMENT ACT: Creates a pathway to citizenship for over 60,000 poorly vetted Afghans who were brought to the country due to President Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. (SEC. 331)

    11. WEAKENS ASYLUM SCREENING BY CODIFYING BIDEN POLICY: Codifies the Biden asylum officer regulation and empowers USCIS asylum officers to grant asylum, withholding of removal, and protection under the Convention Against Torture without review by an Immigration Judge, ensuring significantly higher approval rates. (SEC. 3141)

    12. NO IMMEDIATE FUNDING FOR THE WALL: The bill claims to give $650 million for “building the border wall.” This is a budgeting gimmick without any new money. The bill would simply rescind current money and then put it back in with a later date (FY2028) so that President Biden and Sec. Mayorkas don’t have to build any wall and can delay spending money on the border wall. (SEC. 205)

Yes, people who are here illegally and commit crimes shouldn't be allowed in the country or they should be deported.

    Oh okay
I completely agree with deportation for felonies, but if they are illegals here on asylum awaiting their hearings, and they commit a misdemeanor, that doesn't justify an action as drastic as deportation.

Increasing green cards and immediate work permits for those who pass their asylum screening - we have a labor shortage, and wouldn’t it be better to let people work rather than be on welfare?

    the wall? Lololololololol

Honestly, this post by Lee is garbage. But one would expect nothing less from a garbage senator.

So? His policies have been the normal policies that are outlined by US law. So his actions have been that of following current US laws on immigration. He has now promised to sign a bill that will correct the abuse of the asylum system, and greatly cut down the time required to hear asylum cases from years to days. A bill endorsed by the Border Patrol Union. A bill that was negotiated in a bipartisan fashion by one of the most conservative R Senators.

When Trump says something inflammatory you say don’t believe his rhetoric he won’t actually do it. Do you not employ the same standard here?

Honestly, this is one of the worst cases of you merely regurgitating Trump lies. You keep posting lies about the bill.

The republicans don't want that problem solved.

trump wants the issue to use in his campaign. He is literally stopping that legislation for personal gain.

He and the republicans don't give an flying flip about the border beyond being able to use it as a weapon in the campaign.

I can't believe so many Americans buy the garbage from trump and republicans.

It’s beyond obvious and only party shills think otherwise.

Head of Border Patrol Union fact checking Republican lies, which have been repeated multiple times in this thread. This union endorsed Trump, so it’s hardly a democrat saying that Republicans are lying. It’s obvious to everyone that they are lying because Trump told them to.

Fox doing the right thing, at least a little bit, here.

What duty is Trump dereliction exactly? He is a private citizen, as per his trials. Why doesn't Biden just close the border?

I was told Kamala was going to fix all of this a few years ago. Are we surprised it got worse with her in charge of this?

It’s the Rs who have demonstrated dereliction of duty. I thought it was fairly obvious.
