This is a mess. Her soon to be ex claims she's sleeping with her male legislative director, but also that they both had a relationship with a young female staff member. The husband appears to be after spousal support in the divorce, and Rep Hill is claiming he is abusive.

If the staff member relationship is confirmed though, she should resign. As there are clear rules against that. Just not sure how you prove that one without direct evidence.

Yea, I'm at the point where even if an elected official has a consensual extramarital affair with someone not on their staff they should resign. We need to start holding our officials up to a higher moral standard.

Have sex with whoever you want if you are both single, but breaking marriage vows is a sign of poor character, no matter how common it is.

How do you know what their agreement is/was in their marriage?

So, the right wing outlets had this out a few days ago, with pictures with a young female, mostly blurred out.

The MSM either sat on this or were trying to confirm it with better sources.

The while thing sounds weird. And now we get a new word... throuple.

However, I don't think any evidence of a relationship with her legislative director is out there, just the girl. But, I'll admit, I don't what her soon to be ex or legislative director look like to know if either were in photos. But, since she only denied it about him, my guess is there are none, so far.

It is a violation of house rules, but are we suddenly prudish, because it is a female?

We've had males caught with prostitutes, airport liaisons, various divorces, etc.

Just imagine if there was a photo of a male congressman, say Nadler, sitting totally nude, brushing a staffer's hair. And another with Nadler in a full body embrace with that same staffer.

Do you honestly believe that the outcry would be less?

I think the idea that the main stream media "sat on it" is an incorrect assertion that is built into almost every story the conservative press puts out as a subliminal suggestion for media bias. I mean, the the secondary site that "legitimized" the story pretty much led with the assertion that the MSM was "hiding" the accusations, even though it was on some main stream sites prior to the Daily Wire's claims to the contrary.

It would be ten times more. But for a myriad of reasons. First of all, homosexual relationships aren't as normalized in our world as we'd like to claim they are. And women are often more comfortable with each other's nudity than men are. And are often more physically affectionate, leading our brains to more frequently assume that it’s a platonic friendship on all three counts. Add to that the age difference between say a Nadler and a 22 year old that Hill doesn't have as she's quite young. And you're absolutely right. It would be given the Roy Moore treatment, and correctly so.

But we also need to take into account that male politicians have survived sex scandals in the past at a higher rate than females, regardless of party. Take Krystal Ball from here in Virginia as an example. That we quite swiftly excuse the boys for acting like perverts but can't extend the same rug sweeping efforts for the ladies seems unfair, and is worth noting.

Having said that, if she is being boofed by a staffer or two, she needs to go.

How is Krystal Ball a good example? Didn't her sex "scandal" catapult her from obscurity to a spot on MSNBC?

She even says the "scandal" was positive for her.

I was really disappointed in the photos BTW. Just folks goofing around.

As always, it depends on the specifics. I try to remain true to nuance.

However, would the outcry be less? Probably not. I mean, the left tends to cannibalize itself for ideological purity. We stick to ideals more than winning.

That's a broad brush and doesnt speak to everyone, but it is the drawback of a big tent type of coalition.

I thought you were painting with a broad brush back at post 6. Specifics do matter, for better or worse in these situations.

True, but it was an honest question.

Is the whole story sexier because it is a younger female politician?

The released photo has a tabloid gossip feel to it.

Yea, this is what stands out the most. She didn't deny (or it just wasn't mentioned) the other relationship. I'm not going to put it past the future ex to point a cheater finger at her, but she also should lose her position if she did indeed get involved with a staffer.

I'm of the opinion what you do in your bedroom is your own business. If she's sleeping with a different person every night, that's between her and her husband (and yes, I have previously stated the same for Trump and Stormy). But there should be a line in the sand when it comes to someone who reports to you.

    ...go on...

    that’s true, I don’t know.

I don’t have any reason to assume they had an open relationship arrangement type agreement though, so until I hear otherwise, I’m going to assume she is an adulterer.
