Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

Quite frankly, I think taxes need to go up for everyone over $250K in household income. And lower for everyone else.

Late for a “press conference” AT Mar a Lago and spewed lies and then left without taking any questions.

You read this leaflet and the first thing you imagine is some fat slob sitting in his moms basement, trying to come up with big words to scare his target audience, and every time he gets stuck on a word or phrase. He screams up to his mom, so she can correct the spelling.”MOM! How do you spell magnificent?? And is lunch ready?”

Seems like mom didn't know how to spell it either. "Magnificient" my arse.

Over 200 American outlets under USA Today parent company Gannett will not back candidates “in presidential or national races,” according to USA Today.

“None of the USA TODAY Network publications are endorsing in presidential or national races,” a spokesperson for USA Today, Lark-Marie Antón, said in an email to The Hill on Monday.

On its website, Gannett describes the USA Today Network as “the largest local-to-national publishing and digital media organization in the country,” with “USA TODAY, our national flagship brand … at the center of the network, surrounded by hundreds of local media properties reporting on the stories and cultural moments happening in our communities.”

Some of the outlets listed as part of the USA Today Network, according to its website, include notable examples like The Arizona Republic, The Des Moines Register and the Detroit Free Press.

“While USA TODAY will not endorse for president, local editors at publications across the USA TODAY Network have the discretion to endorse at a state or local level,” Antón said in a different statement emailed to The Hill on Wednesday.

“Many have decided not to endorse individual candidates, but rather, endorse key local and state issues on the ballot that impact the community.”…….

I still don't understand why we don't have a progressive capital gains tax rate? I don't want seniors who live on a mix of social security and investments to pay more taxes then they do. I do want high net worth, ultra high net worth, along with "lottery winners" to pay a lot more.

That needs to vary by state and area. 250k in NYC is middle class at best. Should be a formula based on COLA for each area IMO. That is why Trump’s change to the tax law screwed over blue states like NY and CA because the caps hurt their ability to write off interest for their mortgages. 26k standard deductible is nice for a lot of areas but in places where 600k gets you a 3 bedroom 1600 sq foot house it doesn’t help.

There’s a commercial about women voting their conscience and letting their husbands believe they are voting for Trump. Not the Harris campaign, I don’t think, maybe Lincoln Project? Anyway trad women have been pushing back, saying it’s insulting and demeaning to women. Here’s why it’s not:

I saw something similar to this clip a few weeks ago. Somebody on here was saying they didn’t think Trump was showing signs of mental decline, just his usual crazy. I disagree.

For a change Trump’s now the one doing the whole

“No I didn’t hear the thing everyone’s been talking about for days and don’t know a thing about it”

That’s usually the GOP’s line about whatever crazy, stupid, racist, sexist etc. thing Trump just said

Jon Stewart has admitted he finds Tony Hinchcliffe “very funny” following the comedian’s widely criticized remarks at Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally.

On Monday (October 28), the Daily Show host dedicated his opening monologue to discussing the Republican presidential nominee’s rally in New York City on Sunday evening, which has since been condemned by celebrities and politicians alike for the many racist and vulgar remarks made by speakers at the event…..

As Stewart showed a clip from Hinchcliffe’s opening act, along with the multiple TV news anchors who subsequently criticized his jokes, the 61-year-old comedian took the opportunity to defend Hinchcliffe.

“Obviously, in retrospect, having a roast comedian come to a political rally a week before election day and roasting a key voting demographic, probably not the best decision by the campaign politically,” Stewart said. “But to be fair, the guy’s just really doing what he does.”

He then highlighted a video of Hinchcliffe’s set at the live Netflix comedy roast of Tom Brady, which took place earlier this year. Hinchcliffe has made a career out of writing jokes for celebrities on Comedy Central Roast, and offers brutal feedback to aspiring comedians on his podcast Kill Tony, which he co-hosts with Brian Redban.

After Stewart played a supercut of jokes from Hinchcliffe’s Roast of Tom Brady set, he couldn’t help but laugh at the controversial comedian’s segment.

“Yes, yes, of course, terrible, boo. There’s something wrong with me. I find that guy very funny. I’m sorry, I don’t know what to tell you,” Stewart admitted.……

Jake Tapper struggled to contain his laughter when JD Vance offered up his theory for why Mike Pence has now distanced himself from Donald Trump.

In an appearance on State of the Union, the Ohio senator sought to brush off comments from former Trump administration officials who have warned about the risks of a second Trump term.

He claimed that Trump’s feud with his former vice president came about because of Pence’s inability to “control” his former boss – and not the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, during which Trump supporters stormed the building chanting “Hang Mike Pence.”

“All of these people, Jake, came into office thinking that they could control Donald Trump. That when he said he wanted peace in the world…” Vance said.

“Mike Pence thought he could control Donald Trump?” Tapper swiftly interjected.

“Yes, he did,” Vance snapped, prompting the CNN host to laugh out loud, before scoffing: “Ha! Really?”

Tapper dug in, relaying Vance’s comments that it was differences over foreign policy that led to former Trump staffers speaking ill of the former president.

“Including the former vice president Mike Pence, all of these people have this horribly damaged world view and they‘re all just going after Donald Trump because they want to send people into war?” Tapper asked. “That‘s really your argument?”

Vance retorted: “Absolutely, that’s my argument.”……..

I know what to tell him. There’s a HUGE, GLARING difference between a roast, where the person being roasted is there and up for the gig, and has a chance to speak, and denigrating people for their identity, religion, race, etc. during a political rally.
