I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

I go into the office twice a week, and every week I notice more and more closed businesses. The “lock down” ended months ago.

Places are going out of business because of the virus. My office is 95% working remote because people don’t feel safe working in the office because of the virus. As long as it’s a threat overall spending will be depressed, and people spending money is what drives the economy.
My office is 100% working in the office and it pisses me off. I think it's going to take one of us catching COVID before we actually go back to working remotely - which we totally can do. This is the result of everyone in my office parroting the line lately that "COVID will be gone on November 4th after Trump wins." I want to slap all of them.

I see that last bit a lot. Just willful ignorance.

I mocked my brother in law so bad for saying that I had the whole family laughing at him. He hasn't repeated that yet again.

Some things like that and Q I think you just have to make people see how stupid they sound and it gives them a shock to the system.

It's up there with "Of course there's another hurricane out there, it's election week"

What's even worse is I have to play along as a Trump supporter or basically be ostracized. I get all of the stupid chain emails and shirt like that. I just don't open them and never bring up politics at all. When they do, my go to answer is, "You may be right." Period. End of conversation.

God, I hope that turd loses in a landslide tomorrow.

if that happens would you be able to keep a giant smile off your face on Wednesday at work? or still play along?

Now think of the gymnastics i have to do not only IN my own office, but with a grand majority of my clients that start talking politics.

Luckily, I have two doctors' appointments on Wednesday and will only be in the office in the morning. But, no, I don't think I'll be able to hide it if it gets called for Biden on election night. And the second I leave for the day at around 11:00 I'll be wearing my "Make Orwell Fiction Again" t-shirt that MAGAts think is a MAGA shirt at first glance.

Dude, I feel you. Half of my clients are Trump supporters (Metairie) and the other half aren't (Orleans). I just have to know who I'm talking to at the time. The past month the Trumpers keep bringing up how he's going to win while the others typically start griping about Trump so it's been kind of easy.

    You may be right

Somebody a while back mentioned the Sturgis rally. This is pretty damning.

Yep before that rally that the city residents fought to not have and the city pushed it thru they had like next to none in covid-19 infections.

That was a massive spreading event. People from every state attend that thing and took it for a ride all across our country. The numbers you are looking at are the tip of the iceberg.

That is where we needed a real leader that would stop crazy virus spreading events from happening.

It is a shame because rural America doesn't have the hospitals in the first place.

Oh, now we need to help states.

Who wants to be Kentucky is going to have a major budget short fall?

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Wednesday that a coronavirus relief package should be passed before year's end. He suggested aid for state and local governments, a big Democratic priority, could form part of the plan as well.

"We need another rescue package. The Senate goes back into session next Monday," he said during an event in Kentucky. "Hopefully the partisan passions that prevented us from doing another rescue package will subside with the election. And I think we need to do it and I think we need to do it before the end of the year."

Also, they can pin it on Biden when they become concerned about deficits.

Theres some major gaslighting going on with (R)
I heard before the election trump boasting to a crowd that he did more more for farmers etc, by giving them 28 billion.
Reality is his "trade war" resulted in almost bankrupting the farmers and they had to send them WELFARE to keep them afloat. Oh, but don't call it welfare, because that is only for a certain demographic which they don't want to be associated with
