I fear we are really going to be in a bad place due to the obvious cuts to the federal agencies that deal with infectious disease, but also the negative effect the Affordable Care act has had on non urban hospitals. Our front line defenses are ineffectual and our ability to treat the populous is probably at an all time low. Factor in the cost of healthcare and I can see our system crashing. What do you think about the politics of this virus?

There were a couple of doctors from Bakersfield, CA that posted a video that showed data and science only to have it "De-bunked" because they were owners of an urgent care clinic, so somehow that discredits their findings. No actual data to disprove them however.

Um....would those be the two doctors who said that California has a 12% positive test rate, so they said that only 12% of California must be positive? As if 12% of the people tested somehow extrapolates to 12% of the population?

The two doctors who said that in New York there were 19,000 deaths from COVID-19 and there are 19 million people in the stated, so the mortality rate is 0.1%, then used the metric of Flu deaths vs Flu cases to show the flu has a higher mortality rate?

The two doctors who the American College of Emergency Physicians and American Association of Emergency Medicine put out a joint statement against for the doctors' "reckless and untested musings" that "are inconsistend with current science and epidemiology regarding COVID-19"?

Oh, I'm good with Darwin it's just too bad that this virus can't stick to only killing the people who are refusing to be safe and pragmatic. Unfortunately, there are lots of folks who are going to suffer due to the inability of others to follow advice in the name of "freedom."

Today where we are the beaches are open. We've gone from 300 cases to over 500 in the past 10 days and we aren't testing even a fraction of those who want them. In 2 weeks when we have another 500 or so cases and no room in our hospitals are we going to have to close down again?

Who’s jurisdiction does the National Guard fall under?

If the federal government decided that it wanted those tests can they order someone to disclose the location?

Can they be ordered by someone on the National level to stop guarding them?

States control them, unless the president issues an order to Federalize them.

Again, from our very own Wisconsin. A teenage girl went to Florida with a group and when she returned home she began experiencing covid symptoms. She went for medical treatment, but she did not meet the criteria for a test. She was later admitted to the hospital, and she posted a photo of herself with an oxygen mask stating that she had the Covid. She was finally given a test, it came back negative but it is speculated that by the time she received the test the viral load was too low for a positive result. Her discharge papers indicated she likely had Covid.

The school system did not like her posting she had picked up the virus, so they contacted the police who paid her family a visit demanding that she remove the post and stating she was creating a public disturbance.

Folks, this is not China. It's not the UK. This type of authoritarianism is not going to be tolerated here in these United States.

Although the guy discussing the lawsuit that followed is a Canadian lawyer, he seems like a decent enough guy and does a good job of breaking it down:

This was from a couple months ago, and it was probably during the time the Schools weren't closed yet. Parents were probably flipping out.

We have to open the throttle on the economy else we shall all be looking at a possible second Great Depression. However I totally agree that we will know in a couple of weeks.
I’ve complied with the mandate to distance the whole time, my family has too as much as possible, several nurses and docs can’t, obviously, and my mom works for the hospital delivering meds to those who are too sick to get out. Like you said we shall see how it looks in a few weeks.

I have a daughter who was in Europe when all of this started going down. If one of the kids on the trip had caught the virus, I would want to know.

I find your question about the purpose of the lawsuit to be odd. First, the lawsuit is not "old," it wouldn't surprise me if the defendants have not even answered yet.

Actually, both are not true. Trump never said to inject disenfenctant. You know this but you prefer to pretend otherwise.

For me the determining factor will not be hotspots, it will be whether the health care system is overwhelmed. Where that happens, I think it is fair to say that to the extent that area opened up it was a failure.

I can't speak to every instance, but if you look at the actual signs, you will see that swastikas are often used by people as part of a message that their political opponent is a nazi. That was clearly the case in the photo in this article.

It's like when the Bernie supporter showed up in counter protest to a rally carrying a huge swastika that had the names Trump and Pence on it. Unfortunately, some in the media ignored the message he was intending to send and simply reported, swastika at protest.

The woman with the slogan about work making you free is obviously a moron. Given the slogan's history, it doesn't even support her argument.
