After 20 years, you don’t have a contract. You can retire at any time you want with advance notice. Remember he retired at 20 years already and came back after 9/11. He followed that procedure and didn’t break any contract. What happen was he was promoted to the rank but still needed to finish the testing which he didn’t complete in time. Therefore, when he retired, he didn’t meet the requirements to retire at that rank. Also, you do realize the guy you keep quoting was paid to write that letter. Find someone who isn’t on the GOP payroll to answer the question. If his commanding officer promoted him to the rank then that is his rank. That is how it works. he didn’t just occupy the CSM office and claim he was a CSM. Which is what the moron above implies with the if I sit in a cockpit comparison.

He gets the benefits of a master sergeant but retired as a Command Sargent Major. It is a number based on the pay you get. It basically tells you what kind of money and other soft benefits you get. He was promoted to the rank of Command Sargent Major and was NOT DEMOTED. Do you not understand that? He didn’t qualify for the same retirement benefits but he was promoted to that rank and can say that. Even the National Guard commander who isn’t voting for him said he could do that. So give it up. Those two soldiers attacking Walz are trash MAGA people. And calling him claiming a rank he actually held “stolen valor” just indicates that Trump requires his disciples to lie in his service. Everyone who has ever actually associated with Trump ends up with their morality and integrity in tatters. It’s not “stolen valor” - it is hair splitting.

And most veterans - all who are not MAGA - are disgusted by MAGA’s attacks on Walz. Nobody else cares and his approval rating continues to go up.

Which is the real reason for the attacks. There are at least 2 GOP office holders who are actually claiming stolen valor. MAGA doesn’t go after them, though.

They really are showing their true faces, and also that they have zero situational awareness. Trump's and his minion's social media smear spamming helped Trump win in 2016. It didn't help at all in 2020. Now in 2024, it's costing Trump votes, because the overwhelming majority of American voters have had enough of their spoiled brat behavior. Trump and his minions are clueless that their constant social media smear spamming is actually motivating a comfortable majority of people to vote against Trump.

My sincere hope is they never figure that out until the election results start rolling in.
