Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

On a different thread, I said Trump has hit his ceiling for support and seems doomed.
Yet surprisingly, David Axelrod states that enthusiasm for Harris needs to be more cautious. It's not in the bag yet.

Oh hell, David Axelrod means SHAFT.

    Here's video of that:

    NO.
With Biden as President that seemed like a reasonable hope for me.
Now I'm thinking the Ds might grab everything. Too soon of course to say.
I should should just tune out until after the first Harris Trump debate.
Once that has taken place that's when we might be able to gauge the mood of the country.
    Yeah, probbley, grab everything.

While far-right extremists from all corners of the internet are targeting vice-president Kamala Harrisas she takes the reins of the Democratic ticket, one of the longer standing US-based neo-Nazi terror groups is also attempting to continue its covert activities as the presidential election season begins in earnest.

Rinaldo Nazzaro, 51, a former Pentagon contractor and analyst at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) turned founder of the Base, wrote on his personal Telegram account that he’s seeking a stateside leader for his organization and is willing to pay them a salary of up to $1,200 a month.

The Russia-based leader, who is the subject of an FBI investigation and once called a Department of Justice “matter” by a US government official, is not known to have set foot in the US in years. With the recent surge in racially motivated riots in the United Kingdom, authorities across the west have become increasingly concerned with Russian sponsorship of far-right extremists.

The Base was considered a domestic terrorism threat in the lead up to the 2020 presidential election campaign. The group adheres to the principles of accelerationism; a hyper violent political doctrine calling on followers to hasten the collapse of society through acts of terrorism.

“You must have knowledge and experience in fieldcraft, wilderness survival, and/or small unit tactics,” he said in the post read over 500 times. Nazzaro makes it clear the “A-Team Leader,” who he says has to be 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license and a clean record, must also come with specific skills.

“Prior military experience is not required but is highly desirable,” he said. “As the team leader, your responsibilities will include recruiting, vetting, and retaining a 6-man (or possibly 12-man) A-Team; organizing, conducting, and documenting team training sessions at least once per month.”……..

Donald Trump, now facing a tougher challenge in the US election after Joe Biden stepped down in favor of Kamala Harris, is increasingly leaning into religious extremism aimed at energizing a key section of his support base: socially conservative Christians.

Fears that Trump would be an authoritarian leader if elected seemed to be realized last week, when he told a group of Christian supporters they “would not have to vote” in four years if he becomes president.

“My theory would be that since Harris has entered the race, Trump has recognized that he’s on shakier ground,” said Matthew D Taylor, author of The Violent Take It by Force: The Christian Movement That Is Threatening Our Democracy.

“If you watched the RNC and saw the discourse there, [Republicans] really were quite confident that they were going to kind of have a cakewalk to victory in November.

“I think there’s, there’s more anxiety there now. I think Trump is dialing up religious dog whistles, and sometimes just straight up whistles to really galvanize and submit that religion’s religious support.”…….

The crowd at the Believers’ Summit was a gathering of the more extreme type of American Christian, and came days after the Trump campaign launched a “Believers for Trump” coalition, backed by controversial religious figures who reinforced the sense that the base was being pandered to.

Those backers included Eric Metaxas, an anti-vaxxer and conservative radio host, who in the press release accompanying the event claimed that “American Christians are falling for the same religious lies” that German christians succumbed to as the Nazi party ascended in the 1930s”, and who recently retweeted a post on X which discussed “the way to wipe that smug, birchy smirk off Kamala’s face”.

Taylor said there is a distinction between Christians who merely support Trump and those – like the people at the Believers’ Summit – who have a “religious attachment” to the former president. Those people, who include an array of religious leaders, see Trump in religious terms and have attached “spiritual narratives” to him: one example being the comparison of Trump to King Cyrus, who, according to the Bible, liberated the Jews from Babylonian captivity, despite himself being a Persian ruler.

The real goal with Trump’s appeal to this crowd is about more than just winning individual votes, Taylor said.

“I think the more overt Christian appeals are maybe a little bit of desperation, but also it’s a tried and true method for them, of drumming up more and more support and the truth is the religious voters who have a religious attachment to Trump are not just voters – they’re force multipliers,” Taylor said.……..

CHICAGO (AP) — Five secretaries of state are urging Elon Musk to fix an AI chatbot on the social media platform X, saying in a letter sent Monday that it has spread election misinformation.

The top election officials from Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Washington told Musk that X’s AI chatbot, Grok, produced false information about state ballot deadlines shortly after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race.

While Grok is available only to subscribers to the premium versions of X, the misinformation was shared across multiple social media platforms and reached millions of people, according to the letter.

The bogus ballot deadline information from the chatbot also referenced Alabama, Indiana, Ohio and Texas, although their secretaries of state did not sign the letter. Grok continued to repeat the false information for 10 days before it was corrected, the secretaries said……

$1,200 a month? I thought these Russian oligarchs were rich. The dude with the qualifications they're after is making $150k working for Blackwater. (Now Academi)

He already has that vote. There are not enough of them to help him win. He's desperate

How apropos, a morally bankrupt, Criminal appealing to corrupted Christians for their support. 🤔

Trump is absolutely giddy that the stock market is down today. That’s because he only cares about himself. Ordinary Americans mean less than nothing to him. Oh, and he has an impressive track record during his term of presiding over historic drops in the market.

It seems like whenever there is a big drop in the stock market the opposing party is gleeful "see, this is what so & so's policies get you, vote for me/us and this will never happen again"

The media panics, "you better find out where your closest soup kitchen is because you'll probably be there before the month is out"

and a day or two later the market rebounds and is nearly back to where it was before

I hate the stock market, a job report comes out and the market, always based on emotions, takes a dump. Nothing changed except this report.
"Nothing changed except this report" is not true.
Hours before our Stock Market opened the Japan Stock Market took a huge dive.
Also some AI based companies showed less profit than was forecasted.....and the Federal Reserve opted not to cut interest rates.
One tv financial broadcaster called it a "Perfect Storm" of international and domestic stuff that all happened within hours of each other.

we covered this in depth yesterday. This isnt entirely accurate.

Yes, jobs report last friday was part, MSFT Azure/AMZN cloud based services were down in revenue....

but the MAIN factor was hedge funds and large institutions were BORROWING from Bank of Japan at NEAR ZERO INTEREST RATE, in Yen, converting to USD, and trading/buying stocks. Over weekend Japan hiked its interest rate which caused a massive panic for those Hedge Funds/Institutions that had $10s of MILLIONS BORROWED that was now subject to not only INTEREST RATE HIKE, but a side effect of FOREX hike ( Foreign exchange rate ).

When they pay back, they must convert $USD to $YEN. When rates go up, that conversion goes up, costing MORE.

So this had more to do with those folks unwinding positions to cut losses than the jobs/fed/revenues.
