Many of Trump's endorsed candidates did not do well on Nov. 8th.
*
Gov. Ron DeSantis DID do well.
He won convincingly.
Yet in this OP's opinion, Donald Trump is an egomaniac who is seemingly incapable of putting "Party over Self"
Trump has ZERO chance of being elected our next president.
In my opinion, if Trump would just shut up and go away (fat chance of that)...but "if" Trump did that, Gov. Ron DeSantis would have a CHANCE to be a formidable candidate for President in 2024.
Here is an interesting article on this topic...

What do any of you think re. Trump vs DeSantis?

What a fraud.

So Pence wants history to hold Trump accountable but not any current legal options

Sounds like he wants Trump to get away scot free with everything he’s done now but decades from now “history” can say ‘yeah Trump was guilty AF’

"Indicting a former president is unacceptable" without talking about the charges/case literally means you think former presidents are not subject to criminal prosecution.

"No one is above the law" - actually, you literally just said the opposite.

They keep saying this but they don't mean it. They can't mean it - it's not possible to take those two positions at the same time. If they were saying he didn't do it (do what? we don't even know) then fine, but they're not saying that.

I came across this video ( slightly more than 3 minutes) that directly relates to the post I quoted.
I do NOT see someone "far out of his depth".
Just watch this and you'll see someone who is calm, poised and focused mostly on saying negative things about the NY prosecutor. The negative comments about hush money are just brief and NOT said with smug facial expressions and NOT with deep sarcastic tonal colors.
I had a pre conceived notion how this video clip would play out...but I was pleasantly surprised.

I think the “out of his depth” was purely in reference to how low Trump is willing to go and how DeSantis isn’t. It may work out for him - we’ll see.

The whole “Soros-funded prosecutor” bizness isn’t going to play with the independents but you’re right that he refused to engage with it to trash Trump. And of course, we know that Trump will trash Ronny D any chance he gets. So we’ll just have to see how that pans out. The GOP base loves the trash talk. They think it’s presidential.

Exactly this. However I’m not really keen on the disrespect for the rule of law shown by DeSantis here. (and many other Rs to be fair).

Didn’t Rs just spend Trump’s entire term fantasizing about putting all their political opponents in jail? And executing them? Even when no actual crimes could be identified or were even alleged?

All this talk about “weaponized” justice and “Soros-funded” prosecutors is just naked hypocrisy. And an anti-Semitic dog whistle to boot.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ support in a potential Republican presidential primary has dropped to its lowest yet as he faces a torrent of criticism from establishment Republicans for his remarks on Ukraine and attacks from Donald Trump, according to a new poll.

The Morning Consult survey found that a 54 per cent of potential GOP primary voters support former president Donald Trump, who announced his candidacy for 2024 in November.

Slightly less than half of them support Mr DeSantis, who has yet to announce his candidacy, at 26 per cent, his lowest level since The Morning Consult began tracking his numbers in December 2022……

I appreciate the factual words @Optimus Prime shared.
Yet the article within his post mentions DeSantis "mocked Trump" on his indictment.
DeSantis did NOT do that.
DeSantis said "I cannot speak to what it is like to be accused of paying hush money to a porn star" He said that in response to a reporter's question....and as DeSantis answered the question he did NOT display any Trump-like smug face...and DeSantis' voice was matter of fact.
Then he moved on. NOT mocking.

Here is the 3 minute or so clip...

The way this clip presents itself before you click it is deceptive as well.
DeSantis is NOT pointing his finger or making a face as he says the words about Trump's indictment.

Of course he was mocking Trump. His comments had nothing to do with the question at hand, which was the governor's role in any potential extradition process.

Also, can we talk about how stood there with a straight face and dropped some anti-semitic dog whistles and unironically complained about an elected official "weaponizing their office to impose a political agenda"?

I disagree on the mocking along the same lines that @cuddlemonkey pointed out. However, why did you not also talk about the "Soros funded DA" comments and the "weaponization of his office for political agenda" comments that DeSantis made? If you are arguing factuality of the video, surely you will point out the rank hypocrisy of DeSantis claims of weaponization of office for political agenda when you have DeSantis putting forth legislation to make teaching black history illegal or the attacks on free speech in his state. Would you care to comment on that?

I just find this post strange that you go out of your way to defend DeSantis from accusations of mockery of Trump but you completely ignore the rank hypocrisy of the accusations that he made about the NY DA and "other Soros DA's around the country."

Very entertaining host. It is the host's purpose to be funny. What I said is unchanged. DeSantis only spoke on the topic because he was asked about it by a reporter. He handled it just fine and then shifted his harsher tone toward the NY Prosecutor....not Trump.
