Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.

Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
    He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

I appreciate the factual words @Optimus Prime shared.
Yet the article within his post mentions DeSantis "mocked Trump" on his indictment.
    DeSantis did NOT do that.
DeSantis said "I cannot speak to what it is like to be accused of paying hush money to a porn star" He said that in response to a reporter's question....and as DeSantis answered the question he did NOT display any Trump-like smug face...and DeSantis' voice was matter of fact.
Then he moved on. NOT mocking.

The way this clip presents itself before you click it is deceptive as well.
DeSantis is NOT pointing his finger or making a face as he says the words about Trump's indictment.

I disagree on the mocking along the same lines that @cuddlemonkey pointed out. However, why did you not also talk about the "Soros funded DA" comments and the "weaponization of his office for political agenda" comments that DeSantis made? If you are arguing factuality of the video, surely you will point out the rank hypocrisy of DeSantis claims of weaponization of office for political agenda when you have DeSantis putting forth legislation to make teaching black history illegal or the attacks on free speech in his state. Would you care to comment on that?

I just find this post strange that you go out of your way to defend DeSantis from accusations of mockery of Trump but you completely ignore the rank hypocrisy of the accusations that he made about the NY DA and "other Soros DA's around the country."

Very entertaining host. It is the host's purpose to be funny. What I said is unchanged. DeSantis only spoke on the topic because he was asked about it by a reporter. He handled it just fine and then shifted his harsher tone toward the NY Prosecutor....not Trump.

I am inclined to support Republican positive behavior and not comment on their negative behavior.
I think many people are like that.
It is extremely rare for democratic leaning posters on this forum to criticize democratic politicians.
That's just the way we all are.
    Don't single me out.

Franken was funny. But he was also right. You don't find it odd the way DeSantis brought up the exact situation twice? He knew exactly what he was doing

He may have well have said, "I can't speak to paying a porn star to keep quiet about the affair he was having while his wife was pregnant, a woman who was his mistress before she was his wife and who he was having an affair with while he was still married to someone else, but I can speak about the prosecutor, who should be investigating more serious crimes than a man cheating on his wife with a woman whose job it was to have sex on camera for money.

Do you really not see what he was doing?

Do you do the same with your students?

Like, do all your students get an A for effort, regardless of their lack of attention, behavior or actual right/wrong answers on a test?

    didnt think so.

DeathSantis utilized words in a very interesting way. He could have said that he could not speak to being accused of paying hush money and ended right there. He deliberately did not do so. He deliberately said paying hush money to a porn star. This achieves two purposes. The first purpose is to assure voters that he has never paid hush money which is an assertion but has no evidence to back it up. Of course, that doesn’t matter to a blindingly stupid electorate. The second is the words, “porn star”, which has a decidedly negative connotation especially for the dwindling evangelical voter base that Trump needs.

So, mocking? Not openly, no. But deliberate in the words he used for the purpose of attacking Trump and trying to make himself look better? You betcha. It is simple agitprop.

    YOU are proving my point.
Trump would have said everything about his opponent he could think of. Trump would have used name calling....rolled his eyes...played to the crowd...spoke in his annoying mocking voice...on and on.
DeSantis could have said all the details that you stated, but he didn't. He chose to be brief and then he moved on.
The two men are remarkably different.

so you think mocking differently than Donald Trump is the same thing as not mocking at all?

I disagree and you will find more than a little criticism of democratic politicians here. Both Biden and Harris have been criticized; Harris moreso than Biden. Feel free to post instances where democratic politicians have misrepresented the truth or demonstrated rank hypocrisy or worked to ban books or make laws intended to prohibit free speech and you will see criticism. As it stands now, those are things almost solely limited to republican politicians.

    I bid you adieu.

Different? Opposite sides of the same coin. DeathSantis’s shtick with the focus on gays and transgender people as well as banning books and assorted other legislation is directly out of the authoritarian handbook. Trump bleated similar nonsense but he actually has no core beyond narcissism. DeathSantis, imo, actually believes what he says which makes him infinitely more dangerous. Of course he is running the risk that his shtick won’t play as well outside of the Confederacy.

so you think mocking differently than Donald Trump is the same thing as not mocking at all?
I think it is needful for DeSantis to get the voters to see him as a better choice than Donald Trump.
If a reporter asks a question that opens up a chance for him to make that distinction...well he might as well do so. I like the way he handled it.
How else does he have any chance?
IF you were DeSantis and the reporter asked you that question, what would you have said?
