Senator Warnock won in a special election to fill the remainder of Johnny Isakson's seat - which expires January 2023. This means the seat is up for election in 2022, where Warnock will run as the incumbent and the GOP field that is now led by former running back Hershel Walker, who has been enthusiastically endorsed by Donald Trump.

I don't agree with him, but he's just pushing back against those who would ban the AR-15. And he'd push back on any gun being banned. The AR-15 happens to be the gun people want to ban, well, first anyway.

I understand his point, Dave, I just think it was in terrible taste to pull that bullshirt when talking about public schools, given the history of AR-15s and murdered children.

I have terrible taste. The entire gun rights debate is about the AR-15 so, no, you can't emotionally blackmail on the subject.

Does my personal choice include me purchasing an AR-15?

No, you are far beyond feeling shame or anything remotely close to it.

Most of the Maga folks are non-establishment but most of them are on the weird side, or even me, except for DeSantis.
MAGA and Trump are the de facto establishment now. And DeSantis parrots Trump. Your definition of establishment seems to be 'Republicans I don't like.' Chris Sununu is hardly establishment... he just doesn't pander for culture war votes.

Can you explain how the maga group is the establishment right now? I would love that to be true, but the majority of the minority (republicans) are rhinos and not maga. And you are right, there are very few republicans I like.

I don’t think that is correct if we are talking about people who vote R. You can tell because the elected Rs are pandering to the ridiculous ideas of the R base.

I will also assume you use the word 'rhino' (it's spelled spelled RINO, I thought) just as Trump uses it -- Republicans I don't like. The term is, of course, nonsensical because most MAGA don't understand conservative values outside of culture war politics.

How is MAGA the establishment? Are we going to engage in the fiction that Trump and his cronies don't control around 80% of the GOP? When you have the power, you are the establishment.

Because they see the writing on the wall. Even linsey Graham will act tough once in a while and we all know he is a slime bucket.

A nation that governs itself must absolutely must have an electorate educated enough to understand the issues they're voting on.
So you would be on board with simple, 5th grade level test to determine if you can vote or not?

So where do the Reps hold power? What house?

Can you explain conservative values to me then?

We were talking about power within the GOP, don't move the goalposts to argue because the GOP does not have a majority in Congress that MAGA is not now the GOP establishment.

    No.
It's unnecessary if everyone is educated to the HS level.
    That's the point.
Btw, that rhetorical trap was so obvious you may as well have put a FREE BIRD SEED sign in front of it.

    Up your game.

Yep, that’s the quote I was referring to - he doesn’t understand what evolution says, just a cartoon like idea that humans evolved from apes. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

This thread made me think how cool it would be to have a Hershel Walker vs Bo Jackson election where Bo was the Democrat and ran ads that said "Bo Knows Football and Evolution" Or, "Bo Knows Football. Walker don't know shirt!"

So only those with a high school diploma/GED should be allowed to vote. I am on board with that.

I would hope so, but I was starting to wonder if you would pick it up. Good on you.
