What has China been up to lately? Not much, just the usual crimes against humanity and a new possible pandemic! Fun country.

"The Chinese government is taking draconian measures to slash birth rates among Uighurs and other minorities as part of a sweeping campaign to curb its Muslim population, even as it encourages some of the country’s Han majority to have more children.

While individual women have spoken out before about forced birth control, the practice is far more widespread and systematic than previously known, according to an AP investigation based on government statistics, state documents and interviews with 30 ex-detainees, family members and a former detention camp instructor. The campaign over the past four years in the far west region of Xinjiang is leading to what some experts are calling a form of “demographic genocide.”

The state regularly subjects minority women to pregnancy checks, and forces intrauterine devices, sterilization and even abortion on hundreds of thousands, the interviews and data show. Even while the use of IUDs and sterilization has fallen nationwide, it is rising sharply in Xinjiang.

The population control measures are backed by mass detention both as a threat and as a punishment for failure to comply. Having too many children is a major reason people are sent to detention camps, the AP found, with the parents of three or more ripped away from their families unless they can pay huge fines. Police raid homes, terrifying parents as they search for hidden children."

All I really know about it is Trump gave it a big old thumbs up. The whole concentration camp he was all behind.

Really China has been in population control for a very very very long time.

Really China has been in population control for a very very very long time.
China has relaxed it a bit, while trying to clamp down on ethnic minority groups.
Then there is also this going on.

I'd say in this case it is not about population control but rather trying to eradicate a certain group of people

"Since 2017, China has run a "Pair Up and Become Family" program in the region, in which Communist Party officials who are Han Chinese — the ethnic group that makes up most of China's population — stay in Uighur homes.

The program is to "promote ethnic unity," officials say, but it also lets the government keep a close eye on the Uighurs."

China must be looking at our crappy pandemic response and figuring that they can do just about whatever the hell they want to do right now. Who’s going to stop them? Not us, who cannot even wear masks to slow down a deadly pandemic. Whose president plays golf and retweets stupid videos for much of the day.

We have never looked weaker to the whole world than right now.

And the only country that can put real diplomatic pressure on them won't, because our President is personally cozy with Xi Jinping and is easy to make roll over.

But yes, they're doing some awful stuff. And we usually don't care, because we want cheap stuff. Blood diamonds, the chocolate industry...

Biden is few people's first choice, but given neither candidates is tough on China we will have to vote on the rest of the platform.

Yes.

Define 'easy on China" and how Trump was "Tough on China".

Trump probably wouldn't even dare to bring this up to Xi, because he tries so hard to kiss arse to him. the only thing Trump sort of did that was sort of tough on China, but mostly the US consumers/famers, was push a trade war that has yield jack squat.

This should be a good topic to discuss despite the candidates. China is our main rival and they have us by the balls. What are we doing to reverse the strategic stranglehold China has on the US? Few if any national politicians are mentioning it.

Maybe Ward is voting for “Didn’t look the other way when Putin paid to have US Soldiers killed” Biden instead?

I myself am pulling the lever for “Didn’t think Lysol and light under your skin would kill Covid19” Biden

Lol whatever. At least Trump acknowledges that China is a problem and is trying. Biden is only going to accelerate China's rise and our downfall. He's on video multiple times downplaying the threat they are, saying we shouldn't worry about them, while his son is getting paid rediculous sums of money by them.

Y'all probably agree with him since you've been lapping up the Russia boogeyman nonsense for 4 years now instead of acknowledging that China is much a bigger problem.

Yep the problem is he is too stupid to grasp that tariffs are absorbed buy the end consumer not the exporter.

Since we have become a world economy he is gonna cripple multiple industries by not having a real plan. Most people don't have a clue GM sold more cars in China than the US in 2019. China is a consumer to american corporations. You have to understand all of it to play that game and he is clueless.

I wholeheartedly agree that China is a problem. They are very well organized, have a plan for infiltration and control in third world countries and have a strong military presence that is exerting itself in Asia and the Pacific Rim. Their internet efforts to weaken the US are impressive. I also agree that Russia is a problem. I won't go into the many ways that they are a threat, but suffice it to say that they are aggressively seeking to harm and undermine the US as well and have an autocrat in charge.

While those two countries are attempting to harm the US from the outside, we are doing a pretty good job at damaging our own country. Removing Trump from his role as POTUS is a good first step at recovery IMO. Hopefully, the Republican Party will remember its principles again in Trump's aftermath, though it seems unlikely at this point. I have no great love for Joe Biden, the Democratic Party or its platform. Yet in November, I will cast my ballot for the Democrat for the first time in my life, because four more years of the Trump circus is the alternative. If that means I have to vote for Joe "I like to sniff little girls' hair" Biden, so be it.

About what I figured. A post on China committing genocide on a minority culture and this quickly switches to "what about Trump!?" on the 3rd post.

You guys can't see it at all, can you? LOL

the genocide is abhorrent but I’m not sure there are that many degrees of separation between it and Trump. At least not to the point that a reference to him should really be surprising.
