Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

He went on to say, Harris holds a Town Hall and Democrats are texting " i wish she would have said X or been more specific about Y"

Trump holds a Town Hall, and Republicans hit the airwaves to "interpret and tamp down" his rhetoric.

its absolutely insane

reminds me of the SNL Dukakis skit...
Don't forget the insanity where Trump held a town hall and spent forty minutes of it not answering questions at all but instead swaying to music like a toddler who's just learnt to stand up.

And it was just a blip. Because he’s the master of pulling focus. I am beginning to subscribe to the notion that the eating of cats and dogs - actually the doubling down of that issue after the debate, not the original time it came up - was because the campaign felt that talking about fakes news about Haitians eating pets was better than discussing his abysmal debate performance. Also, talking about fake videos that are about to be released (and how the democrats are satanic and will stop at nothing to smear him) is better than talking about how 2 generals, including his own hand-picked chief of staff, have now called him a fascist.

Pete Buttigieg talks about this a lot... that he (and his campaign) often accentuate some insane crap b/c it distracts from his abysmal policies, etc.

Every single accusation is an admission.

"One of the most telling parts of the dialogue began when an audience member asked Trump about finding a way to eliminate federal taxes in the future. On Fox, Trump was shown immediately answering affirmatively: “There is a way.”

But that response from Trump actually came more than seven minutes later, after Trump (and Jones) brought up other topics, including inheritances, the Keystone Pipeline, Ronald Reagan, Russia, and transgender sports players. Trump had to be nudged back on track several times by the unnamed audience member, who kept circling back, apologetically, and said “I wasn’t able to finish my question.” After he repeated his tax inquiry yet again, Trump said “there is a way.”

I don’t think you’re wrong that she does come across as evasive at times when answering questions - but the double standard here is wild.

The best conclusion I have for it is that everyone has just gotten desensitized to Trump’s style of persistent evasion and mush-mouthed responses that morph into Trump-speak. It’s a known commodity and he gets a full pass as just being Trump.

But when someone who is obviously far more organized and responsive in her typical style and delivery appears evasive, it stands out in people’s minds.

It’s crazy. Jon Stewart often talks about how insane this is.
It is a double standard, but it’s baked in that Trump is abnormal. He can’t lose votes no matter how despicable or incoherent he acts. Likewise, Harris won’t lose many votes even by being vague, but she needs the undecideds The undecideds aren’t expecting anything different from Trump, but they apparently are waiting for something different. For Harris to convince the remaining undecideds, she needs to do something different. I contend that is being less evasive. I contend that she will gain more than she loses by being forthright and directly answering some questions. She could go way left, but it would still win over more than taking a fuzzy stance.

It's honestly insane that he is this close in polling. He is running on immigrants taking jobs in an economy with low unemployment.

Harris is ahead of him in net favorability by 20+ points. That's completely different from Clinton who people hated too.

If it was me running her campaign I would be running ads everyone with a single message. This dude is a forking moron.

I would show him calling Kamala dumb. Then start just showing clips of him talking like an idiot. I would remind everyone he got dogwalked in that debate. I would remind everyone of his bleach, and sunshine enema press conference. All the greatest hits, forgetting simple facts, sharks/batteries, all of it. I would have differnet ads with that message. This guy is a simpleton. If the media won't talk about his insanity, that's what ads are for.
