So if that’s approximately right, Biden probably just needs to net another 25,000 out of the remaining 90,000 to get over 50,000 ahead (not unreasonable — that’s just getting about 63%, when he’s been getting more). That would require 3/4 of the provisional ballots to be for Trump, which is unlikely.

Biden is winning 75% of mail-in so far so he should get about ~70k of the mail-in votes or +50k over Trump. About 50% of provisional ballots are from blue counties so Trump winning 3/4 ain’t happening. I think the networks are just being careful because who they are dealing with.

I think most people are mad at 538 because the polls were so far off again but that isn't entirely their fault. There's something fundamentally wrong with polling in this country and they failed to correct for it in the aggregate again.

The polling and their aggregate were off by around 8 points in Florida. That's way outside of polling error. They even wrote a post before the election talking about why it could be wrong which turned out to be true. That means they knew there was a problem and they failed to adequately account for uncertainty they knew existed.
