Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

……Meanwhile, new polls indicate Trump is slipping behind the vice president in the popular vote and races are tightening in battleground states.

“This is what you would call a public nervous breakdown,” Matthew Bartlett, a Republican strategist and former Trump State Department appointee, told Politico.

“This is a guy who cut through the Republican primary like a knife through butter. This is a guy who pummeled a semi-conscious president in a debate and literally out of a race. And now this is a guy who cannot come to grips with a competitive presidential race that would require discipline and effective messaging,” Bartlett continued. “And we’re seeing a candidate and a campaign absolutely meltdown.”

Chair of the Vermont Republican Party Paul Dame predicted that Trump allies will start to wane in their defense of the former president.

“I think we’re starting to see the old Trump that a lot of Republicans got tired of in 2020, got tired of defending him,” Dame told USA Today. “If the next three months is defined by more examples like this I think he’s going to see some of that soft centrist support deteriorate.”……..

“This is a man who is incapable of controlling his emotions,” said former Congressman Adam Kinzinger, who has now signed on to the initiative “Republicans for Harris.” “Against all advice, against all sanity, he is attacking the Republican governor of Georgia...Donald Trump is losing his marbles.”…….

We've liked the polls recently. A healthy dose of confirmation bias there.
But any poll that shows a Republican "slipping behind" in the popular vote is on drugs.
A GOP candidate hasn't won the popular vote in...decades? I want to say decades.
Trump got scrotepunched last time and there's no reason to think he's more popular now.

Someone who talks about narcissistic personality disorder on Twitter, reacting to the above extremely weird post from Trump where he posits that Biden hates a bunch of Democratic leaders “the most in the world” and is plotting to take the nomination back from Harris at the convention, specifically by challenging Trump to another debate.

“I don't usually repost his deranged screeds, but I'm making an exception with this one because Trump is in panic mode.

He doesn't think like a normal person, because he's never been one. His grandiosity is gone, and now he's so narcissistically battered, he's losing his political instincts.

For years, he's force-fed his narrative to a group of fearful, angry, and unhappy people whose acuity or belief system was over-emotionalized and fringe.

I don't want to overstate the moment, but even they know this post is astoundingly delusional.
Trump is becoming visibly weak. His aura is dissipating. His myth is collapsing.

    This post is NUTS.”
Read the two statements below and remember that Trump's violent weapon of choice is inciting people to commit violence on his behalf.

This study concluded that individuals high in narcissism were especially aggressive when provoked. They tend to be intolerant of any criticism or perceived slight or challenge and may react with outbursts of anger or aggression. They are also prone to fits of rage or aggression when they don't get their way.
Dangerous narcissists are lousy business and romantic partners long before they commit murder. They exhibit warning signs before killing, a history of callous and manipulative behavior, a pattern of coercive control, previously expressed threats or fantasies of murder, a record of secrecy and pathological lying, and a history of verbal and nonlethal physical violence.

If things keep trending the way they are for Trump, it won't be long before he gets Elon to stir the same shirt up here that Elon's stirring up in the UK.

At the same moment in time both 'Trump and Vance,' and 'Kamala and Tim' were trending at Twitter.

Why does one describes the Republican ticket by their last names, and the other describes the Democratic ticket by their first names?

I don't know who was doing that describing.

I'm of the use last names school. I don't know if that was a right wing, or a left wing school that taught me to do that.

BTW Harris and Walz are kicking some arse. Laughing while they do it. Laughter being brought back is also an observation which also seem to be trending. Many folks on the Internet are saying how good it feels to laugh again.

Walz actually is who Wilford Brimley spent his acting career pretending to be.
I've been seeing Walz being compared with Don Rickles. It seems plausible.

I do remember Wilford Brimley in an evil role in the Pelican Brief. Otherwise I'm not that familiar with him.

I don’t remember him in pelican brief

Was definitely in the firm with Tom cruise

Are you thinking of that one or was he in both?

The guy in this photo is six years younger than me. Like Patrick Stewart, Wilford looked the same age for decades.
