I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

    what group? one person?

Talking about the overall tone of the thread, but there have been at least two who have said they would welcome a stock market crash.

I appreciate those who aren't rooting for disaster.

we have a thread over on the EE board if you wish to partake.

If you are unaware of the lack of testing ability the US has currently, then you havent been paying attention.
I am aware of it, and I cannot seem to think of a way to blame that on the Trump Administration.

They been batting 1000 so far...

But aside from that, you guys are more concerned with this virus getting Trump out of office than approximately 60% of our population becoming sick, shutting down our economy, schools and business' while killing 2% of our countries citizens...

if there ever was an example Trump Derangement Syndrome this has to be it...
Joe maybe head over to the media literacy thread before trying this again
ONE person said he’d give up his 401k to get trump out - another ONE agreed (that’s 2 if you’re counting)
Nothing about the virus - no one wished harm on anyone else
And even if you want to chase it back and make more rhetorical leaps, it’s trump’s RESPONSE to the virus that has the markets jumpy and is what posters are complaining about

All that being said, what do you hope to accomplish by trotting our the TDS nonsense?

then why ask? you clearly have your position and if you have been keeping up, clearly see the disconnect between Admin and response, yet choose to think the blame lies elsewhere.

    carry on.

How do you figure that? The sell-off began as a direct response to Apple's warnings.
Or maybe you mean Trump's ban on travel from Wuhan province and the Administration's further travel warnings about China, Korea, Japan, and now Italy? If so, wouldn't not doing so make it much more likely the virus to spread?

Geez. Why ask? Its a discussion board. You made the claim but apparently don't want to talk about it. So why engage here at all?

You know just as well as I do that the comment was that the decomrats don't need to screw up a perfectly good pandemic , cause they can use it to beat Trump.

It is. and im more than willing to engage in discussion. However, your initial post was indifferent - " what lack of response?"

thats not discussion. I pointed out the EE thread, to which you said you were aware of and by that reply, its clear you have read the issues with the CDC and Administration and coordination.

    But refuse to acknowledge that.

So, if we are already beginning a discussion with certain items you are removing from discussion, why even have it?

You can catch up on the CDC and Administration issues and we can then have a proper discussion going forward.

LOL - so, you just threw something out there without any thinkg to back it up.

and yet people still arriving from Korea.

    Untested.

And the sell-off wasnt a direct response to Apples guidance warnings. I think you got your tech cos mixed up too.

one for sure yeah. But thats not really indicative of the tone here imo.

    Nope
    Again - media literacy
Take a cue from the candidates, few we’re really talking about the virus much at all until Trump came in with ‘blame Dems and/or the press’
NOT the virus, the RESPONSE to the virus
    I mean pence ? Really?
    Pence?

    His own 401k
    Then another said ‘mine too’
You and Joe need to try harder
I don’t expect y’all to get to JimE’s level, but you can at least try for discourse

Isn't Pence the VP? The m9ve makes sense decause he can devote 100% of his time to it...

I tell ya, If Trump had of assigned this to a cabinet member you guys would have complained Trump didn't take it serious enough to assign it to the VP.... LOL.

I'm not jumping on you Joe, but how about we choose someone with the slightest bit of qualifications? This is akin to a good job Brownie moment. Maybe we can choose someone who specializes in infectious disease or disaster response, maybe a transportation background?

    the VP who discredits science.

Or the gag order issued to members of the Coronavirus task force that any public address has to be approved by the Administration.

I think thats where people have the issue Joe.

I really dont care at this point. Someone needed to be in charge. Ill reserve judgement til this has passed. He may do just fine, very well or poor.

But im almost certain, 99% of the population is rooting for success.
