I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

Did the GOP really expect a $500 billion unsupervised fund run by Mnuchin to fly?

Didn't he and Pelosi spend hours hashing out an assistance bill? What happened to it?

Oh, of course, Senate Republicans happened to it.

This one isn't from CNN - it's from the "Republicans for Rule of Law" group.

You posted this on February 2nd in the thread on the other board:

I think the volume of the outbreak overwhelmed the Chinese medical system and Beijing was too late to act. If other nations can stay ahead of the volume, the mortality should be much lower - I think. But it’s too early to tell just how lethal this thing is.

We shouldn't be as forked as we are, ughh.

In times of crisis you need people who can lead. Please show me how Trump is doing this. He has at numerous times countered existing CDC plans. He keeps attacking people and when not involved sits there with his arms crossed distancing himself. Nothing about him says leader, but then he never really has been one. The other part is Trump has spent 4 years being combative towards everyone. In the middle of a crisis, he’s still the same way, and the thing is people are going right back at him. He has set this tone.

He’s had since December to watch what was going on. Did his administration prepare? No. Did they start making plans to get effective test kits out? No. Did they get together and say whoa we need to get our hospital supplies ramped up? No again. All of these things that could have been done were not being done.

This is a prime example just how seriously the republican leadership is taking this.

A doctor going to a gym the that is still open while waiting on test results.

Everything about what he has done was wrong.

At this point we need to get law enforcement involved.. I'm all about freedom of tge individual, but this foolish behavior is risking the lives of so many.

But they were being healed through the power of god. And people wonder why I have the thoughts on religion I do.

Mayor of NO announced yesterday that the city is taking down all basketball goals
walking the dog by the park with my boys yesterday and the park was FULL - court was full, baseball diamond was in use, people throwing footballs off to the side
we then decided to not approach and go to another park - one that just has kids play equipment and an open field and there were zero people there??

Louisiana is going to have some serious problems in a couple weeks. Not to say it’s not happening in California, but it’s very rare to see groups of people.

Sure, you libs might be mad when you learn in like December that hundreds of millions of dollars from the U.S. government's secretive corporate slush fund was given to the Trump Organization to prop up its failing hotel and golf course businesses. But that would make you ungrateful for accepting your one time means test-adjuster payment of $1,200. Why can't we all be united?

Kids in my neighborhood were (and still are) all playing together at the end of the block. The parents have been getting together and even had a crawfish boil yesterday.

I feel like if Fox hadn't been parroting Trump's nonsense about it being a hoax, we'd be seeing a more serious response around here. Even now since he's said it's a big deal, I'm still seeing/hearing that it's overblown.

If they had only stayed off that lawn!

Putting them all in a group doesn’t quite seem like the best idea though heh

My local cops start at $8 per hour... After about 60 days they can go up to $10... BUt I got 15 of them in a town of less than 1 sguare mile.

BTW- That's the Mayors house... It's a rich neighborhood. That's why I live here.

I am sure they were following the CDC guidelines on social distancing right up to that very moment.

It's both poetic justice and karma that Paul finds himself infected. Maybe he'll pull through or maybe not. Time will tell. If he doesn't then karma will have run its full course.
