Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

I lumped "puberty blockers" into the bullshirt notion of "protecting", so my point stands.

Maybe dad hid because he's a coward that denies healthcare to his own daughter. Maybe he and the cop are both pieces of shirt that shouldn't be anywhere near jobs as important as congressperson and police officer. They could have been worried about any number of things that weren't actually connected to reality. Just because someone is loudly chanting that you (generic you, not Farb) is a piece of forking shirt doesn't mean they are part of a mob.

You either have a stunningly weak grasp on reality or you're a troll. I think you are pretty sincere in your beliefs, so I lean towards the former. You're also one good push from being a traitor to this country, so there's that as well.
I think I struck a nerve. LOL because that was a lot of unhinged projection and mental gymnastics. All this war virtue signaling has really got the alt-lefts war hackles up! All this talk about cowards because they are hiding and what not. So you also agree the congressmen on 1.6 shouldn't be any where near a job like congress (you would have my support on about 95% of those up there) since they hid from folks chanting that they are corrupt?

Now back to my trolling I guess.....

So you are fine with a child getting puberty blockers because they think they might be a different sex?
I played army a lot a kid, why didn't my parents let me live my truth and ship me off to boot camp? Because I was a child and as such, I did not understand the real world. Do you know who is supposed to help a child use his imagination but also keep him grounded in reality? Parents. And I have the 'stunningly weak grasp on reality'?

But....since you brought it up, tell me what you think a 'traitor to this country' means to you?

"No" would have been a much shorter and more accurate answer.
Thanks, from you past positions, if you disagree with me, I know I am right the right track.

What do you think the underlying problem for people committing crime?

This is going to cause some real chaos
    ==============================

For A, the mother of a young transgender daughter in Houston, denying her child hormone therapy “is not an option.”

Few people know that A’s daughter is transgender, A said, but that could change once her child goes through puberty — something that could happen in a matter of months.

Her child’s doctors have recommended her daughter start taking puberty blockers at the first onset of such hormonal changes.

But on Friday, Houston-based Texas Children’s Hospital, the largest pediatric hospital in the country, announced it would stop prescribing gender-affirming hormone therapies.

The hospital said the policy was decided “after assessing the Attorney General’s and Governor’s actions,” which include a recent order from Gov. Greg Abbott (R) directing Texas’s child welfare agency to investigate reports of children receiving gender-affirming care as “child abuse.”

“The mission of Texas Children’s Hospital is to create a healthier future for all children, including transgender children, within the bounds of the law,” the hospital said in a statement.

“This step was taken to safeguard our healthcare professionals and impacted families from potential legal ramifications.”

The decision came as a major blow to Texas transgender communities in Houston and beyond that say they are terrified and confused about what the future holds.

This means more parents like A are now looking to get treatment out of state — or move altogether — to receive gender-affirming health care they say is crucial for their children to lead safe, healthy lives…….

I think I struck a nerve. LOL because that was a lot of unhinged projection and mental gymnastics.

What about my post makes you think my response was unhinged? And by "mental gymnastics", you mean the part where I said he's a coward that denies healthcare to his daughter and he's a piece of shirt that shouldn't be anywhere near the office he's running for? I mean, sure, if you want to call it that. Turns out I was right, though. This guy is a real winner.

    Nice false equivalency.

I am fine with children receiving medical care in accordance with the diagnoses made and treatments prescribed by their doctors.

    Another false equivalency.

But....since you brought it up, tell me what you think a 'traitor to this country' means to you?

There are a lot of things that could make one a traitor. Desiring to replace our entire government with a theocracy is one of them. If it makes you feel better, though, I can soften it a little and just say that I think you're a traitor to the ideals of the country instead.

Thank you! Like I said, when you disagree with, I know I am on the correct path.

"When people disagree with me, I know I'm on the correct path"

@Farb - Exceedingly, overwhelmingly and forever on the correct path
Key word was 'you' but you got that wrong but......you are still correct in your sentiment. LOL

But puberty blockers aren't gender-affirming; on the contrary, they prevent gender affirmation. So, what's the issue?

Great. But how do puberty blockers affirm gender?

You would probably get a better answer if you spoke with a transgender person or a parent who is supporting their transgender child. There's nothing wrong with discussing and debating it in a forum like this, but it often leaves out the thoughts, feelings and beliefs of those it would affect the most. And that's the problem with all of these new laws. The people most affected are either excluded or ignored in the process. As are the professional opinions and science of experts in this fields (which non of us are). And not only are the people most affected ignored, they are marked as targets by these laws for political gain.

The voices and opinions of concerned parents are valid, and it's easy to understand where two parents might disagree with what's best for their child or where the parents and child may disagree. These aren't usually easy situations. But helping parents make better decisions with their child or protecting children aren't the objectives of these laws. They're just made an issue to feed the right wing outrage.

"Pubertal blockers for transgender and gender-diverse youth
    By Mayo Clinic Staff

Transgender and gender-diverse children might choose to temporarily suppress puberty through the use of prescription medications called pubertal blockers. But deciding to get this treatment is a big step.

The medications mostly commonly used to suppress puberty are known as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues. Here's what you need to know about the benefits, side effects and long-term effects.

    What do pubertal blockers do?

Puberty's physical changes can cause intense distress for many gender-nonconforming adolescents. When taken regularly, GnRH analogues suppress the body's release of sex hormones, including testosterone and estrogen, during puberty.

    Sex hormones affect:

    • Primary sex characteristics. These are the sexual organs present at birth, including the penis, scrotum and testicles and the uterus, ovaries and vagina.
    • Secondary sex characteristics. These are the physical changes in the body that typically appear during puberty. Examples include breast development and growth of facial hair.
In those identified as male at birth, GnRH analogues decrease the growth of facial and body hair, prevent voice deepening, and limit the growth of genitalia.

In those identified as female at birth, treatment limits or stops breast development and stops menstruation.

What are the benefits of use of pubertal blockers?

Gender dysphoria is the feeling of discomfort or distress that might accompany a difference between experienced or expressed gender and sex assigned at birth. Gender dysphoria that starts in childhood and worsens with the start of puberty rarely goes away."
