It sounds like you are implying that Trump’s own violent rhetoric played a part in his assassination attempt. Is that accurate?

So let’s think about this logically for a minute.

1. Trump has spent years putting the idea out there that violence is an acceptable way to counteract your political opposition, this is objective fact. It started even before he became president (remember him asking his followers to rough up or knock out protestors at one of his rallies and promising to pay their legal fees?) This call to violence has been a constant through point to his political career, and still is today.

2. A member of his own party tried to kill Trump, a person who was a gun enthusiast, who was a conservative, whose family had a Trump sign in their yard until very recently. He used a weapon that the GOP refuses to ban and also refuses to regulate to the point that in PA you can carry this rifle openly to the area right beside a political rally. Trump has also bragged that he prevented any gun safety laws while he was president, because he wants a lot of guns in society.

3. When a person steeped in MAGA’s combination of accepting political violence and its gun culture uses a gun to try to carry out an assassination, where did this person obtain this attitude that it’s okay to use violence to solve political issues? Hmmmm.

Being former Military and having trained with and having been on security details... I have no idea how 2 counter teams with spotters less than 200 yards away didn't glass this guy and take him out prior to him getting off shots... especially when people on the ground and LEOs clearly spotted him prior to shots fired. It's gross negligence / failure of protocol at best... and I don't want to even entertain what it is at worst.

there is a thread I posted in here from a retired officer who worked these details. He explains thoroughly what zones there are and the responsibilities for each zone. I’ve posted it 2x in this thread, it’s well worth reading.

IIRC, the shooter was occupying the middle zone, which is often left to local or state LE to secure. He explains why the snipers didn’t see him at first, also.

That's not his platform. The GOP platform is his. He made edits to it last month cutting it from 60 pages to 16 including removing a national ban on abortion from it for the first time in 40 years. It was officially adopted today.

Well it was their candidate that almost got assassinated so I would expect some heated rhetoric after a historic event like that eventhough I don't agree with them.

Did you assume their side wouldn't be angry especially because Trump would be dead right now if he hadn't turned his head?

Do elected officials have any type of responsibility to use measured words in a crisis? Or should they just pop off before all the facts are out? You seem to be excusing their leadership failures.

The rights main focus is how such huge security failures would have gotten Trump assassinated had Trump not turned his head.

When the security is so bad and they missed obvious things it leads people to conspiracy theories.

No it doesn’t. Or it shouldn’t. It was a failure of at least one part of a 3-pronged security effort. That failure is compounded by the location of the venue, and probably many other things we don’t know about yet. Posting every angle and some of them multiple times doesn’t do anything - we don’t have the information we need to prove anything one way or the other.

I wonder what would happen if he varied off the course of the officially adopted platform and went with Project 2025. Would he get fired?

Also, is this a project 2025 platform? Because if it is, I can’t get behind it unless he promises to bring back Super Popeyes.

well, to be fair, the mobs who did the burning were wearing masks and hiding their identities. the ones who stormed the capitol did it proudly with their identites out in the open thinking there would be no consequence.. how many people were arrested at the capitol the same time it went down compared to how many were arrested later because their faces were plastered on their own social media bragginh about what they did?

And at least one place in Minneapolis a riot was purposefully started by a white supremacist hoping to start a race was. Remember black umbrella guy? We all saw the video. He was subsequently identified by people online, but never changed, IIRC. He wasn’t the only one that was part of an extremist group who incited violence during the BLM protests. They took it as a golden opportunity to increase racial tensions.

Funny how that never gets mentioned by anyone who is chiding Democrats and BLM for the violence that happened. They never acknowledge it.

I think it's more likely that he registered republican after donating to the Democrat group was to vote for Haley on the primary. We don't know anything for sure right now. He could be like some other shooters who had mixed political leanings.

We know a lot more than you are letting on. AFAIK, the only time he voted was in the 2022 midterms. 3 classmates have described him as decidedly conservative. Neighbors came out today with the fact that the family home was displaying a Trump sign in their yard until very recently.

Beyond that - there are several reasonable explanations for the one-time donation that don’t involve him being a secret Democrat. (which is absolutely the least likely scenario). My favorite is that he lost a bet - the one time donation happened while he was still in high school, exactly on the day Joe Biden was inaugurated. It sounds very reasonable that he bet someone that Biden wouldn’t be inaugurated - a lot of MAGA people were convinced of that at the time - and took a bet with a classmate who was a democrat that involved a donation by the loser.

After an assassination attempt? Uh, nah. Maybe the next day or something, but certainly not the same day he's been admitted. I'm not sure why it's important anyway tho.

Maybe none of you remember when Reagan was shot? Or JFK? Well I know you don’t remember that I one, I was in second grade.

It’s customary to give medical press conferences for these things. Trump has denied it, it’s another tradition broken, and the public has a vested interest in knowing about the health and injuries to someone who wants to be President.

Just like he made a joke out of his yearly medical reports when he was president.

Nick Fuentes has been ranting about him on his channel, for one. Alex Jones had a discussion recently with an ally of Flynn about an assassination of Trump and how whoever comes next will be so much better than Trump, who they consider showing weakness about abortion and gun rights at the moment and his denial of Project 2025. This is all going from memory so I may have the exact issues they are upset about wrong.

Fuentes followers, in particular, fit the exact demographic of the shooter. They call themselves groypers if you want to look them up. Of course that is speculation, but it seems at least somewhat plausible.

I haven't seen that. The two I saw didn't seem to know him personally. Just observed him sitting alone and getting picked on a lot.

Pretty sure it’s in this thread somewhere. 2 students have said he was conservative. One girl who said the kids he hung out with would wear MAGA hats, but the real persuasive one was a boy who took Government with him. He said the class often had debates and the shooter always took the conservative stance. He said it was pretty memorable. He also repeated that the shooter was a nice kid and not a troublemaker.

I sure wish we could find some reliable warning signs for this kind of mental break or radicalization, whichever it was.

It also seems somewhat plausible (given the release of the party’s platform), that Trump has no interest in Project 2025. I wouldn’t vote for him either way, but given the information you are presenting it seems less likely that he will roll with 2025.

So I suppose we will have to agree to disagree on his commitment to 2025.
