Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

Did Will have his name legally changed to Lia? Serious question because I have been wondering.

Doesn't matter. Deadnaming and misgendering someone is a dick move, period. If I was named Steve at birth but asked you to call me by middle name because the Steve I was named after turned out to be an butt crevasse, would you still call me Steve?

Not to mix threads, but if someone tells me a woman is a man and a man is a woman, despite my 'eyes' and 'ears', they lose all credibility.
Yes, I can easily tell which one is male and female. All but 2 honestly. Do they have a procedure to remove an adams apple? If not, 1 has be photoshoped.

So... you lose all credibility in your own eyes?

Do you think that Emma Weyant will get another shot at a national champion?
She's a freshman and finished 1.75 seconds out of first place. She'll get another shot at NCAA national champion next year and probably two more times after that, in multiple events. She won a silver medal in the Olympics. She won a national championship in the 400 IM in 2019.

Who said they were a threat? I can't imagine anyone being threatened by a trans person.

    I don’t believe you.

Don't want to be labeled transphobic, don't deadname people. It's a dick move.

What do you mean by "deadname people"? If you mean that I used the name Will Thomas instead o Lia Thomas, do I really have to explain the joke? Well, I guess I do... it meant that Thomas was so great at swimming in the men's division that Phelps has Thomas pajamas, but since Will is now Lia, he put the pajamas in the closet.

And to be clear, I don't give a fork what you label me.

    After your edit...
I don't want to explain the joke again. Look above.
So now it's not "within the context of NCAA competition" (your words *and* your emphasis) but compared to one of the best swimmers *ever*.
What other context should be used? Aren't we talking about NCAA competitive swimming?

Deliberately deadnaming and moving the goalposts, yet complaining about being compared to Farb. :9:

    Again, see post above

What do you mean by "deadname people"?

Using the name they dropped during their transition.

Yeah, it's still not funny and it's still a dick move to deadname someone.

And to be clear, I don't give a fork what you label me.

Good for you. Reminds me a lot of a guy named Farb...

It would all depend on how you asked. Did you ask, or demand?

What about Reka Gyorgy? She had her 5 years so fork her right?

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2022/mar/20/virginia-tech-swimmer-reka-gyorgy-bumped-finals-ch/

“I’m a 5th year senior, I have been top 16 and top 8 before and I know how much of a privilege it is to make finals at a meet this big,” Gyorgy said. “This is my last college meet ever and I feel frustrated. It feels like that final spot was taken away from me because of the NCAA’s decision to let someone who is not a biological female compete.”
