Didn't really see a place for this so I thought I would start a thread about all things LGBTQ since this is a pretty hot topic in our culture right now

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/17/sup...y-that-refuses-to-work-with-lgbt-couples.html

    • The Supreme Court on Thursday delivered a unanimous defeat to LGBT couples in a high-profile case over whether Philadelphia could refuse to contract with a Roman Catholic adoption agency that says its religious beliefs prevent it from working with same-sex foster parents.
    • Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in an opinion for a majority of the court that Philadelphia violated the First Amendment by refusing to contract with Catholic Social Services once it learned that the organization would not certify same-sex couples for adoption.

I will admit, I was hopeful for this decision by the SCOTUS but I was surprised by the unanimous decision.

While I don't think there is anything wrong, per se, with same sex couples adopting and raising children (I actually think it is a good thing as it not an abortion) but I also did not want to see the state force a religious institution to bend to a societal norm.

That video is on SB 1414. The article you posted with your original comment is on SB 14. Those aren't the same bills.

Also, just because somebody mentions the LGBTQ+ community in some comments, it doesn't mean it's a position or agende held by the LGBTQ+ community as a whole.
I didn't bring up the LGTBQ community as being harmed by a bill that would make child trafficking/prostitution a felony, the California Dems did. Why do you think that is?

Twitter dump incoming to try to distract from this oof..lol

still no where have i seen the LGBTQ community oppose it.
The bill was blocked by Dems for that reason, according to them, on the floor. Heck, even Newsome was wondering why they blocked it and due to the backlash, they refloored it and added some strange age stipulation and then passed it. Still strange to make those comments. Why do you think they did say that then if everyone was for it as you say they are?

so now which bill are we talking about now? SB14 or SB1414, i'm losing track..

They clearly did not do that. The video you posted has nothing to do with the SB 14 that the article was about. Do you always have to be so dense? Smh.

No, I don't and didn't say the public school sexual abuse problem is related to the LGB movement.

I think the original question was why has there been push back 'in the last 8 years or so' on the LGTBQ movement. It was to imply that Trump was the cause, I replied there was push back because suddenly the LGTBQ movement began involving children. Then you all did what every marxist/leftist is trained to do and point at religion and the church. And here we are.
Again, you lie. Trans kids have existed before that. Likely for centuries. What you hate is that they are talked about openly.

As for Marxism? Marx’s statement related to wealth co-opting religion as a safety valve to keep workers in their place. The priest class as a hierarchy entity has sided with wealth power holders for centuries as long as the priest class hierarchy was allowed privileged position. Of course, there has always been those within the structure who sided with labor. That must gall you.

Where “we are” is that you hate LGBTQIA+ people, period, full stop.

Have the intellectual honesty to admit it.

Because conservative intellectually dishonest people will try to equate trans with trafficking and prostitution.

they already do. there are still states that refuse to remove sodomy laws off the books for obvious reasons. just like she said In that video.
if you read the article on the other Bill he's confusing, it actually mentions they use these laws to go after the victim when they are too scared to testify against the perp.

Might want to do some research on the bills and see if they are related.
    sure maybe bills are related.
so you admit the first bill you posted there was no outspoken lgbtq against it?
and that the second one you posted want from anyone in the community?

SFL: you said the bill about teachers and parents was idiotic. I gave you a good reason to leave it up to the teacher to decide if the parents need to be informed, which is the abuse that kids sometimes get if their parents find out about their gender issues. I have asked you to respond a couple of times, but heard nothing even though you were in this thread. One last time - I read this today. It’s an example of what happens to these kids.

Hundreds of thousands of transgender people could lose access to medical treatment or be forced to detransition under a little-known Republican effort to defund trans healthcare for both adults and children.

Since Republicans took control of the House of Representatives last January, GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill have quietly added a wave of amendments to "must-pass" government funding bills that would ban federal money from being used for gender transition procedures such as hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgery.

These riders vary widely in their scope and effect. Some target government health programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. Others would revoke insurance coverage for transgender government employees. Still others would bar federal funding for any institution that "promotes transgenderism".

Taken together, though, they would drastically curtail trans people’s access to medical care that advocates routinely describe as critical to their flourishing – much as the 1977 Hyde Amendment restricted abortion access in the wake of Roe v Wade.……..

    sure maybe bills are related.

    They are.
    about the 15 second mark:

Why do the article that you posted talk about SB 14, but the twitter videos you posted discus SB 1414? How are those bills different? How are they the same?

If you read the articles posted, you can figure it.
