Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

Can someone explain why Harris’ line of “unburdened by what has been” has become such a thing?

When I first read it I knew exactly what she meant which, unless I’m mistaken, was her version of “we aren’t doing things just because that’s the way we’ve always done them”

Which is a perfectly valid sentiment, and one I've heard expressed a million times before

And I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the unburdened line

Why is the right acting like it’s the most ridiculous thing they’ve heard anyone say?

Because they are cynical, bitter, miserable people who don’t want to move forward and want to actually go back to the past?

Also because it’s more than 3 words, and they favor slogans that are exactly 3 words? (Build the Wall, Lock Her Up)?

It’s possible,” writes Jessica Winter in the New Yorker, “that if JD Vance had his way, citizenship in the United States would be conferred not solely by birthright but by marriage and children.”

This is no exaggeration.

In a now viral 2021 clip, JD Vance said: “Let’s give votes to all children in this country, but let’s give control over those votes to the parents of those children. When you go to the polls in this country as a parent, you should have more power – you should have more of an ability to speak your voice in our democratic republic – than people who don’t have kids. Let’s face the consequences and the reality: If you don’t have as much of an investment in the future of this country, maybe you shouldn’t get nearly the same voice.”

This position now represents large swaths of the Republican party, which has taken on an angry and aggressively prescriptive approach to family life.

If you’re a woman in America, Republicans want you to be a mother whether you care to or not. They want you to risk your health to give them more babies. Then, when those babies get bigger, they want to make sure that those children’s fathers – or, excuse me,parents” – have a near-total control over both them and you.

They don’t want you to be able to get a divorce if your marriage turns unhappy or even abusive.

They don’t want your daughter to be able to get birth control if her father doesn’t approve of it; they don’t want your other daughter to be able to get the hormone treatment she needs to thrive as her truest self.

They want to inspect your kids’ genitals before they let them play on the high school softball team. They want to ban books, and decide what your kids can and can’t read.

They want to bar the medical treatments that allow you to plan your family and have children on your own terms – things like egg freezing and IVF.

They want to make you have your children young, and they want to stigmatize those of us womenwho pursue our own careers, interests and ambitions instead of popping out as many children as they deem appropriate.

If you say no – if you resist their prescription for marriage, motherhood and perpetual feminine self-sacrifice – they want to let you know, in sneeringly condescending terms, that you’re “childless cat ladies”, that you’re not as good as them, that step-parents are not real parents, blended families are not real families, that women who don’t have children are disgusting, worthless and deserving of contempt. If you say no, they want to denigrate you in public, punish you financially, dilute your vote and lessen your citizenship…….

White supremacists are afraid of anything that challenges their "know your place" mindset. The anger and vitriol they display is meant to bully and remind women and non-whites of their superiority. LOL.

And, Twitter has suspended the account that the organizers of the White Dudes call had made. No explanation that I have seen.

Also may be of local interest:

Update: Twitter account is readable, but they are not allowed to tweet. Still no explanation as to why. So much for the “free speech absolutist”. 🤡

All babies, or just the white ones? Have they dropped the Welfare mom attacks?

I think the reason is as simple as Musk is intentionally, desperately, publicly trying to put his thumb on the scale. He didn’t buy Twitter to champion free speech, he bought it to make sure it would be a vehicle for disinformation to promote right wing extremism. And that’s exactly what Twitter has become.

It’s a window-dressed Stormfront with big tech money and some well-meaning people still hanging around, out of habit, hope and nostalgia.

Here's an angle we understand all too well.

They'll probably release segments with better a/v quality, but here's the youtube version of Mitch's remarks last night:

Was this you on the whites for Harris call? j/k

Don't believe everything you hear on that zoom call.

If you want people to take you seriously, you might want to lay off the false accusations of being a racist or being a white supremacist especially when there is zero evidence of that.

It might be hard for you to because according to your posts that seems to be a standard tactic for you.

Maybe we can get you some literature that will help you realize that reflexively accusing someone of racism when there is zero evidence for the accusation is the sign of someone who is living in a bubble. I'm more than happy to help you pop that bubble if you like.

I'm just trying to help.

That's...........................WEIRD.
It is weird how the Harris campaign got everyone to say their talking points on Air? It's amazing how quickly they all started saying the exact same thing. But Fox News!

It's especially ironic when you look at the people the Democrats tell us are normal.

Building on Mitch's comments, I'd like to see our national moto go back from "In God we Trust" to "E Pluribus Unum". That was a better moto.

What's weird is republicans getting so upset about being labeled "weird" when their cult leader gives petty labels to everyone he hates and they love it when he does it.

That's just weird.

Seems like if labels were a problem for republicans they'd have a problem when Trump labels people. Why don't they?

What's funny is that you all equate me posting about the weird narrative on Vance and who the Democrats think are normal somehow means that I'm upset about it.

Are you upset about Harris being the nominee because I've seen you post about that? See how silly that train of thought is?

Are you surprised how quickly the media adapted the Harris talking points?

I'm not scared of drag queens. I don't think there is any reason for young kids to be around them, but that's not why I posted those pics.

It's just to highlight how mindless it is to make the Vance is weird talking point while yall tell us those people I posted are normal and that a man can have a baby.

It's almost as if Harris’s campaign didn't really think it though that the weird narrative will bring more attention to the oddities that the Democrats have been trying to convince us are normal.

What you've done is point out how democrats are calling republicans weird and that does seem like it's some sort of issue for you, although as you've pointed out, not "upset." It has upset several republican talking heads though. The point is that none of the republican talking heads, nor you seem to mind when Trump does it. So what if many people are calling republicans "weird?" Why is "weird" so bad when Trump has been using petty insults for a decade?
