My post was directed at Farb, my bad for not quoting him in it. He had asked how many police officers committed suicide after the BLM protests. I believe he did it as a way of trying to minimize the effects of the Jan 6 insurrection on the police who were there. I agree with most of what you said.
I don't know if anyone notice the slide of hand, but suddenly.. well after the FBI released it's finding (take that with a grain of salt), it is not called an insurrection any longer but a riot. That is interesting. Any thoughts?

Disclaimer for @cuddlemonkey and @MT15. I am not all that familiar with Salon. I believe it leans left, if not, ok. I don't read Salon. I have maybe read like 2 or 3 articles from there in my life. There are also other news sources providing this story, if Salon is not up to you standards.

My first thought is that article uses both 'insurrection' (including in the headline) and 'riot' throughout, and so I'm not sure who it is you're referring to when you say "it is not called an insurrection any longer"?

Don't watch twitter, watch the media. They are now calling it a riot.

It is not unusual, you guys just don't see it. They tell you all one thing, you guys rabidly defend it as if it was truth. It then turns out that it was was false or factchecker partly false but they don't defend it anylonger, they just move on and you guys are still trying to hold a hill that they abandoned you on and you slowly realize it and then retreat and dig in on their new hill.

A great example is just about anything from 2016 to 2020. The Covington Catholic kids, Smollett, the evidence in plain sight, Antifa not being real, Epstein story being covered up, the Steele Dossier, and most police shootings, especially of a black person.

I’ve seen/heard it called a riot at least, if not more than, I’ve seen/heard it called an insurrection. This isn’t anything new.
I have too to be fair. So lets all watch how the 'language' used starts to shift since the insurrection narrative if falling apart.

    It can MAP experiment!

I don't care what they call it, that was an insurrection and it will always be one. I saw what happened on that day with my own eyes and no amount of gaslighting by the right wing will ever change what happened on Jan 6th.

I don't watch much cable news, but it wouldn't surprise me at all that they would moderate the description of the insurrection for the sensibilities of conservatives and moderates and not wanting to seem too partisan/extreme. The media is always doing that and "both sides" coverage.

But you just linked to media that calls it an insurrection as well as a riot.

And here's ABC news calling it an insurrection: "planning to reinstall protective fencing that surrounded the U.S. Capitol for months after the Jan. 6 insurrection"
And Business Insider: "The FBI released new footage Wednesday of a person suspected of planting explosive devices in Washington, DC, hours before the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol."
Buzzfeed News: "They shed new light on what Capitol Police knew about threats to the Capitol leading up to the Jan. 6 insurrection"
Opinions in the Washington Post ("It is strange to think that even as we approach the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, some two decades later we’re consumed with sorting through another nationally traumatic and transformative attack on the country — the Jan. 6 insurrection attempt by supporters of Donald Trump.") and the New York Times ("Skirmishes with the Washington, D.C., police ahead of the insurrection revealed how the insurrectionists saw themselves.").

And that's just from the last 24 hours.

Referring to it as a riot as well as an insurrection isn't new, and it's clearly still being referred to as an insurrection, so where are you getting this idea that it isn't from?

Thanks for the first entry into MAP experiment!

Yeah, that pesky alt right wing FBI. I applaud you on this. The media will tell you one thing while your eyes tell you something different. I feel the exact same way. I hope your eyes told you the same thing during the BLM riots.

Calling it a riot is not new, despite how much you're told it is:
These results are from 1/10/2021 - 8/31/2021. It includes links from NBC, Reuters, CBS, NYT, CNN, BBC, the AP etc etc etc.

The same date range for "capitol insurrection". You'll notice there are fewer mentions of "insurrection" in the title, as opposed to the results for "riot". I'm not sure why I'm bothering though, you'll just move some goalpost as to why it proves your point.

It doesn't. Your attempts to constantly both sides the insurrection with BLM are exhausting and unconvincing.

This is Mother Jones, but appears to be legit. I don’t think the insurrection bit is falling apart at all.

See, and I would say your constant attempts to downplay BLM riots and make a riot by those you are politically opposed seem as an armed revolution/insurrection are both exhausting and unconvincing as well as well as devoid of actual facts and not feelings but yet here we are. Fun huh?

Considering I don't know who mother jones is and I don't know what an oather keeper is, I will wait until a something more tangible comes out
Didn't they seize members of congress's phones too recently?

Um, no, they did not, Farb. The fbi wasn’t involved in that, that was the independent committee investigation from Congress. And they asked that all the carriers preserve the phone records of a list of Congress critters who were insurrection adjacent.

The Congress critters named squealed as if their phones had been seized by the FBI, but not yet. Hopefully that will eventually happen.

OathKeepers are a far right group that might be considered “accelerationist”. They were involved in the Jan 6 riot/insurrection. It can be both, you know.

Lol. Downplay? What have I done to downplay it? Not talk about it in relation to the insurrection? Maybe that's because they're not related, so the only reason to talk about both in a related sense is to downplay the insurrection. Like you're doing. 😂

You have funny definition of words.

Ok, I thought I remember the FBI pulling phone records and something with Brooks too but I think you are right from what I remember now.
