She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She was literally on the Biden/Harris ticket with no open primary. Every Biden voter knew that she was the proverbial heartbeat away from becoming president in the next 4.5 years (assuming a 2024 win). This is such a ridiculous argument. Even in primaries where other democrats received votes, she wasn't on the ballot as an individual since she was already on the ticket with Biden. It's a desperate republican talking point because they want Biden back on the ticket.

No, I get that it's the Babylon Bee. But SFL's point is that no one "voted" for Harris. I see this talking point from republicans and I'm pretty sure I've seen this point made here on MAP. It's not a valid point because there was no open primary and there won't be one at this point. Republicans are scrambling to figure out a way to attack Kamala now that their easy target has stepped down.

Fun fact - Harris was never “border czar”. Right wing media made up that name for her. She was never tasked with slowing border crossings per se. She was tasked with outreach to Central American countries to see if we could do anything there to slow down migration. She didn’t have anything to do with policing the border.

It needs to be pointed out, because someone is beating that dead horse again, that Harris will be selected to be the candidate by delegates to the convention just like every other nominee. These delegates in many states are voted into their positions. They are normally bound to vote for the winner of the primary in that state for one round of voting, unless that candidate releases them. Then they are free to vote for who they want. This is called representative democracy. It is functioning as planned in the case of a candidate releasing their delegates.

The second point that makes this a stupid argument is that the person making it supports someone who actually did try to subvert democracy. Someone who promoted a fake electors scheme and pressured the VP to throw out valid electoral votes and substitute fake ones. Someone who pressured state election officials to alter vote counts after they had been counted 3 times, someone who riled up an angry mob and sent them to the Capitol to interrupt the counting of the Electoral votes. Someone who refused to concede an election he lost, and refused to participate in the peaceful transfer of power.

Up till 1952, primaries weren’t even a thing. Even then, they would ignore them and nominate who they wanted at the convention. So get off of this “never” kick. People who use absolutes can always be proven wrong (see what I did).
