To me it's been sitting in public knowledge for a long time.

Russians closely tied to Putin pumped a lot of money into Trump's businesses. They grossly overpaid for everything. I think they tricked Trump into getting into a compromised situation that put him at legal risk and threatened his public image. Once Putin got Trump there, he put the screws to Trump who quickly gave in.

I think Putin has used the same approach to compromise some US politicians. It would be easy for Putin to slip money into a careless politician's campaign without them knowing and then point it out to them with a threat of exposing them. Exposing the politician getting money from foreign sources could put them in legal peril and jeopardize their political career. As long as the target politician is self-serving, they'd probably give Putin what he wants. I strongly suspect this has happened to Rand Paul. Everything he does in Congress is of benefit to Putin. I don't think that's just a coincidence.

Trump will be in late stage dementia before the next presidential term is up. A person in late stage dementia cannot serve as president. I'm completely confident that Thiel, Musk, Leonard Leo, Vance and a host of their cohorts know Trump is in middle stage dementia and are banking on it to remove Trump from office and elevate Vance if Trump wins.

Ahn did not get into the particulars of this story at the DC event, but he likely didn’t need to: in his world of charismatic and evangelical preachers, pastors, self-styled prophets and apostles, and their many followers, the story of Jezebel is a key narrative.

The rally on the mall on 12 October, advertised under the name A Million Women, was billed as a gathering for women to wage spiritual warfare against changing gender norms in the US. Drawing tens of thousands, the event showcased the ability of leaders from the New Apostolic Reformation, a growing movement on the Christian right, to mobilize followers – and ply them with militant political rhetoric.

Unlike any other normal person, Trump is nearly bullet-proof, but there might be a couple of things. Maybe proof of pedophilia, incest, or a recent abortion. I think there is some suggestive evidence of pedophilia and incest, but no proof. Any abortion would have to have occurred since he became president. It is really crazy what his supporters will justify and condone. Trump derangement syndrome is real, but the deranged people are his supporters, not the people that point out how outlandishly inappropriate and unworthy Trump is.

The first jobs Rodny Michel could find when he arrived in Charleroi four years ago were line work at a food-preparation company and, later, similarly grueling work at an Amazon factory in a nearby town. Today, as the native of Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince, sees his community grow in Charleroi, his work day involves turning an empty, dated store on Fallowfield Avenue into a Caribbean restaurant that will serve the town’s growing immigrant community.

“Sometimes I work for 12 hours a day,” he says from inside the Global Food Mart, a Caribbean grocery store where shoppers play arcade games and sift through boxes of tropical fruit.

“It will be the first for our community and I’m proud of that.”

But while locals such as Michel and Hopkins-Calcek see Charleroi as being in the midst of a revitalization, others have tried putting the town’s immigrant communities to political use. It is something that has thrust this tiny community into the national spotlight of America’s bitterly fought and divisive 2024 election.

Last month, Donald Trump wrongfully claimed Charleroi was “virtually bankrupt” and experiencing “massive crime” due to the presence of immigrants, in an attempt to turn immigration into his keystone election platform.


Like Springfield in neighboring Ohio, where bomb threats and neo-Nazi marches followed Trump’s false claims of immigrants eating people’s pets, Charleroi has attracted rightwing YouTubers and KKK groups posting recruitment pamphlets on local Facebook groups.

The former president’s comments have also found support among locals.

“When Covid was here, people were losing their jobs, but these folks were allowed in [to America]. That tells me there was something going on there,” says John Horner, who works part time as a watch fixer on Fallowfield Avenue, where craft stores, empty shopfronts and thrift stores displaying Maga shirts are interspaced with grocery stores catering to the local Caribbean community.
