I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

Obama had 1000x more class and poise than Trump. Yet it didn't prevent the birtherism nonsense or the charge he was "the most divisive President EVER."

If Obama had said the "black" version of what Trump says routinely, y'all would be losing your minds about him being racist and soiling the dignity of the Oval Office.

But Trump says what he says, and y'all think it's funny or "telling it like it is," or putting the "elites" and "liberal media" in their place.

So, yeah, if Trump were a poc or woc saying his nonsense, people like you wouldn't be cheering him on and he wouldn't have been elected President in the first place.

No, I wouldn’t. But feel how you wish about me.

Obama is much more articulate and eloquent than Trump, of that there is no doubt. I’d love to have some beers with Obama. Even though I disagree with many of his policy’s.

    Jesus Christo!

Why was RDJ's character Gold? A little thing called Satire.

What the HELL has Trump done that you feel is inadequate in the response to a global pandemic not seen since the spanish flu in the early 1900"s??

I honestly need someone to spell out his/administration's failures in the response to this, other than keeping Dr. Fauci in a position of power and allowing him (Fauci) to speak to the media as often as he did?

I have a whole lot to say on this, but it will take a while. So if anyone wants to list the failures so we can point/counterpoint, I'll be happy to address them along the way.

I don't know you well enough to know whether you would've been losing your mind, and not2rich probably wasn't speaking of you per se, but there is no doubt that the right would've lost their mind if a leftist jerk acted remotely like Trump, and I believe most of America would be losing their mind, because frankly, I think the left is less hypocritical than the right. The left has its jerks, but it's mostly jerks going too far to try to help less fortunate people, rather than the jerks on the right that support practices that hurt less fortunate people. Nevertheless, I think most of us recognize class when we experience it, and I wouldn't support a leftist jerk who threatened to destroy our democratic institutions.

I can dig that. I dislike em all. To varying degrees.

    1. Not having a plan in place for a pandemic.
    2. Dismissing intelligence reports warning of the pandemic.
    3. Not recognizing the significance of China taking extreme measures to contain the virus in Wuhan.
    4. Trusting China and praising them for "doing a great job" of containing the virus.
    5. Downplaying the threat throughout February while not taking any steps to prepare the U.S.
    6. Doing nothing to ramp up testing or PPE throughout February.
    7. Using March to endorse social distancing but otherwise doing little to ramp up testing, PPE, or hospital capacity, the responsibility for which he pushes on state governments.
    8. Ditto April.
    9. Endorsing "re-opening" of states without the Federal government having done the work to re-open.

And you think his only "failure" is to let Dr. Fauci run his mouth. Good grief.

    Thank you.

Like I said, this is going to take a while. So be patient.

You seem incapable of completing thoughts, what made it satire?

You claimed it a classy example of blackface, explain.
Sorry, if you don't know why the role was satirical, I'm not going to spell it out for you.

Go look up the definition and re-watch the movie. I don't owe you a book report.

Friendly advice, leave it alone. You’ll get nowhere with this person.
And I 💯 agree with you. The role and movie were both hilarious.

Oh I know what the creative intent was, the question is do you?

I asked three times why it was a positive example of imitation in blackface, but you cant seem to answer.

There is 3 letters that shall not be mentioned here that explains everything you just listed.

Taking away the financial aspect of medical care during this pandemic would save countless lives and instill confidence in our ability to get through this.

Unfortunately Republicans in Congress would rather folks die than any sort of "socialist" life saving policy for the people.
Both sides care not if many regular folks die. I can assure you of that.
That may be the only thing both sides ever agree on.

Bernie Sanders asked FDC commissioner Stephen Hahn during his senate hearing if any future vaccine would be available for free to the public.

He said "it will be available to everyone who wants it."

Asked again, to clarify, "For free?"

    "It will be available."

Asked a third time, "For free, at no cost to the patient?"

That would really be something. Refusing to subsidize a vaccine like this and make it free where it would be in virtually the entire rest of the world will without a doubt make it less effective and kill a lot more Americans, who, after all this economic strife aren’t going to have lots of extra cash around to just buy shirt.

Edit: and let’s also not forget that a vast majority of drug research is initiated at the public level through various publicly funded institutions. To then take that research and reward the first to market company that gets it over the finish line to potentially gouge consumers who’s taxpayer money helped develop and test the drug is a different level of cruelty and late stage capitalist greed.

Oh I know there are Dems who would reject it too. But this would have a great chance at passing if most Republicans decided to put human lives over partisan politics. Instead you'll see every single one reject it, very likely.

Tells one a lot about priorities in this country.
