I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

The irony is that if Trump handled the pandemic like a reasonable adult, he probably would have beaten Biden handily -- so ignoring the election yet focusing on his presidential duties would have been the better strategy.

It's a thing the Democrats forget (because politics is hard, y'all.) But Republicans won in 2020. They gained House seats and held the Senate majority save for a Herculean effort in Georgia.
The GOP effed-up and effed-over America as hard as they possibly could and still won. Only Trump lost and his mishandling of Covid is the reason.
Trump was never going to win the popular vote. He got curbstomped the first time around, so there's no reason to think he wouldn't again.
He lost because those few thousand strategically placed voters who carried him last time were sick of seeing C19 run rampant and sick of Trump's denials and a lot of them were just plain sick.

The media elected Trump in 2016 with free publicity. They did so because of ratings. The media defeated Trump by showing he was a butt crevasse. However, Covid was the miracle the Democrats wanted.
