Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

He wants to be able to talk over her because he just can't let that woman speak freely without him being able to name call, lie or mansplain incoherently. If it devolves into mud wrestling match, he wins.
Actually, it's the other way around. Harris wants the mics live. Trump's team wants them muted (to keep him in check).

Elizabeth Warren says “American women are not stupid” enough to believe JD Vance’s promise that Donald Trump would veto any nationwide abortion ban passed by Congress if the Republican presidential ticket wins November’s election.

“American women are not stupid, and we are not going to trust the futures of our daughters and granddaughters to two men who have openly bragged about blocking access to abortion for women all across this country,” Warren said Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press.

The Democratic senator from Massachusetts added that she suspects conservative activists could use the Comstock Act, a 19th-century anti-obscenity law which bans mailing abortion-related materials, to enforce a federal ban on abortion if the former president clinches a second presidency with Vance as his running mate.

She said it would not be all that “hard to accomplish” with “the right person [in] the Department of Justice and one of their extremist judges out in the world”.

“Understand this: today 30% of all women live in states that effectively ban abortion,” Warren said, referring to how 14 US states have enacted near-total bans on the procedure since the 2022 US supreme court ruling that eliminated federal abortion rights. “Donald Trump and JD Vance in the White House – it won’t be 30%. It’ll be 100%.”………

Is it me or are the Dems making a deliberate effort not to use the word 'abortion'?

They say "A woman's right to choose", "A woman's right to make decisions about her own body", "right to make her own health care decisions", or "A woman has less rights than her mother", etc.

We all know what they are talking about, we all know how important abortion is for this election, why dance around it?

It's not everyone but it's something I definitely noticed watching the DNC and in interviews since

Harris is going to have to be prepared with a few catchy, deep searing one line attacks that will consume Trump and keep him off balance and agitated, but allow her to move on to making her point and responding to the question the host ask. Also, be prepared to respond with good retorts when he does happen to make salient attack.
    and wants no fact checking

And don't say 'we can't fact check live'

    Bullshirt

Everyone knows what he's going to say

He says dems are allowing post birth abortions, call him out on it

He says illegal immigrants are killing hundreds of Americans every day call him out on it

He says the economy is the worst it’s been in 50 years call him out on it

brecause the Rs are trying to take more than just abortion. look how much IVF has come under attack and lately womans birth control.. Abortion is just the tip of the iceberg that Rs are going after...

I'm ok with that. They are appealing to those who have strong opinions about other reproductive rights. Lump them all in the same category.

    .
That's what I get for just looking at the headline and assuming. :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

So that totally invalidates the point I made. Interesting strategy by Harris, I hope it works. I don't think Harris getting into the back and forth muck with Trump would be good, so she'd have to stay above that.

Also gives her the ability to fire back when he starts lying. More of a court room feel. She can object. She he does it and says stupid stuff she will look fine.

Disagree with the "both are equally bad", definitely disagree with the "I won't vote for Trump, but will vote for all the other down ballot Rs who love Trump" but I'll take the not voting for Trump, and we'll see how many decide to not vote at all
    ========================================

Former Georgia Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan surprisingly spoke at the Democratic National Convention last week to tell Republicans to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Despite his policy disagreements with Harris, Duncan urged voters to recognize the significant threats that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump poses to our republic.

"These days our party acts more like a cult," Duncan said, "a cult worshiping a felonious thug."

While I agree with Duncan’s sentiments about Trump, I disagree with his suggestion that Republicans ought to turn around and vote for Harris. Instead, I suggest abstaining entirely from the presidential race to show our disapproval. However, I know why many conservatives will feel bound to vote for Trump.

In the face of two candidates entirely unfit for the presidency, I will abstain. My position has not changed on this matter for years, and I fail to see how it possibly could before the election.

Trump has done nothing to change my mind about him. I will most likely vote down the ballot for Republicans and skip both Trump and Harris for the presidency.

I will instead use my vote as a signal to the Republican Party that it hasn't earned my presidential support or that of other conservatives who refuse to vote for Trump. I'd prefer that than to use it to benefit either candidate.

In my eyes, Trump’s actions following the 2020 election should prevent him from holding public office again. But I do understand why other conservatives feel they don't have a choice.

Though somewhat diverged from conservative principles, the Trump administration's policies are far easier to bridge ideologically than those of a potential Harris administration.

While a Trump presidency is dangerous in my eyes, wannabe policy tyrants like Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, are a significant threat to conservative beliefs. Trump is dangerous because of his disregard for the rule of law. A Democratic administration is dangerous because of the policy harm it would do............

Harris' courtroom experience, along surely with a lifetime of having to deal with men trying to speak over her, may make her uniquely prepared for a debate with Trump. I like her confidence.
