Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

I disagree about Kavanaugh and Barrett. I think they have shown some jurisprudence in some cases. They were all about getting rid of Roe, but havent been unreasonable across the board.
Presidential immunity ruling? Chevron ruling? Several voter protection rulings? They were in the thick of all of that and they would not have been pushed by Leonard Leo if they didn't have a fascist Catholic agenda like he does.

Guess who pushed to have Alito and Thomas on the court? That's right, the very same Leonard Leo. Leo does not compromise. All of the justices he has picked share his agenda, which is why Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett have all ruled the same way as Alito and Thomas on every case that involves equality, and corporate vs government and individual rights.

Cite the cases in which Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett opposed Thomas and Alito. We have to deal with the reality that is, not the reality we wish it was.

Boy, it has to hurt to be a Haley supporter that thought she would be the one who would bring the GOP back from the fringes.

I don't think any of the Haley supporters honestly thought she was any less fringe than Trump. I think they just thought her sheep's clothing was good enough for her to sneak past the shepherds and sheepdogs.

If Harris going on Saturday Night Live and making all the public appearances she can keeps Republicans from going to vote, then Republicans are a bunch of, quoting them, "snowflakes."
Rubio is a fool, because Harris’ SNL appearance was great and will win her some votes. Keep Kamala and carry-onala.

I will later when I have time, but I never said Gorsuch opposed them. I know Barrett has voted against Thomas and Alito’s rulings, and I’m pretty sure Kavanaugh has too.

I never thought of that. It’s an interesting theory, but I think it’s wrong. I’m not saying a bunch of her voters wouldn’t hold their nose and vote Trump regardless, but I truly think they wanted a Trump alternative.

My point is they wanted someone with a more likeable personalty than Trump that would still push for the same policies and agenda as Trump.

I thought so. She’s crazy, imo.
    fify :9:

Then there is Mr. "President Trump is still liable for everything he did while he was in office, as an ordinary citizen" McConnel:

I'm sure he's feeling pretty proud of himself right now!

Haley wanted to create a police state to persecute her enemies, impose across the board tariffs, and do mass deportations?

Haley wanted to create a police state...
Yes. If she had beat Trump and then won the election, she would have followed Project 2025 just like Trump would. Haley would have ended up purging and punishing the same people that Trump would have. Haley would have pushed for the same national abortion ban, the same Christian nationalism, and the same rich white male domination as Trump.

    ...impose across the board tariffs...
The people wanting Haley as an alternative to Trump are primarily, if not solely, concerned about winning the religious cultural war they are waging on our country. They wanted Haley as a champion for their side of their war over Trump, because she has a much more likeable public demeanor than Trump which they think would help them recruit more to their side.

    ...and do mass deportations?
Yes. That's part of their culture war and Haley would do as much as Trump to make that happen.

Haley is just as much a part of the fascist movement as Trump is. Any Republican that still endorses Trump wants the same end game for the country that Trump wants. A return to rich white male Christian domination with everyone else being second class citizens who only have the rights that the rich white male Christians say they can have.

Trump is not our biggest problem. Trump is nothing without all the support he's gotten from white Christian nationalists. a handful of fascist billionaire tech bros and Putin. Trump is fading away. Those guys are here to stay and they will keep attacking our democracy long after Trump has faded into oblivion.

I don’t know if this guy is in a position to know this or not, just posting it because it’s interesting.

“Trump campaign has numerous legal filings prepared for 8 states which they will be filing first thing tuesday morning....they aren't even going to wait until wednesday

he will come out shortly after polls close on Tuesday to declare victory

And on we go with 2020 v2.0

Many campaign staff are going to immediately quit/resign Tuesday afternoon.

That is what I was told....

    This is stupid.”

I don't recall reading about this. I think it's another positive sign that most voters are going to make on balance rather than single issue voting choices.

"Ruwa Romman is a Georgia state representative. She is the first Muslim woman elected to the Georgia state House and first Palestinian elected to any public office in the state’s history."
"While the choices this cycle may seem so stark, many in my Arab and Muslim community are asking how I can vote for someone who cannot commit to ending the genocide of my people? To a grieving community where so many of them barely survived the first nightmare Donald Trump presidency, but who are also now watching as their families and loved ones are eliminated using our tax dollars and bombs, the choice feels impossible."
"Voting this year carries a heavier weight, as it feels like choosing between survival and surrender. Please know this is not fear-mongering. It is a reality. Organizing around Palestine is difficult already with unprecedented efforts to silence and punish advocates. I don’t believe there’s anything worse than genocide. But the reality is a second Trump presidency would ensure continued disaster for our community and far too many other allied communities as well."
"While I will be voting for Vice President Harris, it must be said that this vote isn’t for her. It’s for the people in my district and state who cannot survive another Trump presidency. And yes, it’s for my community and our allies who refuse to sit by while our resources are used to commit a genocide in our names."
"Unlike President Joe Biden, Vice President Harris has a mixed record on the issue. She voted no on more weapons to Israel in 2019 and she consistently advocated to get aid into Gaza."
"Vote for Vice President Harris not because she represents all of our ideals, but because there is a chance, even slim, that we can push her."
"And to Vice President Harris, there is so much promise in your historic candidacy and, hopefully, presidency. There is no reason for you to make this genocide any part of it. You enforced the law in the largest state in our country. You can do the same on the international stage and stop sending the weapons being used to kill innocent people, that are dragging us into a regional war, and that are breaking our own laws. Americans do not want another forever war. Listen to us."
