Everything I've seen and heard says that the split second Donald Trump is no longer president there will be flood of charges waiting for him

And if he resigns and Pence pardons him there are a ton of state charges as an understudy waiting in the wings if the fed charges can't perform

What do you think the likelihood of there being a jail sentence?

    In every movie and TV show I've ever seen, in every political thriller I've ever read about a criminal and corrupt president there is ALWAYS some version of;

"We can't do that to the country",

"A trial would tear the country apart",

"For the nation to heal we need to move on" etc.

    Would life imitate art?

Even with the charges, even with the proof the charges are true will the powers that be decide, "we can't do that to the country"?

He most certainly believes he does

Trump is on record stating that he loves the poorly educated and based on the things you have posted since joining, Trump most assuredly loves you.

He's been playing the poorly educated these last six years because he needs them to sacrifice themselves for his benefit and he also needs their money that they so readily give to him and the Republicans so that they can....wait for it.....own the libs.

We'd respect you more if you just came out and stated that you don't care what he's done. It would make you look less cultish.

When he's indicted and convicted, will you be a man and come back here and eat crow or will you melt like a snowflake? Better yet, why don't you join the rest of the true believers who will sacrifice themselves rioting trying to stop trump from being arrested. There will be plenty of ammo around for all the melting snowflake MAGAts who decide to riot.

Besides we all know that this is yet another liberal witch hunt and he won’t do any jail time. Much to the libs chagrin

Anything right wing fascist don't like is a liberal witch hunt. Lol

This case is small potatoes, but I'm down with that criminal degenerate Trump being arrested and fingerprinted, even if he never serves actual time for this.

Now if indictments ever come from Georgia or the Feds, watch out. That's the real party.

    TDS. :ROFLMAO:

I assume you're referring to the Trump Derangement Syndrome which from an observation I made at his Truth Social account yesterday, he seemed to be having an extra special bad TDS day.

He's always suffered from TDS but lately my gosh.

BTW, why did Trump supporters coin that whole TDS thing and put it out all over the Internet?

I know it's Republicans who did that. Democrats didn't do that. Four or five years now and I've never understood that. I would think they would have wanted to hide his deranged mental condition.

    It's like they celebrate it.

Well @killa you definitely prove that you can't teach an old dog new tricks but you can damn sure lie to them and have them believe anything you say. You are one of the lucky true believers. The unlucky ones believed the lies of your lying orange savior right up until they either died of covid or got arrested for insurrection. Carry on with your denial. There's no reaching those fully committed to the big lie. Just keep telling yourself that Trump and Republicans care about you and your family.

And, as usual, some new wrinkle shows up to take this case and make it all the more interesting.

Over the past several days, we've seen a relatively new face making the interview rounds defending Donald Trump. Attorney Joe Tacopina has been showing up on various tv shows being interviewed, and would appear to be Trump's lawyer handling the Stormy Daniels hush money case. But, that may stop pretty soon. It seems that before hiring Michael Avenatti to represent her, Ms. Daniels approached Mr. Tacopina to represent her. The two had discussions about her case, and eventually, she ended up hiring Avenatti. BUT.... New York bar rules apparently require a lawyer to recuse himself from a case if he "has had discussions with a prospective client" and "shall not represent a client with interests materially adverse to those of a prospective client in the same or a substantially related matter if the lawyer received information from the prospective client that could be significantly harmful to that person in the matter."

Now, on a direct reading of that, since Stormy Daniels is not actually a party to this case, it might not apply. But, part of the rule says "a lawyer who has had discussions with a prospective client shall not use or reveal information learned in the consultation." I think it would be easy to make the argument that since he had discussions with her as a prospective client, there is no way to ensure that information he uses in the case did not come from those discussions.

So do you think that the Trump DOJ was on a “witch hunt” when they sent Michael Cohen to prison for this exact crime?

Also, is not doing “jail time” the extremely low bar for your support? Lol

Republicans are now anticipating whether former president Donald Trump will actually be indicted and how to proceed accordingly.

The former president took a sledgehammer to the best laid plans this weekend when he alleged that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office would indict him based on supposedly paying adult film actress Stormy Daniels money to keep quiet about their affair on Tuesday and called on his supporters to protest.

His announcement served as a stark reminder that beyond any policy goal – more than tax cuts, anti-immigration sentiments or spreading fear about teenages transitioning their gender – defending the twice-impeached former president is an article of faith for the modern-day GOP.

As a result, Republicans have now had to reposition themselves to make protecting Mr Trump their primary focus.

His call came just as House Republicans prepared for their annual retreat ahead of debt limit negotiations with President Joe Biden.

They also are trying to deftly keep Washington’s focus on their investigations on the current White House occupant and his son Hunter…….

…….Will Donald Trump surrender, or fight extradition?

His lawyers have indicated that the former is the most likely outcome, should charges actually be handed down. There have been whisperings (and very public urgings from his supporters) in favour of the president doing the latter, but such an effort would likely be unsuccessful and merely add more public spectacle to the already-humiliating drama.

    Will he be arrested?

Probably not, unless he were to fight his indictment and refuse to attend his arraignment. In most cases of white collar crime, defence counsel works it out with the DA’s office and the two parties schedule a time for the defendant to come in.

    Will he be handcuffed?

Almost certainly not. The crime(s) for which he could be indicted are not considered violent offences, and the former president is hardely considered an escape risk. District Attorney Alvin Bragg has also reportedly been discussing the optics of handling Mr Trump’s arraignment, so don’t expect any attention-grabbing moves like slapping Mr Trump in cuffs.

What about fingerprints and a mug shot?

Yes, and yes. Those are standard parts of the booking procedure and will not be skipped just because of Mr Trump’s celebrity status…….

Here’s the thing: Rs have been using hearings (and they have admitted it) to damage their political rivals for years, and they didn’t particularly care whether there was any actual crime or wrongdoing committed. Just look at Benghazi.

Now we have Trump, who has been committing actual crimes (bank fraud, insurance fraud, tax cheat, obstruction of justice, witness tampering) for decades. When the justice department and/or states actually start to get around to doing their jobs, the Rs denigrate the justice system.

They can criticize the hearings if they want, but it’s damaging to denigrate the criminal justice system, IMO. There isn’t any evidence of any of these charges being manufactured, like their Benghazi hearings were.

Donald Trump supporters have called for a so-called “patriot moat” to surround the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate to prevent him from being arrested as well as protests to shut down New York City.

Mr Trump could make history this week if he is indicted over alleged hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in the run-up to the 2016 election.

The former president made the arrest prediction in a furious all-caps post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday morning and called on his supporters to protest any arrest and to “take our nation back.”

And on far-right wing forums, his supporters were quick to make suggestions about how they could back Mr Trump and stop authorities from taking the Republican politician into custody.

“Surround Mar-A-Lago or wherever he currently is and prevent ‘law enforcement’ from entering,” wrote one person on the patriots.win website.

“Protest AROUND him, BEFORE the arrest. FFS people, this ain’t rocket science,” wrote another person on a thread entitled “Trump to be arrested on Tuesday. Our government is lost.”

And another added: “Pick a blue city, take a Trump train like the 75 mile long one in FL, park on the freeways and shut it down. It would be easy to do this to NY- just block the bridges and tunnels. They don’t have enough cops left to do anything.”…….

“A million strong MAGA army surrounding President Trump. Then you’d see if these 100% politically motivated charges can be realized,” said another.

“Nation Wide Strike. ALL PATRIOTS stop what you are doing and bring society to a halt,” wrote another user.

And another added: “A circle of riflemen within a one mile radius of his current location, a smaller circle always in the same room as him…”…….

These Trump radicals are the real terrorists. This is what Homeland security should focus upon. If they obstruct justice, I hope they are arrested and convicted of felonies so their voting rights are lost!

Donald Trump knowingly misled his own attorneys about his handling of classified documents after leaving office, according to the contents of a sealed filing in the special counselinvestigation of the former president, ABC News reports.

The federal special counsel investigating Mr Trump presented a Washington court with evidence that the former president committed “criminal violations” and deliberately misled his lawyers, former DC district court chief judge Beryl Howell wrote in a Friday filing, a source told the broadcaster. (Judge Howell stepped down the same day as the reported filing.)

As a result of the alleged misconduct on Mr Trump’s part, Judge Howell ordered Trump attorney Evan Corcoran to comply with a grand jury subpoena and offer records and testimony in the investigation, which he had previously avoided by claiming attorney-client privilege.

Attorney-client privilege doesn’t apply to conversations relating to carrying out or concealing a crime…….

Donald Trump has told advisers that he wants to be handcuffed when he makes an appearance in court, if he is indicted by a Manhattan grand jury for his role in paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels, multiple sources close to the former president have said.

The former president has reasoned that since he would need to go to the courthouse and surrender himself to authorities for fingerprinting and a mug shot anyway, the sources said, he might as well turn everything into a “spectacle”.

Trump’s increasing insistence that he wants to be handcuffed behind his back for a perp walk appears to come from various motivations, including that he wants to project defiance in the face of what he sees as an unfair prosecution and that it would galvanize his base for his 2024 presidential campaign.

But above all, people close to Trump said, he was deeply anxious that any special arrangements – like making his first court appearance by video link or skulking into the courthouse – would make him look weak or like a loser…….

Trump’s legal team in the hush money case has recoiled at the idea of him going in person and recommended that Trump allow them to quietly turn himself in next week and schedule a remote appearance, even citing guidance from his Secret Service detail about potential security concerns.

But Trump has rejected that approach and told various allies over the weekend that he didn’t care if someone shot him – he would become “a martyr”. He later added that if he got shot, he would probably win the presidency in 2024, the sources said…….

Reportedly, the judge in the MarALago documents case yesterday gave Trumps attorneys a deadline of midnight las night to file a motion regarding his lawyer being compelled to testify; and gave the DOJ a deadline a 6am today to respond.

Can any of the legal experts here comment on this ridiculously short timeline?
