I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

They did so specifically because prior reseach had shown that those patients was in greater risk of having a negative outcome when treated with hydroxychloroquine

Right, which goes along with about what I have figured.. that it can be useful in some cases but that it's not a general solution to the problem and that's in no small part due to hydroxychloriquine itself and its potential danger to the individuals who are also most at risk for having Covid complications (like ones with preexisting cardiac issues).

His assumption that the only reason the results of this study are surprising is because the media has it out for Trump is incorrect. It is surprising because it is an outlier from every other trial. His premise is flawed.

Dear lord. The “media” put up with his championing of hydroxychloroquine far too long with far too little pushback.

The “media” didn’t stop two separate studies because of bad outcomes for the patients who were using it. Do you know how bad things have to get to stop a study before the conclusion? People were being hurt and damaged by it.

A pretty big day for Ontario, which has been seeing a declining trends in cases and hospitalizations. No new COVID deaths for the first time in months.

During the peak period of the disease, the province saw dozens of deaths per day. The province reported the highest single-day death count on April 30, saying that 86 people died due to the disease within a 24-hour period.

there is, however, a bit of lesser good news. We've been staying under 200 cases per day for the province, but we've been 121/138/154 the last three days. So it's ticking up a bit so they are watching closely.

The local pool requires a name, phone number, and email address for contacting in case of a breakout and for contract tracing purposes. We aren't going anyway, but it's one measure a friend made us aware of that was recently implemented.
