    Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

    She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

    It would really be great if Harris won a bunch of states Trump was thought to have in the bag and had one of the biggest landslides in history. It would go a long way to restoring my faith in the US electorate. Especially if Democrats won control of the House and Senate too.

    We need that type of denunciation of Trump, MAGA and Republicans.
     
    Rumor is that Harris is making an appearance on SNL tonight. 🤷‍♀️

    Not likely. Possibly national guard or something. But SEALS and Delta forces almost certainly won't be used.

    That said, the Capitol will undoubtedly be better protected than is was on Jan 6th.

    True, but Trump is an extraordinary threat,and extraordinary protection might be needed. The man is that dangerous
    to our democracy.

    "It's hard for anybody to say they saw this coming." That's a load of crap. The 2022 election results as well as the recent primary results showed that the polls were running erroneously high for Republicans and low for Democrats. When candidates were from the same party, the polls ran erroneously high for the more conservative candidate and low for the more progressive candidate.

    Despite all the blathering about "liberal" control, both polling and the media have a conservative leaning bias. The only bad thing is that if Iowa and other Republican strongholds flip for Harris, Trump and Republicans will probably have an easier time convincing those ready for violence that the election was stolen and then stoking them into committing violence.

    I mean I hear you, but a show of force protectiong the Capitol and I suspect the FBI and Secret Service will be monitoring communications and planning taking place, so I suspect they'll be better equipped and prepared to head off any potential action prior.

    Keep in mind the circumstances are much different with Biden in office as opposed to Trump.
