Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

Welp, guys, it looks like they’re on to us, lololol.

So, in this conspiracy, Trump is a complete dumbass who can’t manage a rally, yet he will be a competent POTUS? Lolololololololololol

So, of course this is ridiculous. Reading reporting today that the campaign vetted his set, and made him remove a joke where he called Harris the C-word.

MAGAs are easily duped into believing conspiracy theories, so I bet many of his supporters will latch on to this nonsense. Besides, it seems the MAGAsters in the audience approved, and Trump could’ve easily spoken out in front of his audience. Trump is so out of touch with common decency that they probably didn’t realize how offensive that comedian was. It wasn’t just the comedian. There were multiple offensive speakers, like the one that indirectly said Harris is a prostitute. It seems they waited to see which offense was too inappropriate. Scum and deplorables support Trump disproportionately. Hillary was always right.

Good article on polling:

“But here’s the big problem that no one talks about very much: Simple and defensible decisions by pollsters can drastically change the reported margin between Harris and Trump. I’ll show that the margin can change by as much as eight points. Reasonable decisions produce a margin that ranges from Harris +0.9% to Harris +8%.

This reality highlights that we ask far too much of polls. Ultimately, it’s hard to know how much poll numbers reflect the decisions of voters – or the decisions of pollsters.”

More post fallout, wonder if Bezos regrets the decision to squash the endorsement
=======================

Journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, best known for their reporting on the Watergate scandal, have slammed the Washington Post for its refusal to endorse a 2024 presidential candidate.

The legendary journalists issued a statement on Friday, according to CNN's Brian Stelter.

"We respect the traditional independence of the editorial page, but this decision 11 days out from the 2024 presidential election ignores the Washington Post's own overwhelming reportorial evidence on the threat Donald Trump poses to democracy," the men wrote.

"Under Jeff Bezos’s ownership, the Washington Post’s news operation has used its abundant resources to rigorously investigate the danger and damage a second Trump presidency could cause to the future of American democracy and that makes this decision even more surprising and disappointing, especially this late in the electoral process."

Woodward and Bernstein were working for the Washington Post when they reported on Watergate.

They're the latest to voice their displeasure with the Post for refusing to pick between Harris and Trump………

I cancelled mine. Not so much as a reaction for the 2024 election but because I think it was so shameful at the same paper where owner Katherine Graham risked a great deal of her family’s social status to publish the Pentagon Papers. Bezos is a coward with no business owning the Washington Post.

FWIW, numerous inside sources in the Trump campaign are extremely confident he is going to win.

Trump 2024 also feels like Romney 2012.

There was another poll that came out today that has Harris up +4 for the GE vote. I don't know how the Trump campaign thinks they have it in the bag.

Yeah it’s interesting. I think there’s a few things going on: the first is the deification of Trump and belief in the power of the movement have never been rationally tied to public opinion. Most of trump’s polices and ideas are not popular by a majority, and he lost 2020 in both the electoral college and by more than 6 million votes - it doesn’t matter they don’t see it, because they aren’t really in reality when it comes to Trump.

Second, and more strategically, I think there’s a propaganda effort to always appear to be winning, always appear to be ascendant, always appear to be strong in the belief that it’s a landslide because it validates those who don’t know any better and may have some effect on deflating the Harris support - which I think we’ve even seen.

Lastly, and more sinister is that it seeds the supporters to believe they were going to win easily - so that it’s easier to mobilize sentiment that a possible loss was fraud or stolen. Never mind that he lost by millions last time and since then tried a coup, was charged with 91 felonies, and hit with a sexual assault verdict - it just felt like he was going to win so hell yeah they’re pissed and ready to put heads on pikes.

They’ve never been honest about much of anything so it’s not really that puzzling that they would be presenting this look like they think it’s gonna be a big win. Showmanship and the malleability of truth have always been at the center of Trumpism.
