Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer threatened two Supreme Court Justices at a rally today outside of the Supreme Court: "You will pay the price.. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions"

I am not sure why Judges/Justices should be immune from political criticism? Especially given that all sides use the Courts in an effort basically to set policy.

And I didn't take this as Schumer threatening the Justices with physical harm or anything like that. I can get the criticism from using too harsh of language (although I disagree) but not from the standpoint of politicizing, or something along those lines, the judiciary.

So, I think there is a line between political criticism and attempted intimidation. Did this cross it? I'm not sure -- I listened to it, and it clearly sounds like he's implying some sort of consequences for Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.

Now do I think he was threatening them with some sort of physical violence? That seems unlikely, but since they're appointed for life, there's little else he can do to them, so it's ambiguous in a way that seems a bit threatening and is inappropriate in my opinion.

I guess we have to see what Comedy Central or John Oliver has to say, until then, we really don't have the pulse of the nation this issue.

I saw the clip the other night and I think Schumer was got a little to excited as he was trying to fire up the crowd. It looked like he got caught up in the moment and did not stop talking and kind of went ad lib. I dislike Schumer about as much as any politician but I don't think it was said in malice, just stupidity.

No, that wasn’t me. I am a bit amused that you seem to know what Behar thinks about current events though.

I know right? It's kind of a convoluted story, but I have a cousin who is a taxidermist and he was in an accident at work and now has to have around the clock nursing care. The day shift nurse is a progressive and she likes to watch the show. My cousin tells me about it when I go by to check in on him.

Oh okay. Can you spell out the rule for me so I know for future reference?
Man y’all really don’t like to be held to account do you
The RULE is the speck/plank think like I said
I’m not going to play your both sides game since there is nothing even close to an equivalency
If you want to discuss the speck in Schumer’s eye, but have no concern with the forest in Trump’s, you can’t be taken seriously bc you make it obvious that you’re not concerned with the behavior but the person
    That’s hacky

    I think that's fair.

I think many of us get in trouble when we ad lib.

It is like one of my professors would tell us. We are all mostly bad writers (like, first draft), but we can be much better editors / re-writers.

well it wasn’t Schumer who said that. I didn’t say he said that it was just random comments online.
Schumer aboslutely named Gorsuch and Kananaugh while threatening them with retaliation.. This type of speech only encourages the looney tunes from either side to commit violence like the Bernie Sanders supporter a few years ago to shoot up the conservative congressional basedball practice field . It was a stupid statement by him and he should be recalled out of office for it.

I think his first mistake was to stand in front of the Supreme Court to rile up a crowd.

We all know he is not a direct threat, but this was his Maxine Waters moment.

Just so I have this new rule correct, we aren't supposed to criticize someone if we haven't made previous posts criticizing the other side right? Even if we held that opinion, but we didn't make a post about it then it doesn't count right?

So you aren't allowed to criticize Trump anymore for pushing conspiracy theories because you never criticized the Democrats, the media(especially CNN/MSNBC), and left leaning posters on the MCB for pushing the discredited Trump Russia conspiracy for 3 years. Did I get it right?
The "rule," if you want to call it that, is to apply the same outrage you applied to Schumer's comments to similar comments by Trump. It's not a difficult concept to understand, although I do understand it may be difficult to apply in practice.

Roberts condemned Trump a year or so ago when Trump talked about "Obama" judges

Schumer apologized Jim for an isolated, albeit inexcusable, poor choice of words.

Trump doesn't apologize for multiple attacks on multiple members of the judiciary. He doubles down and claims its his right to do so. Its a threat to the rule of law and most republican lawmakers sit quietly as he does it and then act all outraged when Schumer does it.

I have never been a fan of the both sides do it argument. Its wrong when Trump does it, its wrong when Schumer does it.

I do think it fair sometimes to compare the wrongs. Schumer is a senator who made an isolated attack on the judiciary for which he apologized. I don't find his apology as unequivocal as it should be in my mind, but at least its some apology.

Trump is the president of the US and regularly attacks judges, some for rulings on national matters, other times he goes after judges in civil cases against him and his companies.

I was immediately outraged by what Schumer said. Trump so regularly threatens the rule of law people are either numb to it, afraid of criticizing him or just do not care.

These two things are not the same.

1st I’m happy that you’ve come out of your coma
2nd wait til you hear about all the other politically inspired violence that has occurred since that one very isolated incident

Missed this the first time, but I must say this is a commendable take
and an approach we should all strive for

I know our conversation veered off a little bit, but since there seems to be an irresistible pull to go from the topic of Schumer to Trump, I guess it doesn't matter much.

You seem to be baffled by how people can overlook Trump's faults and vote for him anyway. If Biden is the nominee, do you see yourself pulling the lever for him? Before you answer that, consider who Joe Biden is.

Unless we are just going to pretend that pedophiles don't exist, there are some real red flags that there is problem with Biden: (forgive the music, you may want to turn down the sound)

And it may be worth considering why Biden's earlier campaigns for presidency failed so fast:

Really, Biden's a pedophile? That's what you're going with? That's the right's plan to discredit and defeat him?

Maybe we need a board policy about posting completely unfounded :poop::poop::poop: for discussion. Because if this is where we're at in March, I'd hate to see what crap is going to be posted by the time we get to November.

Go back and read what I wrote again. Then watch the video.

I will pull the lever for Biden if he is the nominee. I have nothing much to say about the bizarre accusation that he is a pedophile. I don't like Sanders at all, but I would vote for him over Trump. I would vote you in over Trump.

Its not just that he has some faults. We all do. All presidents do.

Its like if we searched the US for the worst possible human being we could find and made him president. I have never thought this of any president, I have voted for republican presidents.

Its hard for me to think of a bigger narcissist or serial liar I have ever known than Trump.

I have enjoyed a few exchanges we have had BF, every now and then we even agree on something. But calling Biden a pedophile? I cant imagine what crazy conspiracy websites you must go to to find this stuff.

Did you watch that video? I have never once seen an adult male groping a child like that. And he does it over and over.

I see red flags and I have no idea how anyone else can fail to see them. Totally bizzare ro me.

What about his habitual lying and plagiarism? I really don't know how he passed by the character and fitness inquiry to sit for the bar.
