Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

I'm not scared of drag queens. I don't think there is any reason for young kids to be around them, but that's not why I posted those pics.

It's just to highlight how mindless it is to make the Vance is weird talking point while yall tell us those people I posted are normal and that a man can have a baby.

It's almost as if Harris’s campaign didn't really think it though that the weird narrative will bring more attention to the oddities that the Democrats have been trying to convince us are normal.
Every news network has analysts who lean left or right. Some more than others each way depending on the network. The Dems did say push the weird issue and that is what they are doing. Just like every conservative analyst says Harris is the border czar. This has been happening forever, just like you get campaign representatives on news networks that won’t answer the question and just parrot what ever talking point they are being told to say.

I think Harris supporters are leaning too much into identity politics. These black women for Harris, then black men, then white men, then white women are steering this away from issues, and are off-putting. We went from a candidate with an immutable characteristic of old age to one of race and gender. Harris’ race isn’t that important, since we just recently had Obama. Being a woman is far more significant and historic, but that also shouldn’t be the focus. It’s okay to toot that some, but that shouldn’t be the focus. The focus needs to remain on Project 2025 and democracy, moderating Harris’ platform, and attacks on your opponents infirmity as it pertains to doing the job. We can’t afford to alienate moderates while Democracy is at stake. JD was a traditional Republican and Trump was a Democrat and now both are crazy MAGA authoritarians, so Harris can adjust some of her positions to win the middle, while still being more consistent and principled. She doesn’t have to over-adjust, because I think some of her left positions are good and popular, but anything that isn’t advocating authoritarianism and gutting democracy should be favored.

Republicans stepped into identity politics with the childless cat-lady comment, because that cuts across parties. That was hurting them, but Democrats leaning too much into identity politics isn’t a smart tactic. I’ve started hearing complaints about being attacked for race and mysogyny, but leaning into race and gender invites it. It is better to respond with issues and your opponents weaknesses, rather than expecting to be rewarded or even showing sensitivity for your inmutable characteristics. Trump’s attacks against Harris for characteristics that don’t affect her ability to do the job can benefit Harris if she doesn’t lean into victimhood complaints. Let them dig their own grave by being the better person.

Also this weird refrain seems like a weak and potentially counterproductive attack. Some people like weirdos, including a lot of Democrats. I bet there are more weird Democrats than Republicans, so it doesn’t resonate to me. It’s better to talk about cruel, short-sighted, and greedy people, because there are far more of those on the right. Or perhaps stick to the crazy radical authoritarian labels that I think were effective.

I think of these zoom calls as more of an invite, and many probably showed up for the novelty of it. But if the message is to remind us that we have more in common with each other, and to help unify, then that's a good thing.

What's funny is that you all equate me posting about the weird narrative on Vance and who the Democrats think are normal somehow means that I'm upset about it.

Are you upset about Harris being the nominee because I've seen you post about that? See how silly that train of thought is?

Are you surprised how quickly the media adapted the Harris talking points?
Right, the media adopted Harris’s talking points.

The media has metaphorically committed sex acts for Donald Trump since long before he ran for office. It continues now in their failure to show just how cognitively damaged he is.

Nah, you post about the so-called “weird narrative” so you can trot out drag queens.

You know it, I know it and so does everybody else. You have literally nothing else because your false god is a half-step from drooling into his soup.

It is weird how the Harris campaign got everyone to say their talking points on Air? It's amazing how quickly they all started saying the exact same thing. But Fox News!
You now what's truly weird? The first time I heard anything about Vance and the GOP being "weird" was from you! Are you working for the Harris campaign? If you are, you should ask for a raise because you have been more effective at pushing this "weird narrative" than the media.

I
why? do you have the same feelings about priests and clergy around them? Because that has been proven far more hazardous to their lives then drag queens.

Enjoy your day I'm heading out to fly fish the Yampa river.

Man, how did it go? I've always wanted to fish the Yampa or any Washington river/stream for that matter....Steelies? Cutts?

meh so so- water levels were down. only got into a handful- rainbows in the few hours out. But its always nice to get out on the water up there. They are pushing heat records daily- yesterday it got to 98 in Denver, around 94 were i was. And being a mile or so closer to sun, with 10% humidity is a different animal lol. So water levels are much lower/warmer this season making finding the fish bit more difficult.

My next trip up im going to head into Wyoming for some fly fishing. I only started fly fishing a year ago, but im hooked ( lol )

but yesterday afternoon ( after about 12 noon ) all the interest/talk etc was about the Alexander Mountain Fire - just west of Loveland. so lots of locals were quite spooked after the Boulder fire few years back. ( kinda like us with Hurricanes )

Smoke plume from fire... DIA looking NW

Yes, none of the calls restricted who could join in, and the women’s calls have all officially united into one umbrella organization now. I do thinks it’s important to emphasize that Harris has appeal for everyone. She isn’t just a certain demographics’ candidate.

Are you in Colorado right now?

no flew back last night. We just shot up for weekend trip to visit sis/bil and my friend who moved up 2 years ago.

next time ill send you pm- we went to Prost Brew Sat afternoon for some day drinkin lol.

When Trump owned his beauty pageants, he would walk into the dressing room unannounced.
That’s weird.

Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign is accusing billionaire Elon Musk of spreading "manipulated lies" after he reposted a video on X featuring an AI-generated voice imitating the vice president. Musk, who has endorsed former President Donald Trump, shared the video on his social media platform without noting that the video was originally released as an explicit parody, violating X's own policy that bars users from sharing “synthetic, manipulated, or out-of-context media that may deceive or confuse people and lead to harm."

The fake video reiterates racist attacks against Harris, who previously served as a U.S. senator and attorney general of California.

“I, Kamala Harris, am your Democrat candidate for president because Joe Biden finally exposed his senility at the debate,” the voice says, adding she is a "diversity hire" who doesn't know "the first thing about running the country." The fake-Harris voiceover is played alongside real clips of Harris used by her campaign in an earlier ad, authentic Harris campaign branding and the occasional statement from the actual candidate.

The mocking statements by the voiceover echoes statements from Republican politicians that Harris was only picked as Biden's running mate because she is a Black and Indian-American woman.

In a statement, a Harris campaign spokesperson told the Associated Press that "the American people want the real freedom, opportunity and security Vice President Harris is offering; not the fake, manipulated lies of Elon Musk and Donald Trump.” Musk has since responded on X that “parody is legal in America," including the original video by @MrReaganUSA in the post.

Two AI experts told the AP that the video represents the growing power deepfakes in shaping popular opinion and belief.

“The AI-generated voice is very good,” UC Berkeley digital forensics expert Hany Farid told the news service. “Even though most people won’t believe it is VP Harris’ voice, the video is that much more powerful when the words are in her voice.”

Rob Weissman, co-president of the advocacy group Public Citizen, said that many people will be completely fooled by the video.

“I don’t think that’s obviously a joke,” Weissman said. “I’m certain that most people looking at it don’t assume it’s a joke. The quality isn’t great, but it’s good enough. And precisely because it feeds into preexisting themes that have circulated around her, most people will believe it to be real.”............

So billionaires making up special rules for themselves, hard to imagine. 😳

I don’t care for weird either too soft, “destructive” and “self destructive” are more appropriate. 🤔
