Biden stepping down - now what? (3 Viewers)

Oh for forks sake. CNN is now reporting that Manchin is considering re-registering as a Democrat to run. Please fork off Manchin.

Earlier today I saw others doing the VP guessing game, I thought about putting Manchin's name in the hat as a joke.

I guess if he's actually going to try, I might as well go ahead and pick him for the veepstakes, I'm sure no one will mind that I take his number, leaving all of the others numbers, to all of the others who want to play veepstakes.

So I've got his number, and I do know how to spell his name. The reason Manchin would be a good pick is he's 76, in good health, he would be able to finish a 4 year term, but he would then be 80. Too old to try to run on his own in 8 years when he would be 84, and no worry that the party would choose him over anyone else anyway.

He might actually be able to bring West Virginia into play, and Montana, If Arizona is a concern he might help there, and Nevada. He would help to shore up all of those swing state problems.

The results of an irritating blue dog pick like him to balance the ticket might surprise you. Kamala is perceived as too liberal by many voters, Picking another too liberal would be ideal. Especially picking one who's too old to try to use it to springboard into the Presidency on his own.

I think he'd be ideal, besides I think Biden and he are friends. Maybe Harris and he are friends as well.

Historically this trend cannot continue. It leads to very bad things happening.

Yup, I personally think it's at the root of the lonely, angry young men mansphere thing popping up. There isn't a single Republican policy that will help them.

More than $5 million per hour with these estimates...

Yes, indeed, a small part of that is my donation. I made that donation during in the first half hour.

MSNBC via Politico: in his meeting with advisors last night, Biden was informed that internal polling showed he no longer had a path to victory. As Steve Kornacki pointed out, that’s still subjective and could have changed. Trump reached that same point in 2016. But it signals that Biden took the news seriously and acted in what he must have believed is in the best interests of our country.

It also indicates the work the eventual nominee has to do to turn the tide.

I figured a lot of the calls for Biden to step aside by elected officials were related to what they were seeing themselves in internal polling.

It's not just this, but the contrast of polling of senate candidates in the same swing states. It was clear voters were rejecting Biden alone.
