Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

I think this is where the rubber meets the road. In 2016, Trump has a much larger diverse base than in 2020. In 2016, he was undoubtedly more electric than what Hilary was offering, plus many democrats don't like Hilary and many probably stayed home. You also had the Bernie factor, many Bernie voters felt like the DNC screwed them by what looked at the time to be rigged for Hilary to be the nominee, despite Bernie having huge rally's of his own and overwhelming support vs Hilary with independents. Some Bernie supporters went for Trump in the general out of spite.

Trump wins election then ends up hiring what many of his base called snakes, aka, swamp people. A lot of those snakes were leaking stuff, Trump made a ton of blunders by always talking instead of letting his handlers do the messaging. By 2018, a lot of his more diverse supporter swing votes from 2016 stopped making excuses and started criticizing him for the people he hired. Too many backstabber, too many RINO's being promoted to prominent positions. By 2018, those swing voters that were with him in 2016 abandoned ship. They either went for Biden or stayed home. I knew some pretty big Trump guys in 2016 who had enough by 2018 who just was over the endless ego, the drama and jumped ship for 2020.

In 2018 - pre presidential election in 2020, Trump is still a king maker for Republicans seeking office. Covid ends up being a disaster in 2020, Trump loses to Biden and Republicans like Bill Cassidy starts distancing themselves from Trump.

In 2022 mid terms, we come to find out, Trumps not the king maker he used to be. Kemp pulls away and beats Abrams whilst the Trump backed Herschel Walker finds himself in a crazy tight run off. Boebert, another Trumpian fangirl, finds herself fighting for her political life. DeSantis wins Florida in ways that haven't been in two decades and has been gaining a lot of momentum in their party since covid. DeSantis was also able to capture independent voters in Florida.

So now the Republicans have to make a choice, run it back with Trump who is 100% going to lose or find another Champion in maybe a DeSantis 24 run. I think Trump will be viewed as childish by many of those swing voters he lost between 2016-2018 who are still Republicans. I think he'll look more and more desperate and unhinged as he even levies attacks at Youngkin who was well liked by many Republicans.

Essentially, if the Republican leadership sits Idle and doesn't kick Trump to the curb by 24, they'll lose again to Biden.

Trump still has enough juice to get the R leadership vote delayed in an attempt to oust McConnell for Rick Scott. He’s not intelligent, but he’s canny and cunning when it comes to his own self-interest. He will punish those who he perceives as disloyal to him mercilessly and savagely.

He’s basically a sociopath. He has no human decency.

In the wake of one of the worst midterm performances for an opposition party in decades, the Republican Party and its supporters are looking for someone to blame. One unexpected name appears to have risen to the top of the list: Donald Trump.

Mr Trump’s role as nominal party leader over three disastrous election cycles and his insistence on handpicking candidates loyal to him for every level of office has prompted a reckoning among previously stalwart supporters…..

I don’t disagree with anything you say. But Trump destroyed every “normal” R in 2016 primaries and had them pivot completely. I’m not sure it won’t happen again. If Rs had any courage, integrity or any inclination to uphold their oaths of office, they would have dealt with Trump when they had the perfect chance. I cannot think they’re about to do it now.

Yeah that’s fair - and what looks like strength for DeSantis now could evaporate pretty quickly when the Trump rally machine gets going. Seems like that’s where Trump feels like he has the advantage so why not go ahead and move into that phase.

It’s really probably still wide open at this point tbh. If DeSantis and this supposed party leadership that sees Trump as a liability want to challenge him, it’s going to be hard to sit back if Trump basically begins campaigning now. But do they have the nerve to do it?

There's a reason I've been occasionally hanging out in a hard right dark web forum for about the last ten years. It allows me to occasionally see things which are not in the normal view, or would be all that apparent without interacting with them in their home.

If you want to understand the conservative Trumpet v DeStupid dynamic then read this. The most important takeaway part in it is there, although all of what is in this article is important to understand this dynamic:

It was always going to get Big Ugly.

The Club’s enlistment of former TPP approving congressman Ron DeSantis as a foil against the MAGA leader is transparent. DeSantis, funded by massive contributions from the Wall Street approval committee, replaces the prior approved candidate, Jeb. This Big Ugly battle was always going to end up with vulgarian Trump -vs- the next Jeb. The Club has selected DeSantis as Jeb.

Now, let’s be clear. The Republican political establishment, which includes the entirety of the multinationals in/around it, hereafter just called ‘The Club’, doesn’t give a damn about actually winning the 2024 presidential race. The Club didn’t give a damn when Romney was used either.

What the Club wants is full control of the Club agenda, that’s where the money is. The color of the flag atop the Capitol Hill dome is irrelevant to the activity that takes place beneath it. To understand, remind yourself of: The 2017 Obamacare repeal vote, 2015 TPA and fast track approval, 2015 Corker-Cardin amendment for Obama’s Iran Deal, 2014 Gang-of-Eight amnesty bill, or more recently the 2022 unlimited Ukraine funding.

Under the Capitol Hill dome both Club wings of the UniParty apparatus feed the multinational corporate vulture, regardless of the color of the flag atop the spire.

The Republican Club has no interest in Ron DeSantis becoming President of the United States. The Republican Club has interest in Donald Trump NOT becoming President of the United States. Ron DeSantis is the foil, nothing more. It’s not about Ron DeSantis, it’s about the Club, the mechanism behind Ron DeSantis – the same mechanism that put $200 million into his campaign as enticement for his usefulness.

The big take away is that Trump isn't just their candidate, he's their murder weapon, and the GOP insiders are who're are about to be murdered. There's a meme at the end of the tree-house article which voices this Trump as a "murder weapon" part.

Common everyday Democrats like us are by comparison are just localizes petty pests they aimlessly swat at as they go through their day. Mitch, Mittens, Cheney, and the entire Bush family are their enemy. Biden, Clinton, Obama, and other big Congressional Democrats are also their enemy.

The Tree House is a long time far hard right conservative blog.

Sounds kinda analogous to New World Order conspiracy theory stuff, which incorporates a lot of anti-semitism. Do they also have that? Are they obsessed with the replacement theory as well?

Also, how can they square that their “change agent” is a failed NY real estate guy who grew up wealthy? Do they honestly think Trump would ever associate with the likes of them IRL? He chases celebrity, for Pete’s sake. How do they figure this guy, who was handed everything in life and cares desperately what “the elite” think of him, is representing them in any way? They can’t figure out that he’s using them?

They've bought the Q theory that only an independently wealthy and powerful man can 'drain the swamp' because he's not beholden to The Club.

If you think Trump will ever, ever just give up and go away, you've got another think coming. Running a perpetual election campaign is the most fantastic grift ever in the history of grifting. He's not giving up those millions until they're pried out of his teeny, cold hands. It's literally free money.

Yup, that is what I’m hoping for….Trump burns down the Repub party….I’m all for it….exactly what they deserve….

I suppose. Which raises the question, they think Trump is independently wealthy? He isn’t. He carries a lot of debt I think, at any one time. I’m not at all convinced his net worth is over a billion. 🤷‍♀️

Forbes estimates it to be 3.2 billion

That can't be what you meant to say, right?
Thats what a few overly ambitious Republican politicians, leaders like Rick Scott were predicting they'd win in terms of House and Senate seats in their non-existent "red wave" that never materialized.

Thats not what I meant to say or infer, thats what some Rep. leaders were deluded, unrealistic in their expectations for what they expected to pick up this past week.

Repeating what someone else said doesn't mean I believe or agree with the opinions or projections being said.

I've also seen a few maga types predict a huge red wave also. It didn't happen. They are now blaming mail in ballots
and rigged voting machines. There is no help for theses types

Yea, but a 55 seat advantage is the SENATE? As in, a 75-20 split? You (or whoever you’re quoting) must have meant a 55 seat advantage in the house, right?

Or did you mean a 55-45 split in the senate?
