Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

Did the right have racially segregated zoom calls?
You used the wrong "s" word. The word you were looking for was "started." The zoom calls supporting Harris were started by different races and genders, but they weren't segregated at all. All people were welcome to log in.

Why did your mind go straight to "racially segregated?"

Anyway back to what is actually happening today. Here is the entire 34 minutes. And it has been confirmed that Trump’s team ended the interview early. They knew how bad it was going.

Trump's going to have to expose himself to more of these long format situations were he doesn't have control if he wants to win. I don't think he can win if he does expose himself and he's going to get hammered as hard as Biden did if his handlers try to hide him from the public. Barring a national or global catastrophe, Sept and October are going to be very bad months for Trump. Bachman–Turner Overdrive comes to mind whenever I think of what's coming for Trump.

Trump is utterly incapable of understanding being bi-racial. Has not a clue. Someone in comments pointed out that is a throwback to a more racist time where they had a “one drop” theory of racial identity. I’m not 100% sure what that means.

One drop of non-white blood makes you 100% not-white. Meaning any non-white ancestry makes you all not-white, white supremacy purism at it's most depraved.

What is going on here? Did he just intentionally reach across the table to over tighten her water bottle?

If the video is not flipped horizontally, then Trump grabbed the water bottle with his right hand and the cap with his left hand. I slowed it down to 1/3rd speed an it looks to me like he tries to twist the cap forward which would loosen it. It's possible he grabbed it, because it's the closest water bottle in his vision, so naturally he thinks "I see, it mine." His water bottle is on a table to the right of him out of his line of sight. It's possible he tried to open it, but couldn't. Trump is supposedly right handed. I'm right handed and reflexively hold with my left hand and twist with my right. So Trump doing the opposite is weird. Confused side dominance does happen for some suffering from dementia. Not saying, just saying.

I think this response from Harris is really good.

Maybe it's just because of my years of public speaking, but the saying is usually "it was the same old thing," "not the same old show."

However, this is how people phonetically heard what Harris said, "it was the same old sh...ow." I think that was intentional and very well played. That's how you get people to hear in their mind the word you don't want to say. She even took a beat after "show" and you could hear a bit of a knowing chuckle from the crowd.

Who cares about the water bottle? I mean, it was weird for him to grab it, NOT drink any water, tighten the cap, and put it back down. But seriously guys, it's not that big a deal. There are plenty of other Trump "issues" to focus on.

We can all walk and chew gum at the same time.

Nate's model has Kamala picking up ground in his forecast. She has made gains in every single potential swing state. Interesting that her chances of winning the election, and popular vote are inversed almost identically.

And why Trump's chickening out of debating Harris is on full display as well.

I just watched that NABJ interview. It feels like after 8 years, someone in the media finally gave Trump a real interview. He bombed so hard.

P.S. Unless we go into a recession. The whole immigrants are taking your job thing doesn't work in an economy with record unemployment. If he wants to bring every question back to immigrants. He needs to figure out a coherent message around inflation.

Thank God, we have a real candidate now. This buffoon is self-immolating.

If you want to find out more news about Harris, Google Trump rally. The fix is in.

Wow, the fix is in, whatever the hell that means. I don't care.

You appear to be trying shame me, and others to adopt your point of view. Now that might work on Prodistant's, Catholics, even Mormons.

Jews however are immune to being shamed. It's just one of those things. It bounces off of us, it's always has been that way, and I expect it will stay that way.

You also can't shame a Buddhist. It just can't be done. There is no shame button to push. NO button, you can't push a button which is not there.

Get over it! I'm not ever sorry about it, so just get over it.

The trends are great, especially the head to head in swing states and 3-way with RFK Jr. I still stand by the fact the historical trends indicate that the polls are most likely underestimating Harris by at least 5% and overestimating Trump by at least 5%. If you make that adjustment, Harris is in great shape and Trump is in trouble with no real way to improve his position.

With Biden being replaced by Harris, Trump and Vance are the "man bites dog" sensational story for the media. Trump will now be the primary negative hype target and I don't see that changing before the election. There's going to be breaking negative story after breaking negative story for Trump until well past Nov 5th. All Harris has to do is play a pressing ball control game that keeps Trump on his heels. She seems well suited for that and so much more.

Do you mean record employment or record low unemployment? The Fed met recently and indications are they will drop the rates in Sept. Americans would feel that in a very positive way if it happens and the timing would be perfect.

Except for by their mothers from what I've been told by friends and a woman I dated and lived with for a while. Seriously though, her and her family were the first to tell me not to feel shame. Guilt and responsibility for hurtful things, sure. But shame, hell no.

Shame is actually the preying on and manipulation of a persons fear and guilt to try to coerce them into compliance. It's not an natural internal feeling, it's completely externally taught and imposed.

I just finished watching the full NABJ interview with Trump, I want to point out that throughout the interview when Trump would say he was having a hard time hearing Fox News’ Harris Faulkner, she would say she was having trouble hearing him.

Hear the end of the interview Trump was asked if he would step down as president. Trump in his rambling response once again attacked the ABC reporter by saying, "look, if I came onto a stage like this and I got treated so rudely as this woman. treated me..." and Fox News’ Harris Faulkner blurted out "oh, my goodness" in response to Trump's attack. Fox News’ Harris Faulkner had no problems hearing Trump say that.

Just seemed odd to me after she kept agreeing with Trump that it was hard for them to hear each other.

Here's a Republican strategist's and the former president of the NABJ Los Angeles thoughts on Trump's NABJ interview.

A good thread on what Trump did yesterday, speaking to public officials who still support Trump from Daniel Miller, a lawyer turned writer who contributes to several media outlets.

“It’s not just Trump who owns this. It’s every single Republican official who backs him, every MAGA member of Congress, every MAGA talking head in the media.

If you still support him, and you’re in a position of power, you’re helping to fuel & promote racism in this country. And you are helping to fuel and promote a movement that is trying to bring down our democracy. It’s that simple.

You can tell yourself any tale that you want. You can rationalize your behavior. But when you look back at yourself years from now, it will be clear what you did.

You will know it. And so will the history books, although you probably won’t even be a footnote in them. But Trump’s fascist movement of which you were a proud member will be featured at length. That’s your legacy.

The thing is. It doesn’t have to be. It is NEVER too late to do the right thing. It’s NEVER too late to change course. It’s NEVER too late to fight for that values you KNOW deep down our country stands for.

And let’s be clear. I don’t pretend to have all the answers. And I don’t pretend to know THE WAY.
But I do know that Donald Trump is not the answer. I do know as much as I know ANYTHING that Donald Trump is not THE WAY. He is antithetical to everything we were taught to love about this country.

The thing is. We all know this. Deep down, this truth is clear to all of us.
Saying you were wrong is one of the hardest things to do. It takes courage. But this country is a forgiving one where redemption is on the table if you seek it w/ a full heart.

Years from now, you don’t have to feel shame. You can feel pride. There is another way.”

Some people are saying the interview was all planned by Trump. That he did it on purpose knowing it would excite his base, especially since a lot of them were questioning him since he stopped talking about abortion or guns so much. I don’t think so myself, I don’t think he could help himself.

The part that was cut off:
The desperate, ugly jump to "she's not black" wasn't 16 dimensional chess. It was the old man in the nursing home yelling he doesn't like the black nurse.
