    Washington (CNN) —
An FBI official is under criminal investigation after allegedly altering a document related to 2016 surveillance of a Trump campaign adviser, several people briefed on the matter told CNN.

The possibility of a substantive change to an investigative document is likely to fuel accusations from President Donald Trump and his allies that the FBI committed wrongdoing in its investigation of connections between Russian election meddling and the Trump campaign.

The finding is expected to be part of Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz's review of the FBI's effort to obtain warrants under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act on Carter Page, a former Trump campaign aide. Horowitz will release the report next month.

Horowitz turned over evidence on the allegedly altered document to John Durham, the federal prosecutor appointed early this year by Attorney General William Barr to conduct a broad investigation of intelligence gathered for the Russia probe by the CIA and other agencies, including the FBI. The altered document is also at least one focus of Durham's criminal probe.

Terrible if true. Trump will obviously seize upon this.

He's destroying unemployment. Does that count?

Hiring in the United States jumped last month to its highest level since January as U.S. employers shrugged off global trade conflicts and added 266,000 jobs.

The unemployment rate declined to 3.5% from 3.6% in October, matching a half-century low, the Labor Department reported Friday. And wages rose a solid 3.1% in November compared with a year earlier.

My hope is that the 2020 election results are such that the Democrats will be forced to learn from their mistakes, but so far they just keep doubling down on them.

If Trump gets totally destroyed in the 2020 election and loses in historic fashion, what will that teach Republicans about the last 4 years of constantly doubling down on conspiracy theories, fake news stories and playing only to only one demographic?

I would hope something but I'm not that optimistic.

The last five years of the Obama admin, unemployment dropped by more than 5%. The first three years of Trump it has dropped by about two percent.

It looks like Trump has maintained the trend he inherited.

This article is right on point. I'd say this is working perfectly for Trump. The majority of us are indigent but exhausted. His followers/loyalist just ingest it all and spit it out all over social media to add to the disinformation and make most stop caring because they can't/don't want to deal with it.

The comments reflected the tendency of the Trump administration to deflect damning facts and to create new narratives that the President and his fans find more appealing.

Trump's never-ending stream of misinformation, half-truths and conspiracy theories seems designed to confuse voters and to create ambiguity and uncertainty about the outcome of investigations in a way that leaves even the closest observer unsure about the facts.

One expert in the work of such propagandists is former World Chess Champion and Russian political dissident Garry Kasparov.

"They know that, you know, they can get people exhausted, they exhaust critical thinking," Kasparov told CNN's Anderson Cooper last week.

"I always call Putin (a) merchant of doubt. But now seeing what's happening in America, it's when just Republicans managed to turn the whole political process in this alternative reality. It's like a post-truth world."

I have to paraphrase since this is live...

"Although we did not find documentary or testimonial evidence of political bias, we also did not receive satisfactory explanations of the (failures)"

Responding to Comey's vindication claim, " I don't think this report vindicates anybody who touched this"

So far, the difference between the Senate hearing and the House hearings we have been seeing is dramatic.

Well the report found no bias and the investigation was warranted, why wouldn’t he feel vindicated?

the rest is simple window dressing.
Plain and simple you can’t quote the finding of the Mueller Report and ignore all of the ancillary damning information and then ignore the Finding of the IG report and only quote the ancillary damning information. That is the definition of hypocrisy.

Ok so we are gonna try this nonsense on this thread rather than address it where it was being discussed?

Here is a link breaking it all down for ya!

Go read it. Look at labor force participation rate!

Get back to me after you do.

You will notice that we have not come close to prerecession levels.

That stuff is all smoke and mirrors unless you look at the data

Comey is completely vindicated by the report just like trump was completely vindicated by the Mueller report. Trump told you this. And now Comey is telling you the same thing. What's different?

Yeah nobody putting Kinko's to work with silly signs!

    Nobody interrupting constantly.

It is amazing when the Republicans are in majority the Democrats don't yell out and act like children constantly trying to stop the process to get their 2 cents in

Getting Trump is not worth destroying the country.

The IG report paints a picture of a law enforcement agency that should infuriate and scare every American.

Yet, since Trump is the target, you are good with it.

You lost 2016. Move on. Learn from mistakes. Present candidates and platforms that win elections instead of blaming the loss on the election process.

I think that every single mistake that was highlighted in the IG report should be addressed so they never happen again. The breakdown of the process is very troubling and concerns me greatly.

Trump has committed impeachable offenses and every witness the WH has blocked from testifying should be compelled to come forth and testify so that the country may truly see what is happening. We are a nation divided and the absolute disgusting behavior of the president should be something the entire country unites to stand against.

It is possible for both of these things to be true at the same time.

" and every witness the WH has blocked from testifying should be compelled to come forth and testify so that the country may truly see what is happening.

I agree, so why didn't Schiff or Nadler go through the correct process through the courts to force them to testify? If it is so important to hear from them then why did they writhe on the floor in a tantrum instead of following the proper legal course available?

It is working through the courts.

They have said several times that they feel waiting months for the courts to decide only gives the president more time to cheat at the next election.

That is their reasoning, it's not a mystery.
