Today it begins, Kamala has reached the point that she's the Democratic Party nominee:

There's video from today. this link has video from her first public appearance since Biden endorsed her:

She spent yesterday on the telephone for most of the day. I read that yesterday that she called the party leaders in all 50 states. That would take me three days.

She's renamed her YouTube channel, that's the where to go for video: https://www.youtube.com/@kamalaharris

This is her video on her channel from two hours ago:

To play it, start it, and then move it up to 5:47. This was one of those live videos which don't start at zero.

I've named this thread General Election 2024 Harris vs Trump

Trump needs an introduction post as well, a MAGA suporter ought to write it: @Farb, @SaintForLife , @Others, calling for someone to please introduce your GOP candidate for this 2024 general election thread.

Stepping off his plane after touching down in Michigan, Donald Trump fist pumps the air to the soundtrack that has become Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign anthem:Freedomby Beyoncé.

In a possible attempt to parody – or troll – Harris, Trump’s campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung posted a video on X of the former president arriving at his campaign rally to the backdrop of Beyoncé’s hit song from her 2016 album Lemonade.

Beyoncé fans were quick to slam the Trump campaign for copying the Democratic presidential rival.

“Freedom is a song written about slavery and police brutality against POC. How disgusting and despicable for any of you to use it to support that convicted felon,” one said.

Another wrote: “I know she didn’t green light this nonsense… I can’t wait until her legal team finds you”.……..

If I mock like her in my own half assed way, maybe you’all love me too…I’m more than tired of smelling this old fart. 🤔

This is also an assertion of dominance - in his mind. What the campaign is saying is “we can take what we want, no permission is needed. You think you control your own affairs - no, you don’t.”

It’s the action of an abuser. He’s an abusive person.

This is a treasonous felony. But I am sure the call was perfect and total not treasonous. What excuses will the boot lickers make? But Hunter Biden named drop his dad to make some money.
its becase he's still really president, duh..
maybe they'll use the presidentail immunity angle,,lol

I don’t think the Logan Act can actually be enforced.

Yesterday at his fake news conference he waved around some papers purporting to show that crime was “way up” despite all statistics showing the opposite. He got inquires from a legit newspaper, and backed out of an interview, lol.

That stings

The U.S. economy added 818,000 fewer jobs from March 2023 to March 2024 than initially reported, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), larger than the typical annual adjustment.

The annual BLS revision of the previous year’s job gains showed 2023 employment growth falling 0.5 percent from what the Labor Department first reported. Such annual revisions typically increase or decrease the previous year’s employment levels by 0.1 percent, the agency said.

This was already hinted at on Monday. It also means a bigger interest rate cut in September.

I basically guarantees Sept will be 0.25% when there was still doubt. It also opens a door for a similar Dec cut vs the wait and see approach.

After the former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley dropped out of the Republican primary earlier this year, some conservatives across the US continued to vote for her in subsequent primaries, casting ballots that indicated dissent within a party that has otherwise fully embraced Donald Trump.

When Haley finally announced that she would be supporting the ex-president in the upcoming election, she said that it was on him to mobilize her loyalists.

“Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that they’re just gonna be with him,” Haley said.

But it was the Biden campaign, not Trump’s, that actively began engaging Haley voters. “I want to be clear: There is a place for you in my campaign,” Joe Biden wroteon Twitter/X alongside an ad targeting Haley voters.

With the president out of the race now, some of those former Haley voters have organized behind Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in a political action group called Haley Voters for Harris.

Craig Snyder, the campaign director for the Haley Voters for Harris Pac, told the Guardian that the impetus for the group came after seeing how other Haley supporters continued to support her even after she was no longer a candidate.

“When we cast our votes in the primaries we weren’t really voting for her as an active candidate,” he said. “But we wanted to send a message that this was not the kind of Republican party that we wanted, that Trump’s period as the spirit-bearer of the party needed to come to an end.”

Snyder wondered what would become of Haley voters in the general election, and homed in on those who have made the decision, however reluctantly, to support Harris.

“For those of us in this group, our feeling has been that while we may disagree with the Democratic party on certain policy issues, the better choice is to continue our opposition to Trump by voting Democratic,” he said. “When President Biden made the decision to withdraw, we made the decision to continue along those lines and to support Vice-President Harris.”……..

this is the kind of stuff they try to get the weak minded to believe.
that if you are ok with kids getting free lunch, you are a communist..

This is so disappointing and depressing. 1. That the grant is widely unknown to residents of a town that is reliant on the steel plant. 2. Despite this grant helping the town, some aren't very appreciative when told that "improvements that would cut climate and air pollution and help ensure the plant stays open for another generation".

The federal grant the Department of Energy announced earlier this year is worth up to $500 million and adds to a $1.3 billion contribution from Cleveland-Cliffs. The money would help the plant cut emissions by up to 90 percent.

The funding will save the company about $500 million in annual costs and will help the plant transform from being one of the dirtiest steel plants in the country to one of the cleanest, according to the Biden administration. And it will be an economic driver of a hydrogen market that can be used to repower other Midwestern plants.

Interviews with more than three dozen people across Middletown over three days in late July revealed that few people knew about the grant. Of those who did, a handful applauded the Biden administration but several people said it didn’t matter or credited someone else.
The federal funding “doesn’t really change anything,” said Tyler Kirby, who sat outside the steel plant on a simmering July night, eating a hamburger and waiting for the start of his 12-hour overnight shift fixing cranes.

Kirby said he planned to vote for former President Donald Trump, who chose Vance last month as his running mate atop the Republican presidential ticket.

“I don’t really look for the government to do anything for you,” he said. “It’s more like just stay out of my way.”

Yet despite a dismal record on manufacturing, Trump still receives support.
His administration also slapped a 25 percent tariff on steel imports. But that strategy was largely ineffective, and manufacturing jobs — even before Covid-19 hit — continued to plunge throughout his presidency, especially in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
On the other hand, Biden's policy:
Meanwhile, signs indicate that Biden’s clean energy grants and tax incentives have helped spur thousands of new jobs at more than 500 manufacturing sites across the United States.

And despite Trump's call to end these grants:
“I will terminate Kamala Harris’s green new scam and rescind all of the unspent funds, give all of the unspent funds back to building roads, bridges and give it back to the government,” Trump said at a North Carolina rally last week.
We have one who says this:
At the next bar stool, Gary Hines, who voted twice for Trump, still wasn’t sure how he would vote but said the investment should have happened 20 years ago. Hines, who worked the plant’s blast furnace in the 1980s, had faith that Trump would not cancel the funding.

“I don’t know if that’s going to influence how I vote,” he said. “I’ve got to listen to what they both say, but I do think it’s a wise thing. I do think it’ll be good, I think it’s needed.”
He knows it's good for his community, and despite the known (that Harris will not cancel this program), he's unsure.

There are positives though. Some did recognize that Biden/Harris' bill did indeed help their town. Just not enough folks are aware of it.

Beyoncé has blocked Donald Trump from using her song Freedom, after the track – the central song for the Kamala Harris campaign – was used for a Trump campaign video on social media.

Trump spokesman Steven Cheung posted the video showing Trump walking off a plane, backed by Freedom. Rolling Stone and Billboard reported that Beyoncé’s record label and publisher moved to block the use, and Cheung’s video has now been deleted from social media.

Beyoncé has not commented on the incident. She is rumoured to be performing at the Democratic national convention (DNC) on Thursday, but representatives for the singer and the Harris campaign have not commented.

When asked about it on Wednesday, DNC chair Jamie Harrison did not confirm or deny an appearance, saying: “Every day, she’s in here singing Freedom – at least we hear it across the intercom.”………
