Soon you will be griping about us spending too much on hotels for "illegals".

The United States has a responsibility to help improve the living conditions in Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. That is the ONLY way to stop the flood of people at the border.

Not even Trump's policies did much to slow things down, it only caused a disaster on the Mexican side of our border. Covid was the only thing that made a significant impact on the numbers.

And the keyword(s) in that tweet are "temporary overflow." That's in direct opposition to "permanent residence until we can deport them or find some other way to get rid of them."

It's like the conditions when you go to jail and are on an "intake tier" before you get fully processed and are moved to where you'll be spending your stay. People who get arrested and know they aren't getting bonded out beg the staff to "get them to the back."

Not sure where to put this, but look who is trying to overturn a certified election.

    It's not just that though.

it's about 22 votes in question, and the lead was only 6.

I do agree that she should have gone to the courts. Not sure how much I buy the "not enough time before they certified" argument. I'd have at least tried, and then gone this route. Which, I guess has been used 100ish times. But, they have to present a case for why those ballots should be included.

This isn't as simple as just "over turning the election".

Trump wanted millions of votes thrown out.

Looks like Dems are trying to count these 22 ballots.

In re to the border situation, i have a couple of thoughts.. 1) As someone mentioned above, due to the nightmarish conditions in Guatemala , Honduras and some other countries, there is next to nothing we can do- if people are afraid of starving and dying where they are, then they’ll do anything to get away, no matter who is POTUS of America.. 2) Let’s not pretend that the situation wasn't a total cluster**** under Trump, or Obama before him, or Bush before him , etc... I was against Trump, his policies and his MAGA minions for numerous reasons- but unlike some, the border situation/cages, while extremely unappetizing, was NOT one of the major things i reamed Trump for during his embarrassment of an administration.. anyone feel free to check my post history, if i am mistaken then I’d love to know, since that wasnt nearly my biggest issue with Trump... which leads into my thought #3) While we can debate if the situation at the border is worse under Biden vs Trump, i feel that illegal immigration isnt even CLOSE to being one of the biggest issues in America... I think that is one of the main differences between Trump followers, and a lot of us who voted for Biden (or more accurately , against Trump)- most MAGAs will state that the top two problems with America are 1- POLITICAL CORRECTNESS and 2- ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION .... My personal view is that ”political correctness”, while it does indeed go overboard a lot- doesn’t even belong in the Top 50 things wrong with America.. Sorry, MAGAs- you’re just dead wrong.. most of it is them wanting a scapegoat, someone or something to blame for their own inadequacies and shortcomings.... and with regard to illegal immigration, while i think it’s a bigger problem that political correctness - i dont think it’s in the Top 10... We all know that the illegals make the economy run, and that they do thousands of jobs that Americans dont want to do, and for less money.. If you are someone who cannot admit that basic truth, then you are being disingenuous at best.. again, it goes back to Republicans/MAGAs trying to overcompensate for their ‘shortcomings’ if you know what i mean, and i think that you do.

The recount was done by a bipartisan recount board according to local election law. Hart hasn't even gone through all the proper legal channels like going to the courts. So now it's okay that Pelosi will apply her own standards to the election?

Why has there been a surge recently?

Why has there been a surge recently?

    1. There is always a surge this time of year.

    2. 2020 saw greatly reduced numbers due to covid. This created a backlog.

    3. They have more hope that they will be treated humanely when they get here since Trump lost the election.

    4. Things are getting progressively worse in their home country.

Even under Trump apprehensions at the border were increasing before covid hit. There was an initial decrease after he started separating families, but it had been increasing for about 2 years before the pandemic.

If you would read about this case, you would realize a couple of points:

Pelosi promptly seated the Republican who was certified without even a hint of a problem.

The democratic candidate has appealed to a (bipartisan, though more Ds than Rs) House administrative committee, which has decided to hear the case. The Democratic Central Committee is paying for the legal representation, but this isn’t really something you can actually complain about, after what we just witnessed with the presidential election, is it? That a political party should back one of their candidates? 🙄

This has nothing to do with Pelosi. It was speculated in that Politico article, which reads like an opinion piece BTW, that Pelosi had blessed this effort because of information from ...... wait for it....an anonymous source. Dude, apply your standards to your own self.

Why is it our responsibility, sincere question?

Was is it an anonymous Intelligence source that has a long history of lies and deceit? Nope. I see you are using your other method of deflection. Saying it's just an opinion piece.

The Democratic Central Committee is paying for it but according to you we shouldn't pay attention to that? I didn't vote for Trump or support any of his actions in regards to the election, but nice attempt at a strawman. There's no way this goes forward without Pelosi's blessing.

Do you think it had anything to do with this or is it just a coincidence?

Do you think it had anything to do with this or is it just a coincidence?

What specifically do you mean by "this"?

I already said that one of the drivers was that they had hope they would be treated humanely when they get here since Trump lost the election.

Why were the numbers so high in the spring of 2018 and 2019? Did Trump have open borders?

I'd say that having these countries be strong, healthy places where their economies will support their population and reduce the number of people leaving to come here. Seems like a mutual benefit for both us and them.
I would agree with that, but positive policy decisions doesn't constitute a responsibility.
