I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

So the Coronavirus thread on the EE board is closed...wth?
No, seriously. Between the daily trackers and news of possible treatments, governmental responses, etc. closing that thread is flatly insane. It's the Number One news issue of the day (all due respect to BLM) and the thread's locked?

Dan, if you're reading this: I love you like a brother man, but come on. It's like closing a hurricane thread before the storm hits.
A new thread is back open in its place

George W. Bush's biggest mistake was flying over New Orleans after Katrina and trying to look concerned while staring out the window in that photo op. In hindsight he should have just pretended it didn't happen while posting on MySpace about cable news and sports teams disrespecting him.

I'd go with lying to get us in a decades long useless war. But opinions do vary.

They're not stupid. I'm just not intelligent enough to understand.

Looks like opening schools will be the next stupid mole hill people will die on...

Will all parents demand masks, or will that segment win out too?

    Depraved indifference.

Even more ppp money (if I had lost a small business because of this I'd be rather upset)

These anti-maskers need to go. This one is "special."

He felt threatened and showed it by approaching the threat like any rational person who is scared would do. He's wearing a shirt that he bought all by himself. Note the historically accurate map of the U.S. circa 1776. Note the factual statement that the U.S. was running the world in 1776. Marvel at the way that he wears his sunglasses. I'm not intelligent enough to understand the benefit of wearing them in such a way. I agree with the internet that this is, likely, an off duty cop.

I don't remember foul language but I might have missed it.
