People like Greg Abbott make me wish heaven and hell existed because that piece of trash should burn in the afterlife.
But is Greg holding a gun to anyone's head?

What I mean is that he's giving orders that *could* be refused, but aren't.

Every one of these scumbags at the top is enabled by a host of scumbags beneath them. These low-level guys, the ones who drive the buses, fly the planes and herd victims on and off shouldn't escape contempt.

Yeah that was an Illinois bus company who took that job to cart those people around in the middle of the night and then kick them off the buses in the middle of nowhere. At least presumably. They should be under investigation from the IL AG right now.

I'm glad you spoke up about this. Putting all the accountability on the person who gives the order is a common mistake that is made. Hitler didn't actually kill 17 million people by himself. He had a lot of help from a lot of people. You know who knows that better than anyone, the German people. The German people owned up to their collective responsibility for the mass murder. They passed laws, built memorials and teach every generation about the mistake they made in a way that is focused more on preventing that same mistake from happening again as opposed to blaming, shaming and wallowing in guilt.

Trump, Abbott, Alex Jones, and other political and media leaders are completely responsible for their contributions to the harm they help to create, but the people who directly hurt the highest number of people are the people who do what those leaders ask/tell them to do. Without hundreds to thousands of people cooperating with Trump, Abbott, Alex Jones and their ilk, a lot fewer people would end up being harmed.

I never saw any news saying he did it, so I'm disappointed that Biden failed to purge the entire Border Patrol. Because there's way, way too many of them who were happy to split up families and fine with misplacing a thousand children.
If you got into the job so you could get paid to abuse brown people, you shouldn't have that job.

Was it you that made the same point regarding the SS agents employed when the insurrection on Jan 6th happened? It's the same logic of accountability and I agree regarding both border patrol and SS agents.

I’m pretty sure Biden changed out the entire WH Secret Service. I don’t think he could fire them, at least not easily, but they were all reassigned. Just going from memory.

And I saw today that NYC is suing a bunch of bus charter companies, seeking restitution for the money they had to expend when they dumped migrants out on the streets of NY. I also saw where Abbott has taken to having the buses dump them off in NJ now, presumably because of the legal threat from NY.

Dean Phillips is a total idiot. This is the same thing the GOP did in several states did for Trump in 2020, and many other incumbent presidents of both parties. Bush, Obama, etc. He knows this. It’s a dishonest tweet.

This time it’s personal. On Friday Joe Biden tore into his predecessor Donald Trump as never before. He brimmed with anger, disdain and contempt. He apparently had to stop himself from swearing. So much for “when they go low, we go high” – and plenty of Democrats will be just fine with that.

If Biden was seeking to jolt his half-conscious 2024 re-election campaign into life, this may have done the trick. The palpable loathing of Trump took a good 10 or 20 years off him. Keep hating like this and he might do a Benjamin Button all the way to election day.

There is no better illustration of Biden’s evolution than a speech he delivered on the first anniversary of the January 6 insurrection. On that occasion, he denounced a “web of lies” but never mentioned Trump by name, preferring to cite the “former president”. Those were still the days when he would talk about “the former guy” and get a laugh.

Two years on, in an address near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, Biden spoke the name “Trump” more than 40 times in less than an hour as he warned that his likely 2024 opponent would sacrifice American democracy to put himself in power. The 81-year-old president generally seems like a grandfatherly figure predisposed to give people the benefit of the doubt, which makes his detestation of Trump all the more striking.

Trump’s failure to act as a violent mob stormed the US Capitol, despite the pleas of staff and family members, was “among the worst derelictions of duty by a president in American history”, Biden said, noting that Trump went on to lose 60 court cases that took him back to the truth “that I had won the election and he was a loser”.

It was a jab to the ribs, since Trump hates nothing more than being branded a “loser”.

The president went on to recall how Trump has called the insurrectionists “patriots” and claimed there was a “lot of love” on January 6. At that, Biden shook his head, blinked and let out a gasp of disbelief, as if stunned anew by the assertion. “The rest of the nation, including law enforcement, saw a lot of hate and violence,” he said.

Biden furiously denounced political violence and Trump’s habit of joking about the big lie-influenced intruder who attacked Paul Pelosi, the former House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, with a hammer, saying: “And he thinks that’s funny. He laughed about it. What a sick – ”

He halted. At the last moment, the president of the United States had saved himself from uttering a profanity. The urge coursed through his body and found relief in his hands, which clenched into fists, as the crowd filled in with laughter and whooping. “My God,” Biden said. “I think it’s despicable, seriously, not just for a president but for any person to say that.”……..

    My overly simple response…

Should the state of Texas allow a 17 year old non-citizen to be on the presidential ballot if they want to run?
Clearly they should if the kid's a cult leader whose acolytes will riot if he's refused.

Still not counting on these polls, as I don’t think the pollsters have a good way to get a representative sample these days. But paying attention to the trend is the key.
